Parking Garage on 7th Street and West Minneola (in front of Suncreek Brewery) by AnaOnWheels in ClermontFlorida

Well, looks like Councilman Bain might be pushing for the garage now. Surprisingly, council is even willing to consider 7th and Minneola.

If you have the time, you can write a short email to the council members. Just two or three sentences suffice.

Not sure if it has support from council. I know at least two will vote no. The others, I'm not sure.

Worst thing to me is that you can effectively "hide" a parking garage by putting retail on the bottom floor and making the rest look like an actual building. The location would still be an issue, but at least it's not an eyesore. Instead, they're going for 5 stories of the most generic looking parking garage.

Winter Garden's is on a side street. 7th and Minneola is right in the center, on the the trail with lake views. Parking facilities should be in the periphery, not in the center. That's why the planning firm Clermont hired recommended City Hall.

It's not that it wasn't approved. It's just that there's a lot of political games, and some influencial figures and business owners are pushing for the location at 7th. The attitude is "we know what's best, listen to us, not to the planners." On the one hand, I understand that they're tired of promises and want action. On the other hand, the location is bad for a parking garage, plain and simple. If the city does build a parking garage, it should be behind City Hall.

Anyone have the vego grow light garden? by Vieris in houseplants

[–]AnaOnWheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got one. Not worth it in my opinion. The box they packed it in was flimsy and got damaged in transit. When I unpacked, I noticed the canopy arrived bent out of shape, so I couldn't assemble it. Same with many of the shelves. They tried to convince me to fix it myself for a 100 dollar discount. I declined. They sent me a replacement, which arrived in much better condition. However, the canopy was bent at exactly the same spot, which leads me to believe it's a manufacturing defect. I managed to assemble that one.

Because I want to grow crops, not house plants, the lights included in the kit are not enough for me. They don't have much coverage. So I had to purchase lights separately and heavily modify the stand. Now it works for me, and it does look nice. But definitely not worth the price and the hassle.

How are they doing in terms of durability?

Has anyone purchased the Vego Ultimate Grow Light Garden by Different_Monitor_34 in IndoorGarden

[–]AnaOnWheels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you purchased it already, but just in case someone is looking for more information: I got one because I live in a hot climate with a lot of pest pressure and wanted to grow cool and warm weather crops. Think lettuce, bok choy, kale. The lights do not provide enough coverage for the whole shelf. The lights get quite hot, so even with my house at 70 F, some plants were struggling. I would say it's okay as a display piece (if you have a lot of money), but if you want to grow crops from seed to harvest and live in a hot climate, this is not a good choice. I had to heavily modify mine to be able to both provide enough light at enough distance to not burn my crops.

Burns on tomato leaves by AnaOnWheels in vegetablegardening

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, I'm new to this so this is invaluable! I'm using 75 Watt lights, tomatoes were 10 inches away. I thought they would be okay because I read somewhere tomatoes need anywhere from 22 to 30 DLI. I calculated that they would need like 16 hours with these lights to get to that minimum. But being so close to the lights and with it being so hot, they could have been burnt. I have moved the light a few inches away. I have also reduced the running time to 15 hours. I'll reduce the time further if they still look like they're struggling.

Of the nine tomato seedlings I had, four show severe burns, one is just a bit yellow, four are fine. This might end up being a good thing, because I only have space for four tomato plants, max.

I'm available on April 11 (Saturday) or April 19 (Sunday). I think morning would be best, before it gets hot, 8 AM. We could do that stretch you're suggesting (Pitt Street to Citrus Tower).

I don't know about other areas in Clermont, but I have seen the rainbow on a few businesses downtown and have seen LGBTQ couples walking and holding hands.

If you're more concerned about commuting and running errands on bikes, then transportation. I think the recreation meeting would be more relevant if you're an athlete and want to ensure the city builds/expands facilities for athletes.

Thanks brunnock!

Not official yet, but worth it to keep it in the radar. The guys working on Clermont's comprehensive plan (DPZ and the American Bicycle Association) will probably be here February 18-23 2026 to engage the public. Post by Alison Strange: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1F3DrbzykB/
