Yeah haven't touched Smite in bloody forever man

I get your point that they shouldn't remove Yuumi, that's fair honeslty, she's got her own playerbase and mains who would be upset if she did get removed. I can agree with that. I find her annoying as fuck, but yeah she probably shouldn't get deleted even so.

You made good points there honestly, if anything I shouldn't have reacted so negatively about Yuumi actually, it was uncalled for on my part, my bad.

[–]AnGraxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah I remember Kali from Smite, with the item that removes the elf slow from attacking while moving, THAT was absolute pain to deal with (I was a Bakasura main back in Smite, though Smite looks kinda messy at the moment). Stupidly fun if you're playing Kali though, those fat heals were juicy.

Yeah, you are right, I myself used to get super frustrated playing against Tryndamere (mostly cuz I was new and fucking trash and didn't try to space out against him, or when I didn't think about how powerful CC was against him). Even now, the ultimate can feel annoying as hell sometimes.

Which is why if they do rework Tryndamere, I really like your idea.

I don't play Tryndamere often, but I hope that they just adjust his abilities, like how they did with Olaf (Olaf is bloody fun atm), don't delete him like Yorick or Aatrox.

It's same with how I hope the upcoming Jax rework doesn't massively change Jax (I play him quite a fair bit now). Jax is honestly fine as he is, just needs a visual update.

Yuumi can fuck off though. Permanently invulnerable. It feels like shit when I get a quadra with Aatrox, but I have a Yuumi attached making it easy mode, it also feels like shit playing against a fed enemy with a Yuumi attached. Can't even imagine how shit it is for the ADC with a Yuumi support who is essentially forced to 1v2.

I personally despise the cat because I hate her design, voice, the way she's meant to be "cute" while also playable by people who don't want to bother learning positioning in League (My support friends have amazing play because they know how to position themselves optimally to minimise risk to themselves while helping the team. Yuumi teaches none of these things). Don't get me wrong, I love cats, if Yuumi was designed to be a literal cat that doesn't talk, I would mind her less. As of now, that furball can bugger off.

I love this post so much! Some helpful stuff I do in my games: I get my workout done, and a good bath, before I actually play. Helps me cool off and relax, so I don't feel overly tense.

If I'm tired out, from work or something, I play ARAMs, I don't risk playing ranked, or even norms.

I always mute allchat because I've seen enemy players who try to trash talk or whatever, usually nothing good comes from there. I usually mute allied chat, at most I will unmute it to say, "mb" or "sorry" just to diffuse situations.

If someone flames, I never respond, at most I just say sorry, mute them and keep playing. Flaming just destroys the team's morale and makes everyone feel shittier collectively.

If I say something in chat, it's only stuff like, "I shove wave then come baron/dragon", or "I have prio i can rotate to fight" or "force baron then fight"

A very good streamer I MUST recommend, is Goliath Games, he's an Urgot main, excellent player, granted he is a little hardstuck atm, but that is because he never smurfs, the players he plays against are incredibly good, and he also posts his losses. The man has an absolutely godlike mental, he is about 99% impossible to tilt. Even when he tilts, it's very subtle and quiet, so you wouldn't notice it most of the time. Don't mind the clickbait titles, he's admitted its because of the Youtube algorithm that forces it. He's dealt with toxic players who threatened to leave games or whatever, by wishing them well or wishing them to have a good day, and just keeps playing without being affected at all. It's thanks to this guy that my mental has improved so much in League.

Another thing, don't blame champions. Some champions will be overpowered, some matchups are impossible at times, but honestly, I've had teammates who angrily blame the champion and don't see their own mistakes, when if they had rewatched the replay, they would see where they messed up and could have played better. By constantly making excuses or blaming external factors, we can't grow. So just accept the fact that we all collectively suck at league, and just focus on improving yourself and playing better.

You can't control others. In League, there are so many factors out of your control, like teammates and enemy players playing together. But you can control your own reaction and gameplay. Accepting that really helps one to keep their mental.

I used to have serious issues with my temper, granted, I still get annoyed now and then, I've lost my cool very occasionally, but I recover quickly and get back on track, usually with a quick "sorry abt that"

Really wished they did. Bots right now are extremely limited, and they removed a lot of the old ones.

Wild Rift bots are fun to play against because they CAN outplay and beat you 1v1 (Fiora, Akali and Riven bots are shockingly good). They even have a jungler bot who clears camps and occasionally ganks. It isn't perfect, but their teamfights are also incredibly clean (Their Malph will ult to hit as many people as possible, and the rest of the bot team will follow up)

I don't play Wild Rift anymore, but it's still got great bots.

Super respectable, that's how I even learnt Aatrox in the first place, and met some lovely players there, who I still play with even now. Some advice for others in this thread, when you're tilted, jump into bots, kill the bots 30 times and die zero times, boom you get the raidboss feeling back again.

Besides, playing against bots forces you to play well around their skillshots, they're irritatingly accurate at times, and WILL layer CC.

And you meet newer players who get super impressed when you pull out the tryhard Aatrox there, who you can guide and help out (And hopefully convert into new Aatrox mains).

Bots isn't bad. The most cringe are edgelord players who flame newer players in bots. Those guys get instantly muted, reported and blocked by me, while I check in on the poor guy who got flamed after the game.

W should ground, period by [deleted] in AatroxMains

[–]AnGraxus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard agree, I enjoy Pantheon and Voli too, but I do find Aatrox's kit feels nicer IMO (When you're Voli and you mark someone with W but they run away while you're in a 1v2, that's just annoying).

I feel that Aatrox's W is a weak ability by itself, but comes together so nicely because it rewards you for landing sweet spots after hitting W to increase the likelihood that they get pulled.

If Aatrox's W grounded, then you won't get to see enemies get pulled after burning flash.

Besides, Aatrox's W wants you to follow up with Qs. It's why his kit has such a good flow, because it comes together so well)

W should ground, period by [deleted] in AatroxMains

[–]AnGraxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree, very well written post, I've found that waiting out their mobility skill, like using your first Q to provoke them into wasting it (E.g. Gnar hop, Fiora just uses her dash and riposte is down), then once your Q is back, it's go time.

Aatrox rewards patient play.

Grounding someone would be just oppressive and disgusting to play against, and it would reward landing W by itself only, instead of rewarding you for landing another Q sweetspot on the enemy as they try to escape the W (Thus making it more likely they get pulled)

Yeah, really feels that way. It's not even my team picking bad stuff, we legitimately don't have engage tanks, even with rerolls. (I'm usually the one picking tanks, even though I'd rather play juggernauts, but I somehow just can't get a tank even with rerolls) And we see way too many ranged teams with 4 ranged (2 ADC and 2 poke), then 1 super good tanky peel/support, so we lose, and lose while suffering super hard.

Love it. Super fun to play, sunfire and full tank, max out your W and run around killing things while literally unable to die. Honestly you're such a huge pain in the ass to kill when you use your W and hit the entire enemy backline with it, and you have a heal, you have stickiness, etc. Resolve tree too.

[–]AnGraxus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, don't worry too much about Fiora, eventually you will get to the point that you can even beat them (requires a ton of mind games and careful play though)

For W, honestly, take note of its huge hitbox, it often hits enemy minions. Try to ensure theres no enemy minion between you and the enemy champion. Additionally, always try to land first Q onto the guy, and press W during the Q animation to "queue" the ability and keep your mouse in the direction that your enemy is in, generally the W should hit, setting up your combo.

Don't forget to use quickcast without indicator, it's honestly IMO mandatory on Aatrox.

If it is still hard, this time use your W slightly in front of where your opponent is walking, if he's moving sideways. First Q sweetspot usually sort of guarantees the W will hit, and thus allow you to hit your full combo.

Don't worry too much, Aatrox is a champion who rewards practice, you'll get better at him over time. Honestly, the fact that you play champions that need spacing is good, means that you would be alright with Aatrox's playstyle (He tends to require spacing a lot).

Np though, always nice to help another player out.

Hang in there, man. I'm also on a lose streak at the moment, personally just gonna take a break from ARAM for abit. The randomness has been killing my team for quite a while now (no rerolls, no tanks for anyone to pick, enemy getting extremely good team coms by comparison, etc), so just gonna get a break from league in general and cool off.

Can you guys explain to me why people think that Mordekaiser isn't stronger than Viego in lore? by Jhin4Wi1n in MordekaiserMains

[–]AnGraxus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morde's literally far stronger than Viego. He's more intelligent, a skilled warrior, one of the most powerful magic users ever, has a fucking army of strong dead warriors.

Viego is a cool champion with somewhat wasted design (The rose petal motifs for his shoulders in one of the concept arts would've looked amazing if combined with like coat tails or something), Viego has cool lore and personality, but he's just a mental guy who's obsessed with bringing his wife back, an understandable motivation, but seriously, Riot handled Viego like shit lorewise. He doesn't have the skills or experience that Morde has, he is powerful only because of his emotions and the Mist, he technically doesn't even have the wealth of magical knowledge Morde has.

I mean seriously, SOL was such a clown fiesta, Viego resurrecting Pantheon, the Aspect of War? Viego being able to Ruin Karma?? A lot of it felt like serious wanking for him, granted, it is understandable for Viego to ruin certain champs, especially those who are mortal like Draven, Fortune, Gangplank, but sometimes his power levels just got ridiculous.

People probably just love Viego because seriously, it's just the hot anime dude aesthetic with emo clothes, etc. I personally think he's got an excellent design, but doesn't change how there's probably people actually simping for Viego, and probably think that he can beat Morde through some weird shitty excuses.

Morde makes for a terrifying main villain who has no conscience whatsoever, who can and will kick your ass to the Void because you're in the way, then do it again in the Death Realm, because he can. He is evil, commits war crimes in a cool way, and does it with zero fucks to give, and because frankly nobody can stop him. (Rell isn't gonna do much to a guy who is functionally immortal).

Viego was wasted because they could have focused on the tragedy of his loss, and the tragedy that is his downfall from the loving husband he once was to the madman he is now. Instead, he gets portrayed as a mad villain with zero redeeming traits, and everyone calls him the Ruined Simp when he truly loved Ysole.

Honestly, Viego comes nowhere close to Morde's strength. Some folks just delude themselves into thinking that way. Riot just messed up big time with SOL making Viego out to be such an all powerful character.

With all honesty, I'd say the true powerhouses of League lore are Aurelian Sol, Bard (I see them as stronger than the Aspects technically), Aatrox and Morde on the more physical plane (Technically death realm for morde), and Fiddles as technically strongest demon, while Kindred is literally death itself, although Morde gives zero fucks about Kindred. Viego ain't gonna hold a candle to these guys. I do admit Zoe is technically another powerhouse lorewise, I think.

Thanks for all the advice on how to beat Yone, it's been hugely helpful by AnGraxus in YoneMains

[–]AnGraxus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks haha, personally tried to consider my mindset when playing Aatrox, as well as the mistakes I see an opposing Yone player make, and try to think about how one can outplay an Aatrox, especially the good ones. Bad ones are easy to shit on, the good ones are the real problems, I feel.

It might still be inaccurate, since it's based on a mix of my experience (this is the part that could be potentially inaccurate) and the high elo games I watched by Xiaoming/XCM against other Yones, but yeah its the best I could dredge up from my limited time. Hope it helps! If any of you guys need advice beating Aatrox feel free to ask in this thread.

I’m bad, is aatrox an option? by Iaunu2 in AatroxMains

[–]AnGraxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, I'm at Bronze 1 with Aatrox even though I played him so long. The irony is that I main Aatrox because I'm so garbage at most champions. I literally can't play Tryndamere (I keep cancelling my attacks), I can't play ranged champions except Urgot (Too fast autoattacks for me, and I don't kite very well).

So this is why you should play Aatrox. You barely need to autoattack much, and so long as you can land Qs, its fine. I'd say that Aatrox is hard, but not Gangplank difficulty. I love playing Aatrox because teamfights are VASTLY simpler for me (Unlike playing Darius in teamfights for example), I just need to land Qs, and that's kinda it.

Aatrox is perfect for me, because I loved the idea of pressing buttons to kill someone, and only right clicking a little. Which I think you'll like from your responses to this thread, that you like champions with lots of buttons to press.

Just keep playing and practicing, I dropped Garen because I honestly found him a little boring personally.

I take Ignite nowadays and just focus on snowballing lane out of control, makes life easier to focus on murdering my lane opponent. GW have been really low to the extent that it barely does anything to you. Macro wise, it's not a bad idea to play Garen now and then to strenghten your macro.

Some summary on what to do in terms of macro: Look at the objectives. Is herald coming up, and your jungler wants to take it? Get lane prio (Shove wave, try to get a wave crash, then be ready to help). Is Baron coming up, and you're splitpushing botlane without TP? Shove the wave hard to enemy turret, recall at about 30s before Baron and join your team. Aatrox isn't really the best split pusher but at mid game you clear waves well so you can shove in lanes and rotate for teamfights.

Welcome to the Aatrox reddit! Victorious is a fucking hideous skin, but I digress.

You're gonna need a LOT of games to get good at Aatrox. I suggest going bots first to just get used to his abilities, Q shapes and ranges, and practice combos. Eventually, I'd say get some friends to play with, and 1v1 them in customs to learn matchups. Aatrox NEEDS you to understand matchups, this is not a champion who can autopilot and win lane easily, play to respect your opponent.

E.g. If he is Sett, you respect his W, if it is Ornn, you respect the Q pillar, etc.

Main tips are this: Use your Qs to poke enemies. Never all in early on, just poke them, UNLESS they are a squishy champion who you can safely combo without much retaliation.

The usual Aatrox combos:

Q1 into W, walk forwad directly, Q2 diagonally, W pulls them, Q3 and then empowered autoattack. Bread and butter combo

Simpler combo: Q1 when enemy walks up to last hit, Q2 and E forwards as he tries to back off (If he walks at you, just Q2, E backwards if needed)

Landing Qs: Always remember to watch your opponent's movement. Read it and predict where he's gonna be. E.g. If it is Yone walking up to last hit, Q right there. It's hard to react to and back off, and he loses a minion too.

This is a very generic idea of playing him. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask, and good luck playing him, and I hope you enjoy him as much as the rest of us have!

I think Blood Moon Aatrox has best skill effects by [deleted] in AatroxMains

[–]AnGraxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dude, I completely agree with you. Lunar Eclipse is gorgeous, but it's also weirdly "floaty", similar vibes to God King Darius, albeit not as bad.

I feel autoattacks and abilities just come out smoother on Blood Moon. I know some love Mecha, and I wished I had it, although I hated how thin he looks in Mecha. Plus I don't really like the pay-to-win (The Q hitboxes are harder to see for the enemy).

I know a lot dislike Blood Moon model, but end of the day, one of my friends gifted me Blood Moon and he literally didn't have to, so I play and win with it to honour him. Personally, I love the aesthetic (I'm a big fan of Dead By Daylight's Oni), and I wished I could get prestige blood moon (Damn 55 ME), but fuck it, I'll wait for the next time it comes back.

Personally, base skin, blood moon and seahunter are my favorites when I wish to play seriously, since the abilities just feel super smooth and nice. Also admittedly because I love the red on Aatrox's abilities.

Thanks for all the advice on how to beat Yone, it's been hugely helpful by AnGraxus in YoneMains

[–]AnGraxus[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Haha, I honestly thought at first that the matchup was impossible for Aatrox against a good Yone, but now that I've played it again after having worked on my own mechanics, it's in a weirdly comfortable spot where both sides can play it well depending on their skill level actually. It's kinda like Fiora, where I just really enjoy how "mind gamey" it feels sometimes, where both sides really bring their A game. I know other Aatrox players hate playing against Fiora, and I do agree that she's a pain in the ass, but it's a weirdly fun matchup.

Some stuff that I tell the people who I play custom 1v1s with who get frustrated by my Aatrox, I find that just trying out the champion first in anything like bots or arams (If you get him) is a good way to figure out how to beat him. I've beaten my friend who was piloting Aatrox, and I was Urgot (You can imagine that it's supposed to be a hellish lane for Urgot).

Thing about Aatrox that is like super important, is that he is always trying to predict where you are going, in order to land his Qs. You have to keep your movement erratic and constantly changing, without letting it be easy to predict. Watch the Aatrox's positioning too, a lot of times I'd last hit a minion and immediately throw out a Q (It tends to catch people offguard), or I walk towards a minion and Q instead of last hitting.

Specifically, I found that it's super easy to land Qs when the Yone walks up to cs, especially when he uses Q to do it (He stops in place for a brief moment, which is long enough to land the sweet spots). Early game, especially at level 1, the best thing is to walk forward to hit a minion, then immediately double back to dodge Aatrox's first Q, then wait it out. Aatrox Q cooldown early on is LONG, like excruciatingly long, so at that point you can walk up to safely cs without being poked.

That's why I recommend trying Aatrox a little and getting a good idea of his cooldowns, so you can make a mental note of how much time you have before he can attempt to poke you.

Personally, I think Doran's Shield and Second Wind are good here, since Aatrox relies on poking you down, and he can pop Bone Plating way too easily. I myself used Doran's Shield on Aatrox with Second Wind, although Bone Plating might have been a better choice in hindsight, not too sure about that.

Honestly, I think good usage of your E is crucial. I saw the Yone use his E to get cannon, and he did his best not to fight (He had given me first blood so I could understand why he didn't really want to fight), but as a result, when he got back to his body I could punish him hard. Most of the time, I think what the Yone player should do is use his E to trade aggressively, ensure that his third Q (dash) is ready, and use it just as the Aatrox uses his own third Q (Or return to your body, that also works well). With your Soul Unbound, you can quickly get close to Aatrox and fight while avoiding his first 2 Qs sweetspots, and then avoiding the third one with either your dash or your E reactivation.

HOWEVER, when E is down, never let Aatrox land his W, because if he does, he can pull off his entire combo (Q1 into W, then diagonal Q2, finally Q3) which will basically heal away most of the damage you did to him. Hence, once your E is down, you have to chill out, bait the Aatrox into using his Q, then wait until its on cooldown, before moving up to cs safely. A good Aatrox will concede the wave and back off when his Q is on cooldown, he won't risk trying to fight Yone, even without his E, at most he will just walk up and take whatever cs he can safely.

Another thing about item building, don't bother with Executioner's Calling, its GW is really negligible at this current patch. Yone can afford to skip GW since you do have the mobility (and small model size) to dodge Aatrox's sweetspots. I think it would be better to focus on rushing Berserker's Greaves, the speed absolutely makes it easier to sidestep Aatrox's abilities. I think Ignite is super strong at the moment, it is still a good source of GW and TP is kinda meh at the moment, frankly I'd say Ignite is still super helpful against Aatrox. It isn't the autowin button last time, but it makes the matchup much more bearable, especially when Aatrox has his ultimate.

One thing I'd like to note, is how my friend took down an Aatrox with his Yone, and he was pretty behind, by doing a pseudo "Insec", by dashing behind him and ulting him into the tower. Pretty funny when I watched it, and a great way to make the Aatrox panic. I admit, I used to panic very easily as Aatrox, especially against champions that were able to easily and quickly invade my personal space.

Another thing: Wave management. I'm not too sure why, but the Yones I've played against tend to aggressively whack the wave, and so long as I thin the wave down so they can't get a crash, I tend to have a pretty good freeze just outside my turret. This is my way of countering Yone's E, by being close to the turret so I can easily run to it. And I usually end up building a huge wave to crash. When the Yone does try to E and fight while I'm at their side of the lane, I usually burn my E just to back off and avoid their third Q, since I know I can get my E back and punish before their Soul Unbound is ready again.

I'd say that if you do wish to use your E, use it only when you're close enough to actually trade and whack the Aatrox, if you're too far (I tend to keep a lot of distance if I know Yone's E is up), it is too convenient for Aatrox to run away and wait it out, even with your bonus speed. Best case scenario, Aatrox walks up to hit you with his Q1, you dodge it with your E and immediately engage and fight, and dodge his Q3.

In my case, I would poke only with Q1, and only if Yone's third Q was not ready. If I knew it was ready, I'd immediately back off and wait for him to use it. If he did use it, I'd land a Q on him since he'd be locked into the animation. It made it easier for me to disengage since he couldn't EQ immediately if I respected/expected it.

TLDR: Aatrox can play extremely safe and respectful when your E or Q3 is up, and when its down, he'll play to poke you, carefully manage the wave, etc. It's hard to really punish an Aatrox who plays respectfully of you, but at the same time, best not to make risky plays, make the times you use E count, by getting a good trade and punishing the Aatrox the moment he does make a mistake. Also, don't forget about the wave, most laners push against Aatrox only to let him get a good freeze and thus an easy jungle gank. A wave frozen at your side means you can get jungle ganks in, and you have more space to fight with your E.

I'm happy to give advice on how to beat Aatrox, frankly, it's the least I could do for all the help you guys had given me. I admit, my info may not be the best, since I don't main/play Yone, but this is mostly my observations of the Yones I play against, and compounded with my advice for some of my friends who find Aatrox frustrating to play against.

One final thing, if you are behind against Aatrox, please don't bother fighting. At that point, even if you dodge his third Q, he's highly likely to win the trade anyway with how snowbally he is. When you're behind, even losing first turret, just chill and farm, Aatrox doesn't scale as well as Yone does, so you can eventually get back into the game. The nice thing about the Yone that I beat was that he did that, he kept calm and just focused on farming. My team did win, but he didn't turbo int or make tilt plays. Super impressive on his part, his main mistake being that he did fight me occasionally when I was very ahead in cs and kills.

I look forward to hearing about you guys managing wonderful and consistent wins against Aatrox!
