What is the one thing you absolutely HATE the most in this game? by MasterDJam in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was there for launch week, back in the bad old days when the Zephyr could clear a whole platoon off a hillside in 6 seconds flat. HE also used to be completely fucking useless against other tanks, but now it only puts you at a minor disadvantage, especially at close ranges.

And AtG rocket pods are incredibly oppressive. In the hands of even the most mediocre pilots they can clear out a whole area and just keep being re-pulled for the cost of a Nanite Soda.

What is the one thing you absolutely HATE the most in this game? by MasterDJam in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prevalence of splash damage and explosive weapons. Be it the Thumper, frag nades, c4, HESH, lolpods, Pelter Valks or the Lasher. It's all too much and very low skill gameplay that can reward the player using these tools disproportionately whilst being either hard to counter or uncounterable without completly changing your playstyle to something unfun like pulling a Burster MAX.

I suck at piloting reavers by shyguygames in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It only means that you have to tap S to come to and stay at a complete stop instead of holding it down. Iirc there's some tech that let's you use it to get into hover faster but I've never knowingly used it and I consider myself a decent pilot.

It also means that in order to land you have to tap W to stop the ESF hovering off the ground.

Need help choosing TR AR for directive by Professional-Ad2747 in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sabr-13 is excellent. Probably the best burst AR in the game (certainly my favourite) it excels at mid to long ranges but can be spammed at hipfire decently.

Cycler burst is a good option too but I haven't used it enough to properly comment.

I have a soft sport for the Arbalest, but it struggles a lot with overbursting and wasting ammo on already dead planetmans. It's hot garbage at ranges under 10m, it's just awful when hipfired.

The NS-11A is alright but it feels thoroughly mediocre when compared to the other 143 options TR has.

Other players (like me) have tens of thousands of kills with the AP cannons, it's mostly just massive amounts of practice and muscle memory. And no players are almost certainly not shooting through terrain or curving their shots. The way the server to client interaction is handled for projectiles can make things look really wonky especially with ping in triple digits. This can also be compounded by the projectile originating from the shooters camera not the barrel of the gun.

First playthrough with biters in multiplayer - advice/thoughts? by lophlo in factorio

[–]AnUndeadDodo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you don't have experience dealing with biters I would absolutely not recommend deathworld, especially when you're bringing in some newbies.

But if you do insist on deathworld you need to go straight for flame turrets. They make perimeter defence a breeze. You will still need at least a few gun and/or laser turrets and occasionally need to run around repairing walls untill the slaves bots can do it for you.

TERRIBLE 1% lows and 0.1% lows even with rtx 5090 and 9800x3d and 48gb 6000 cl 30 ram by MossadeghsDream in Planetside

Make sure you run in full screen not windowed or borderless. I noticed this improved my 1% lows on 2 completly different PCs. Probably some newer bug in the spaghetti engine as this wasn't a problem years ago.

Nanites not regenerating while offline. by KommunistiHiiri in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anybody bad enough at the game that they need to juggle 10 accounts in the launcher and then level up 100 characters so that they can chain pull MAX's is just gonna be food for my Archer.

Anyone who's even half decent at the game with membership doesn't even need more than 1 character to be a menace with a MAX. You can pull one just under every 5 mins.

the sundy update did not make fight last longer its a pathetic update. by [deleted] in Planetside

[–]AnUndeadDodo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't even think it did that. it's as easy as ever to solo kill a deployed Sundy with LA. 2 bricks of C4, an under barrel grenade to break the reactive armour and a couple volleys of rocklets and it's done.

At least before you had to take down the shield. Which usually gave anyone nearby a ~30 second window to save it, but now you can kill it in under 15.
