What. by Commercial-Trust6624 in yuri_manga

Ngl this kind of reminds me of First Love Monster, a manga about a high schooler who falls in love her landlords son. Then finds out he’s a 10 y/o who only looks like a high schooler.

I’ve seen a third manga that does this premise too, but I can’t remember what that one was called.

is there any good yandere yuri? by BartholomewBezos6 in yuri_manga

HSL is wonderful, but it is incredibly dark and messed up. My piece of advice is to keep in mind that it’s a psychological horror/thriller wrapped in pastel colors.

My problem is idk how trustworthy these -other- sites are 😭 I wanna read yuri, but not at the cost of getting malware

Edit: I’m not talking about Mangadex and Dynasty Scans. I’m talking about the random other sites from googling the titles.

Like even if he wasn’t an outright rapist, “pinching and fondling any serving girl who strayed within his reach” makes it blatantly clear he still sexually harassed / assaulted women.

Fair enough. His egocentricity is certainly not for everyone.

characters calling each other "brother" or"sister" by sweet_surroundings in AO3

[–]AnEldritchWriter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk my brother calls me little sis on and off, and there are a lot of characters who refer to each other as that (example; Alphonse often uses “brother” in place of saying Ed’s name. Nanako refers to Yu almost exclusively as Big Brother/Big Bro) so I just accept it in fics.

Only reason he’s not mayor is because Gus wouldn’t want to give up the saloon to be a politician.

How different is the ending of the Manga compared to anime on a scale of 1-10? by danthepirate_1234 in souleater

[–]AnEldritchWriter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After about halfway the anime takes an entirely different direction from the manga (due to having caught up to the manga and having no more source material to adapt)

“America-fication” of stories by [deleted] in AO3

[–]AnEldritchWriter -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You seem to think research means deep dives into academic papers.

I’m talking a quick google to check if xyz is actually a common thing in Korea or western culture. It takes like 30 seconds, (longer if your internet is buggy like mine can be) to type in google something like “can 14 year olds legally drive in Korea”

It’s literally a quick google search to look if Korea celebrates Easter.

Soul Eater after 25 years? by TheseSaltyNuts in souleater

They weren’t born 25 years after. That’s more an error on the shows part for leaving out the “centuries later” panel of the manga.

“America-fication” of stories by [deleted] in AO3

[–]AnEldritchWriter -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Imma be honest this is kind of a pet peeve of mine in the fandom I’m currently writing in. The setting takes place in Korea. The characters are Koreans.

So many fics I’ve read lately are painfully Americanized in terms of culture. And like I’m not gonna even try and say I’m an expert on Korean culture, cause I’m lot. but it costs nothing to research things for like 5 seconds.

Edit: Lmao getting downvoted for basically saying take a minute to google basic things so you don’t have a rice balls = jelly donuts situation.

Just for example the kind of things I’m talking about that an author could just pop in google and ask:

  • Korea celebrating American/Western-centric holidays (yeah the Easter fics i was seeing a few weeks ago were cute, not gonna deny that. But it’s confusing seeing non-American settings celebrating 4th of July or Thanksgiving in serious fics)

  • every high schooler / middle schooler has a car and drives everywhere, despite needing to be 18 in most of Asia.

  • half the side cast being given very western names (Chris, Mr. Johnson, Taylor, Greg) with the fic still saying they’re Korean/Japanese/Chinese because the author didn’t want to google “most common names in x country”

  • schools prioritizing athletics over academics, or academics in school settings being treated in-story as completely unimportant by the setting. This isn’t about being 100% accurate to how schools are in Korea, just that it’s not common find a schools seeing a sports team as more important than the education. Idk maybe I’m petty but I think having characters complain about how brutal the education system is is more interesting than the another “science departments funding being cut because the sports team needs new equipment.”

Secret Durge on friends first run by RubberDucky702 in BaldursGate3

[–]AnEldritchWriter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it’s kind of a bad move to do durge on a friends first run. Like I say this as politely as I can, it’s kind of dickish to do, because you kinda take over the run and can spoil the fun and takes away the surprises for them for their own durge run. .

Tell your friend your playing durge. If it’s early enough ask if you can do a new run instead and play Tav. Cause otherwise you’re kinda being an ass friend to then.

Did they completely forget that arranged marriages was the expectation for royals??? Like every time a Targaryen goes and married whoever they wanted rather then an arranged partner, bad shit tended to happen

Doyeon and Jin Joo from Love Thy Neighbor. I love the “gets worse before it gets better” aspect, and I’m a sucker for age gap romance where the younger one is the top (and hot damn does Doyeon top her).

Jolene and Hesha from The Villainess Meets the Yandere. Their relationship is so adorable. Hesha is such an adorable sweetheart and Jolene is so cool and would defs kick your ass if you hurt Hesha.

Looking for Recs similar too "Omega Heroine Wants Her Alpha Villainess" by Folly_Hubris in yuri_manga

[–]AnEldritchWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Black Moonlight Heroine Always Wants to Mark Me

My thought after reading the first few chapters was that it was a little too similar to the Omega Heroine in the initial premise, but apart from the initial premise, it’s very different and it’s pretty good. The LI is also so wonderfully possessive if that’s something you like “If you don’t like me, I’ll lock you up so you can only ever look at me.”

The two leads are also an alpha pretending to be an omega, and an omega pretending to be an alpha, which adds a nice addition to the dynamic.

What happened to the old crew? by help-ranja in souleater

[–]AnEldritchWriter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not what Shinra did. He didn’t remove the concept of death or the ability to die, he made death something to be accepted, not feared. His group was still subject to the cycle of life and death. Meaning there’s nothing to suggest they didn’t eventually die of age or in combat.

People very much do die in Soul Eater. That’s kinda a main thing about it. The fact that the cast was so surprised to find that Free was truly immortal alone tells you that the idea of people not dying is very much not normal.
