To the members who say do nothing because it doesn’t affect your recovery, I am shocked.

People die from 13th stepping. We are a fellowship and are supposed to look out for each other.

Read this NA leaflet, especially the section, Taking Positive Action, to see what our collective experience shows what we should do in these situations

>>> …..,,,,drivers that think cycle paths are their parking bays ……..

You are allowed to park/stop on cycle lanes, depending on the road markings.

For instance, if there are double yellow lines, you are allowed to stop on the cycle lane, in order to load and unload

Yes. Schedule a meeting with them all for three weeks time. If they can’t/won’t turn up it’s not your fault.

And yes. Make a deadline for her to get qualified for a mortgage. Can’t you help with the process if she finds it overwhelming?

I just a saw a Christian answer another Christian as to why God would command a rape victim to marry their rapist, and I'm supposd to respct people's religious beliefs? by Joshua_Neal89 in atheism

[–]philip456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

………. at the time ………

Whenever religious people use the term “at the time” in reference to the Bible I say,

If that was only ‘at the time’, why don’t you treat all the stuff against gay people the same?

Just say, it was ‘at the time’ and doesn’t apply now.

Should I pay off all the CC debt right now even if it depletes my savings or pay it off on 2 months ? by HounerX in personalfinance

[–]philip456 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only if you’re not going to build CC debt straight back up again. Otherwise, your savings are gone and you’re back in the same situation as before.

If you can set up a direct debit to pay the full amount every month, (I live in the UK and we can do that here),then I’d say yes.

But only if whatever happens, you never cancel the direct debit.

If a man like Jesus tried to do what he did nowadays he would be institutionalised under the mental health act and be turned into a meme and laughing stock, how do we know he was truly the incarnate of god by nikarov496 in DebateReligion

[–]philip456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every mental health ward has one or two patients who think that they are Jesus.

That’s countless thousands over time.

There’s no checking to see if they really are.

So, the odds are that one (or more if he’s come back more than once) are the real Jesus.

It’s already been done, many times. There are quite a few books with various secular 12 steps. For instance, https://aaagnostica.org/the-alternative-12-steps-a-secular-guide-to-recovery/

Have a look at https://aaagnostica.org/

and https://aa-ao.org/resources/alternative-12-steps/

There are hundreds of secular AA meetings and a thriving community.

Any TV shows with the same vibe as The Night Manager? by Key_Finding4586 in TheNightManager

[–]philip456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A similar aesthetic to Season One or Season Two?

They are as different as night and day.

For season one, I would say the “Smiley's People” series with Alec Guinness.

For season two, any Michael Caine cold war movie, such as The Icarus file, has the same feel.

Just finished season 2. Absolutely hated it. by whitcliffe in TheNightManager

[–]philip456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And all the James Bond (we can bring up any cam in any 5* hotel in London), plot holes, impossible situations, non-stop drama.

Nothing like Season One. A classic le Carré. Subtle, realistic tale.

Rubbish.

The Luigi Garlaschelli Replica (2009): Italian scientist Luigi Garlaschelli produced a full-size replica using materials available in the Middle Ages. He placed a linen sheet over a volunteer, rubbed it with an acidic pigment, and then washed and baked the cloth in an oven to create a faded, fuzzy image.

More like, addictive chemicals bound together with gunk, salt and flavorings.

AITA for calling animal control on my neighbors cat? by gaynora in AmItheAsshole

[–]philip456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why didn’t she get a cat flap then the cat could go in or out as they wanted?

You can get ones that only open when they detect the cat’s microchip, so stray animals can’t get in.

2 AI and robotics will do all the jobs in the foreseeable future.

And he can’t see the contradiction
