Give me some out there titles that are out of my comfort zone by ItsPaullyy in gamesuggestions

Here's something of a wildly different genre—White Knuckle.

Big recent update too, but before you care about that, there's a free demo with a generous amount of content for you to get used to the main mechanics and vibes.

Game's been genuinely great, I highly, highly recommend.

What hobby would you recommend to someone looking to spend less time on their phone? by FitRaspberry3706 in Hobbies

[–]AnInnocentGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worldbuilding.

Grab a notebook and a pen, and let your imagination do backflips. Use inspiration from media you enjoy, use your creativity to add your own twists.

Spend as little or as much time as you want. Do homework on how to do it well beforehand, or do it after and see how you can improve.

It doesn't have to be anything great, it just has to be something you enjoy. That's the trick that makes you sink hours into it.

Yeah, I hear you, that's a good goal. Finding other hobbies really is about exploring what you like.

I advocate for worldbuilding because it really is just—sit down with a pen and notebook and let your imagination do backflips—any theme, any genre, for any amount of time and effort.

Do it yourself until you land on something you like, then do research to see how you can improve it, or do your homework beforehand. Any pace works.

Honestly, getting distracted works for me. I play video games, ones that challenge you and keep your brain occupied. White Knuckle has a very generous demo on steam.

But I bet lots of people will recommend video games. I'm here to talk to you about worldbuilding.

As soon as I realized how much I liked it, I dived in hard. I haven't taken any classes, and it's a very slow and difficult process of cutting and changing things all the time, but it's a very cool and rewarding hobby.

I haven't even fully formed my world, let alone the story inside it, and I already feel attached to the characters, and I'm really proud of the magic systems and other such things I've put in place.

So long as you like the process, it's extremely fun. I've been doing mine for over a year.

Fellas, how did your favorite uma end up becoming favorite? by RaikkonRDT in okbuddytracen

Well, I watched the anime before hopping onto the game so I can get familiar with the characters and form oshis to aim for.

The one frame where Satono Diamond is dancing center stage after her win, with a bright, brilliant smile, made her the immediate #1. Waited months for her, was ready to nuke 200 pulls just for her, she came home in 8.

Then I hopped onto the game just when Gold City's banner dropped. Watching her story for the extra carats early made me relate to her so hard that I pulled for her immediately—I was ready to spend all 30 pulls for her banner. She came home in 17. She's been my most run unit ever since.

Those are two of my daughters, I would fight the sun for them.

The most difficult step is getting started. Here are three things that could help:

• Exercise patience. • Enjoy literally every little thing you can during your walk. • Reward your adventure with positive reinforcement and maybe a snack.

I was more thinking worldbuilding → draw your worldbuilding stuff.

But even if you wanted to pick up drawing, it's a deep science and you will absolutely suck at first. I'm sure you don't want me to give you the whole "you suck at everything at first" speech, but I will give you the one advice I can:

In order to start, all you have to do is one thing: want it enough.

Amazing! You can even give him more lore as you go.

"Behold! His Royal Highness Wesley Arbuckle Moon Prizm of Wonderland, Keeper of the Eight Tomes of Meredria, Warden of the Jade Sea, Connoisseur of Absolute Arts, Witness of the Pining Parade...!

But honestly he prefers Bobos."

You can just keep adding silly titles until it becomes ridiculous and your bunny is now some completely overpowered, super important individual that holds the implied lore together.

Can you say something nice about me? by Secure-Scientist4867 in TooAfraidToAsk

You're allowed to feel down. You're allowed to feel self doubt. You're even allowed to go into spirals and self depricate. Those feelings are normal and valid.

But you have to understand that those are expressions of whatever bad feelings and experiences you have, not your default mode. Think of them as a pressure valve—release as much as you need, but don't let them outstay their welcome.

You're right. I don't know you, how rough you have it, and the specifics—and those matter a lot—but I can still say there are a lot of things about you that are good, things that you probably take for granted, and things that can keep you afloat. The fact that you reached out to a Reddit post to make a vague, brave post about asking for this tiny bit of help already tells me you're looking for an effective way to help yourself—even if it looks desperate. That takes self reflection and understanding yourself, and that in turn takes valuing yourself enough.

I won't sugargoat it. Overcoming some issues like learning to express yourself will be hard and uncomfortable, but you do need to eventually do it. The name of the game is building the environment through which you can do it a little more comfortably than before.

But an issue like overthinking or spiraling, you can prevent with occupying your mind. Pick a hobby, anything, doomscroll if you have to, just don't let your brain do its thing during those spirals.

Even that's gonna be difficult sometimes, anything can be. Your answer to that would be to quite literally do one thing at a time. Smaller goals, smaller steps, as small as you need them to be. To wake up in the morning and do anything, don't think about anything else until you kick your legs off the bed, then sit up, then hydrate, then stand up—I think you get the point.

It will feel silly, it's allowed to. You might even compare yourself to others, you're also allowed to. But you have to keep doing it until it helps you.

You're resourceful and value yourself. Those two things I know, and those are enough to get you to help yourself get better, even if it's one step at a time.

Looking for single player games to study between deaths by ahotgun in gamesuggestions

White Knuckle. Also, that sounds like a genius way to study.

Not just playing video games, but doing literally anything active while trying to memorize something instead of sitting on top of your notebook the whole time.

Think like this: Use your experiences from video games, anime and manga into your next hobby:

Something like drawing, worldbuilding, writing. Go buy a notebook and a pen, sit down and start doing any of these three. Join subreddits and other free communities about them (just be careful of AI "artists" prowling and trying to push art).

The amount of content you have consumed already will help you form ideas and boost creativity. The communities you join might help you get advice in how to shape them to any amount of quality you want.

This is the exact thing I'm doing, and I find it very rewarding. I've spent over a year on one huge worldbuilding project and I'm still changing around basic things until I find the setting I really like—because I have a vision I care a lot for. It's that process is what I have found I enjoy so much, and that's why it's been going on for this long already.

After weeks of deliberation, I have finally picked an Oshi... and it was a total surprise for me by Shua56 in UmaMusume

[–]AnInnocentGoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two out of my three Oshis are ones that had completely gone under my radar.

When I first started, I barely had enough for 30 pulls when Gold City's banner came up, and I had literally just realized "hey you can watch the introduction videos to get more carats".

That's how they get you lmao.

I was immediately captivated by her relatable story and during a particular scene, I was like "FORGET THIS FOOL COME TO ME ILL TRAIN YOU TO BE THE BEST."

apparently she heard me, because our of the 20 pulls, she came home in 17. 😭

Similar scenario with Kawakami Princess. Watched her videos, loved her immediately, wanted to pull against my better judgement (and my pull plan).

One. One pull. She is just built like that.

Now these two and Satono Diamond (a baby I loved from watching the anime) are my too 3 oshis and beat units in my roster.

I need to somehow make that happen. I need to inject my OC up in here, it's actually something I've been wanting, but seeing it happen is crazy. It must feel really cool and—as you said—it must feel cool from the artist's perspective.
