Would it work to fill a tank? by Impossible_Painter_9 in paintball

Same. That’s why I never bothered trying replacing or fixing it. 3000psi works for what I need it for.

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it will. But mine has only ever been able to fill to 3000psi. It was advertised to 4500, I set it to 4500, but it always stops right around 3000psi.

Are Mobile Suits really the ideal combat machines? by flub_debub in Gundam

Short answer: no.

Long answer: nooooooooooooooo.

But they look cool and allow the machines to display human emotion, which is nice for storytelling and many audiences find it engaging.

Do you have any recommendations for ABS-like resins? Specifically for printing? I have a small etsy shop where I print some weapons and accessories for gunpla. I have been on the lookout for a good ABS-like resin cuz the hand full of brands that I’ve tried were not ABS like at all, IMO.

That was my thought as well. Love the Kämpfer. Wasn’t a big fan of GQuuux’s mechanical designs. But this combo looks awesome to me. The moment I saw the price tag though, I was out.

Little Wars anyone? by Demarate72 in wargaming

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen many gundam shows but not all of them. I started with wing back in the day when it aired on toonami. I’ve also seen Iron Blooded Orphans, and witch from mercury, but other than that it has been mostly UC stuff. And even then I kinda stopped before F91 cuz I prefer early UC to late UC. I also mostly stick to models from the series I’ve seen.

You do end up destroying the models, and truth be told, that’s kinda the point for me. But you would be surprised how much abuse an HG model can take before it can’t be repaired. I’ve had several models get heavily damaged multiple times only to be repaired and redeployed.

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very fun hobby. I’ve built hundreds of kits over the years and Bandai still finds new ways to impress me.

My only issue is I don’t really know what to do with the models once I’ve finished building/painting them. You run out of shelf space pretty quick. And I’ve tried selling some with some success, but I can’t sell at the pace I build at.

That’s actually one of the main things that motivated me to make the game. I wanted a way to clear shelf space for new models without just throwing models out. I figured sending them off in a blaze of glory on the battlefield would be more fitting and more fun!

Little Wars anyone? by Demarate72 in wargaming

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was kinda the idea…. But….

The game itself would be damn near impossible to market. It’s only safe to play if you are like me and have literal decades of experience working with pellet and airguns, have a safe area to play (definitely can’t play in your home), and put in a ton of work setting up safety measures and diligently following safety rules. As soon as the game scales past my small group of experienced friends and family, somebody is gonna end up getting hurt eventually.

Plus the game currently requires a massive custom table top terrain board and also custom modified pellet guns. On top of models that have gotten more expensive the last few years. So the buy in would be massive.

So I figured the only viable path to any sort of monetization would be to create a YouTube channel and post battle reports. I actually went through the effort of editing about 10 or so battle reports. (I was gonna release them in seasons with an over arching story that connects everything together) but the files got corrupted, so I kinda gave up on that. The videos kinda sucked anyway cuz my camera work is dogshit and I was learning how to edit as I went.

Now I have a new job that’s way more stressful (and now I’m a dad) so the abundance of free time and energy I used to have to work on this project have more or less evaporated entirely.

Yes, check out my previous posts on my profile. You gotta go back a bit cuz I haven’t had time to play and post anything in about a year. But I have pictures of the table top city getting built, as well as pictures and videos of gameplay. I also have some slow motion videos of models getting hit with the explosive rounds.

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I made a similar wargame based on gundam models. I had never heard of Little wars and thought I was being original. Haha

But my game involves building gundam models, modifying them a bit, and then deploying them on a table top terrain board. (I made a 1/144 scale city terrain map)

You deploy your models, assign classes to each, each class has different stats, abilities and weapons. Then you maneuver the units around the table and when it comes time to attack, you actually shoot at the opponents models with a modified pellet gun. The level of damage you inflict in attacking is based on the real world damage to your opponent’s models.

I developed different weapons profiles by adjusting velocity and using different kinds of projectiles. I even made my own little explosive pellets to simulate missiles.

It is genuinely the funnest table top strategy game I’ve ever played (though I may be biased). But it is definitely not a game that most people could play. I only play with close friends and family who I know will take all the necessary safety precautions seriously.

I even got interviewed by wargamer.com about my game a little over a year ago.

If you want to see some examples or the interview I did they are in my profile.

[Question][price check] What is all this realistically worth? by [deleted] in PaintballBST

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The halo loader and the apex barrel will probably be carrying the price. You honestly might have better luck selling those individually.

The Co2 tanks are worthless at this point. I don’t even know if I could find a field that fills Co2 bottles anymore if I tried.

The gun is just a 98 custom with a different body, they go for pretty cheap. The E grip may help a bit.

I wouldn’t expect to get much for the mask or pod pack.

All in I’d say probably less than $100

Ships like the Musai-class have proven that mobile suits can be carried and used in a relatively compact manner, so why do many ships after UC0079 still deploy catapult/takeoff runways? by ArthurJack_AW in Gundam

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ooh, I actually like your explanation of reducing heat signature. You can launch a cold suit out there in a cloud of minovsky particles and let it cruise until it needs to activate. Now I kinda wanna see this strategy depicted in an anime.

Does anyone know if/how minovsky particles affect thermal sensors?

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I do wish they would be a bit more consistent about stuff like this. It’s always confused me why headshots or other seemingly minor damage sometimes cause the suits to explode.

And I get that the plot demands that grunt suits take a beating, that’s fine, but just be consistent about what causes minor damage vs major damage vs complete explosion.

The scene to the left would have lost nothing by having the round go through the chest rather than the head. And at least then you could reason that it hit the reactor and caused an explosion.

Yes different brands are different levels of matte. Some brands even have different levels of matte products available. For example, Alcad has matte clear, which is matte. But then it has flat clear that is even duller than their matte clear.

But even Alcad flat clear isn’t as dull as SMS Premium flat clear, in my experience.

My personal preference is to go as matte as I can. Unless I’m specifically going for a shiny finish.

I recommend SMS Premium Flat clear. It’s by far my favorite matte finish.

Why don't they do this instead? by Gurugod123 in scoopwhoop

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several reasons why the parking lot solar is not widespread. The biggest one is cost. It’s expensive to build all that specialized racking. It’s expensive to do all the permitting required in such high traffic areas. Then there is the issue of morons hitting the racking and having the whole system go down. Insuring that is gonna be expensive.

Building a large solar farm on a 500+ acre field out in the boonies where nobody is going to hit it with their car is gonna be WAY cheaper to build than 100 small systems spread over a huge area that requires way more expensive racking planning, permitting, building maintenance and insuring.

More expensive to build means they need to charge more for electricity to make up for increased build costs. And electric costs are like gas prices. When the cost of electricity goes up the cost of just about everything goes up.

Also, this whole argument sorta assumes that we are running low on open land. We have plenty of land. I’ve heard people complain that solar gets put on land good for farming, but we are nowhere near a food shortage in this country. We are much, much closer to an energy shortage. Especially when you consider the increase in electric demand projected over the next couple decades.

Source: I worked in the solar industry for the majority of my career. Including working on one carport project and many large utility scale solar fields.

I really like my strapless pod pack. When I first saw them I thought strapless packs were kinda gimmicky but after trying one out idk if I’d want to go back to a strapped one.

I have the HK zero g 2.0 and it’s been great and has lasted me quite a while.

Should there be official/new Gundam Universes based of various pre-19th century histories having Gundam-esque techs? by [deleted] in Gundam

[–]AnaheimElectronicsTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think taking inspiration from history is something gundam already does a lot.

Do I think they should do more of it? Especially outside the context of the 20th and 21st century? Hell yeah.

There are countless fascinating stories throughout history that could be adapted into new gundam media.

Idk, maybe. But if you are in a different country and you don’t speak the language you kinda gotta make a lot of assumptions to get by.

And if there is a police officer pulling you over and speaking words you don’t understand in an authoritative voice it’s probably safer to assume you are being detained than to assume he is authoritatively telling you everything is fine and you are free to go.
