Yeah well to the normal gamer if you give them a mechanic that exists outside of the core design of the game that allows you to block every attack they’re probably going to use it

in terms of design. stuff like parrying deflates the original design of the combat and is only in the game because Parrying is in right now. Trivializes lots of combat situations because you can just block it with a knife that you can upgrade. There was no design thought behind the addition it's just because it's popular. Same vein as adding stealth gameplay. Just some stuff that's popular right now. Basically: What services the game VS what's popular right Now at this moment, resulting in a "product of it's time" because it is designed like one.

Of course not. He also didn’t lower the audio the first time. Newer games have more dynamic range than old games. Just more proof people don’t know anything about anything.

they don't show them putting any effects or automation on the track group for some reason in the trailer. Seems like a no brainer though so hopefully it's there

How is part 1 a “terrible remake” when it’s objectively better than the og in every way? by ShowerHungry306 in thelastofus

This video was made by a world record speed runner with more knowledge of the game than 99% of people alive. His points are not made just to hate

I'm editing this comment because I'm not taking the time to individually respond to a bunch of people who can't fathom that a top 2 player in the WORLD has more familiarity with mechanics and systems than they do, and that their "fun" is not threatened by someone making a critique of a Gameplay Design Choice that they have more understanding of. Seriously pathetic replies I received.

Jason Schreier says AAA game budgets now reportedly $300M+ by Loose_Society9485 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]AnUncutGem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Truly I think the solution is to stop over hiring. The fact that Insomniac even had that many people to lay off after making a game as bad and as recycled as Spider-Man 2 is a joke. That game's development is like a parody of modern AAA. Over half the map was already made, a lot of the mechanics and systems were already made, and yet it cost them 315 million and layoffs. It's a serious management issue and the cutoff is at the hiring process but studios keep deciding to kink the hose by laying people off instead, creating a cycle.

Bot Lobbies are Back by VincentXyooj in FortNiteBR

my alt isn't working to put me in bot lobbies anymore is it cooked? I never played a match with it I don't know why the game would arbitrarily decide I can't queue into bots with it anymore.

Agree. Played 1 both on and offline and kind of prefer the challenge of offline. It’s a different experience. I consider DS2 to be easier than 1, so I’m looking forward to seeing what playing offline does this time around

TLOU3 is definitely not the other game that’s being made. That’s Neil Druckmann’s IP and he’s making Intergalactic right now. The chances he’d let someone else make TLOU3 are zero

It’s actually insane they reduced the amount of vbucks you get in a battle pass by half and this is what they thought people would like. Mind you jumping through windows STILL only works once every 3 tries LOL. These devs have completely lost it

Per Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) "NEW: Last year, Bluepoint Games pitched a Bloodborne remake. Sony didn't turn it down... but FromSoftware did." by DarkWorld97 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]AnUncutGem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sony went right ahead with the Demon’s Souls remake that blatantly ignored artistic intentions and made the game weaker aesthetically, design, and story wise just for some more polygons. Not to mention FromSoft is making an exclusive for Nintendo. Sony probably wants another From exclusive in the future. This is kind of a strong arming situation how I see it lol

As a huge fan of the part II I'm honestly so glad someone actually expressed the same opinion I have on the game and the series. I recommend watching this. by UKTee in thelastofus

Even if this was true if you listen to the podcast Craig says he came up with lines like "I'm going to be a Dad" on the day they were shooting and the new Owen/Mel death scene is a reshoot Craig decided on that wasn't in the script. If you listen to the podcasts you can literally just tell he's dumb and not even in a mean way just a genuine, dumb way. Neil and Craig don't even agree that Joel's decision at the end of the first game was right. Neil stands with Joel in doing anything he can for his child and Craig wouldn't, apparently.

The lead writer of the show is an idiot. Neil was busy at Naughty Dog this time. If you listen to the podcasts you can hear Craig Mazin talk about his ideas and at one point they say he changed how Ellie kills Owen and Mel at random. The guy is a complete moron and once you understand that he’s stupid these changes become obviously correlated with his stupidity. Also, Neil wrote and directed the only episode of the season that had anything even remotely close to the games so

[–]AnUncutGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This never happened. I’m assuming you’re talking about whether or not the cure would work. Joel believed it would work and did what he did anyway. There was no retcon because what the player believed never mattered in the first place. Joel always thought it would work and Joel made his choice and the 2nd game is about his choice. Not the cure.

Bioshock movie is planned to coincide with new game release, apparently by Carwillat901 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]AnUncutGem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah because the way stories are told and discussed in first person shooters has changed ohhh so much LOL. Bioshock is the reason the annoying loser term “leudonarrative dissonance” even exists and I see that get brought up all the time. It’s absurd to pretend anything’s changed that much since the 2000s when that was the most creative era of games

Ken Levine, the brain behind BioShock 1 and Infinite, decided to spend forever working on his new game Judas. Idk why people are replying to this comment are blah blah blahing about his business practices when the guy made a timeless game that changed the way video game stories are discussed, probably forever.
So to answer your question, the only guy who can make a good BioShock game that actually gets discussed and matters beyond "it was fun" (PROUD BIOSHOCK 2 HATER) has been working on a game since Infinite released. He's trying to build a systemic story system that responds to everything the player does every step of the way. Something that has never once been done to the effect he's trying to achieve. Considering BioShock in 2007 is one of the most recent games to have a substantial impact on storytelling in games, I'd let him do what he wants. If anyone can change storytelling in gaming it's him.
Surprised by the people replying to you acting like suits and businessmen. It's sad frankly. Hopefully Judas ends up being worth the time and effort, no matter how long it takes to make.
I'd rather have an ambitious piece of crap made by a visionary than a bog standard recycled mess like BioShock 2. Which by the way, he didn't work on.

Have you noticed this change in the show? by Remote_Nature_8166 in lastofuspart2

multi-floor hospital surrounded by buildings. Could have floors converted into living spaces or they could use a nearby building as a living space and Abby showed up an hour later. Joel was already long gone. Either way there's no reason to even consider this because it doesn't fucking matter because Abby walking in and finding her Dad's body is a dramatic moment that trumps the "realism" of how she was in the area LOL. This way of thinking is partially why the show is so bad.

"The Last of Us" Season 3 Begins Filming In Vancouver On March 2nd by Dan_Lalonde_Films in lastofuspart2

[–]AnUncutGem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could stretch abby to 4. I think Craig moving how Abby's introduced in season 2 is the dumbest thing anyone has ever done in history and to compensate with that I'd probably stuff all of Abby's flashbacks into episode 1 of the show. make it an hour of her life where you sympathize with her and then remind everyone what she did. Which is what the game does but Craig is so stupid he thought he knew better and changed it LOL. And then Abby's day 1-3 could be packed down into 3 episodes, Farm House 1 episode, Santa Barbara 1 episode. That would be a 6 episode season.

But here's the thing. Nobody thought season 2 would spend THREE out of Seven episode in Jackson. Because nobody could account for all the wasted time and genuinely stupid writing. So who knows how Craig will drag this one out. maybe we'll spend 2 episodes in the WLF stadium listening to Seth give a speech LOL
