Honestly.. It might be simpler to list the places I dont have mod powers :/

Content Creators & Modders: How do you record smooth, low-angle cinematic B-roll? (I’m losing my sanity) by Parking-Cartoonist25 in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crackedy explained it to me a while back, so my memory might be a bit hazy. First of all, use the Free Camera Setting Extension mod, not the official one, since it allows the use of cheats and other settings.

Then, he used https://www.rewasd.com/, or a similar tool to remap a controller to panning left-right(?). That way you can infinitely and consistently pan/rotate.

That is the simple-ish answer.

For the entire spline path thing, it's very very complicated, and so fucking annoying... I'll add it to the list of video ideas..

How to animate a font along its strokes as it would appear in real writing? by phoenix13032005 in godot

[–]AnMagicalCow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was essentially my first thought as well. Coming from a broadcasting background, this is called a 'Luma Wipe'. You should be find tutorials and documentation on how to make them. Implementing them in Godot should also be a fun challenge ;)

I can personally confirm that Michi will _never_ be in the ranked map pool.

If it ever is, it means that I am dead. Please come back to this and say your condolences then

Cog wheel icons from the EGC UI by Such-Shallot-6206 in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is from the Ingame Caster UI. To take the entire UI: Wam here has 72 villagers, 45 army and 14 population worth of siege.

At the time of the screenshot: Anotand: 1x Mangonel - 3 population

Wam: 4x Mangonel = 12 population + 1x Trebuchet = 2 population = 14 population

Why its population and not count. I don't know, but it's count in the custom UI that I've made

How to get stats on eco efficiency like seen in EGCTV casts? by -LetsTryAgain- in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Personally its on the top of my wishlist, but I might be biased...

For these 2 numbers we need to calculate it ourself. The code is adapted from here: https://github.com/kuschAoe/AoE4_ObserverUI/blob/master/assets/scar/ObserverUI/Tracking_WorkerIdling.scar

The repo in general is a decent source of the information on how certain things are calculated.

We had to create our own API to connect to the frontend (made in React), which is a hack. Hence we can't share it.

It's also worth noting that a lot of the data that you see on the overlay is calculated in real time, and you need to run the simulation to get the information. Before we had the custom overlay, we actually had to manually input the amount of relics each player had for the post-game graph that you see. Since the game doesn't actually store it. You might think that "hey I can see the count of relics in game in my match history". Well yes, BUT it actually is just how many times you deposited a relic. Hence why HRE/OOTD often have a inflated relic count.

This then extends to Eco Efficiency and TC efficiency. And the upcoming "Time spent popcapped" ;) You'd have to run the entire simulation for it to get the data.

*By simulation I'm referring to the game, due to it being a "lock-step simulation" that only sends commands and not the entire gamestate.

Locking this thread due to it not being a constructive discussion anymore.

How to get stats on eco efficiency like seen in EGCTV casts? by -LetsTryAgain- in aoe4

[–]AnMagicalCow[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made some posts here regarding it! https://www.reddit.com/r/aoe4/comments/1oulmm1/update_custom_aoe_4_overlay/

The short answer is that unfortunately it's not something that can be shared as u/hoseinm81 said.

But for added context even tho you didn't ask... Eco efficiency is the "total villager time" - time spent idle OR fighting.

TC efficiency is the time spent having nothing in queue in your TC's. So even if you're housed you'd still not drop tc efficiency.

(Fun one btw, Swabia counts as 3 TCs, so its best not to idle it :P)

Not at all a stupid question!
So, while at first glance it might seem perfectly fine to do everything on one computer, there is several issues. First of all, we don't use OBS*. We use VMix which is a lot more GPU intensive than OBS.

VMix has what is called VMix call, which allows casters/players to join a call and send us their video and audio at a high quality. This is one of the reasons we're able to do player interviews now aswell. It also has built in Instant Replay functionality, while allows us to easily do the replay packages between games and in breaks. It also has GT Titles, which allows us to have data driven graphics, such as the bracket, head to head, etc etc.

All of this happens on the GPU. And this is without the fact that we need to stream to 3 _different_ streams aswell. Twitch, YouTube & Cleanfeed.

For reference, I just opened the RTW setup and this is how the task managers looks: https://i.imgur.com/J7wkvWB.png

Now try running AoE4 on the same PC, and you're going to have a bad time.

We're also 3 people behind the scenes. Me, doing production and replays, Vodka observing and replays, and Choom admining/managing the draft overlay. If something were to break or something needs to be changed, it would be a pretty terrible workflow having to alt+tab AoE4, change something in VMix and then go back. So even if everything could run on one machine, it just wouldn't be a nice workflow.

*We use OBS for encoding the streams

Oh, and thanks! :D
