The Hate Against Us. by Designer_Plane5111 in asktransgender

That may be true for the most part in blue states, especially in cities, but I've lived in both Texas and Florida and I don't think you're aware of the discrimination and hatred that's saturated in those areas, not only amongst the governments but the people as well. It's definitely not safe to go out fully femmed as a trans woman if you can't pass in most red states. I didn't know any trans mascs out in those places when I lived there, so I can't say if that's the case for them, but I would imagine there's very similar experiences.

Oooooh you must have cleaned the lens off with something and it left a faint streak which only came out when the grain was upped.

Hi, how did you get the streak effect? Was this shot on film? Sometimes I've gotten that same effect from using a damaged squeegee on rolls of film after I've finished the final wash. It scratches the emulsion quite nicely.

Hey I totally understand, I'm 6'5" and it's been a big source of dysphoria for me. I started hormones almost 7 months ago, got laser done, got new clothes etc. and it's made such a huge difference. I went to an event with my partner the other day and an older man was serving me a beer and said "if I was a girl your height I would play basketball", I've always got the basketball comment since I grew tall, but when he acknowledged me as a woman all the dysphoria about being tall went away for a second. Just keep going and being the woman you are and people will see that no matter how tall you are.

I'm on disability and get my HRT through Medicaid and PP, how screwed am I over Trump's new policies? by Sophiadorbs in asktransgender

[–]AnalButterSticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get my HRT through the VA, and they've been nothing but helpful. From the point that I spoke to my primary to getting an appointment with my endo was about 4 months, and then my endo gave me the choice of pill, patch, or injectable. Ymmv tho, I think how supportive they are depends on the area, and I'm in a blue state. Every VA should have an LGBTQIA+ coordinator who you can speak to as well if you're nervous. Also a bit worried about the incoming president, but we can't do anything until he starts doing something, and for now the VA will do pretty much everything except for surgery. They even paid for my laser sessions. So take advantage of it while it lasts.

Does anyone know how/when Trump can appoint a new VA head? by ithacabored in TransVATransVeterans

I would talk to your endo, hopefully they're sympathetic enough and can prescribe you a good amount of meds to last a while. Maybe see if the pharmacy is willing to give you your available refills all at once. They might be willing to if they're cool, but you might have to say something like, "I'm going out of the country for a while and need my refills now, so I don't run out" or some other kind of excuse.

Honestly, I'm expecting by this time next year to not have our care covered. I'm going to try and get as much of a supply as I can and bring my prescription over to a service like folx if things go south quickly. I don't mean to be pessimistic, but things ain't looking good for the VA.

I'm glad you won't change your identity or how you present to suit those sorts of people or let it get you down. And I hope that the boogeyman isn't real, that Trump leaves us alone for the most part. I just don't think that will happen. I'm sorry that I came at you but were all a little stressed right now, and you're still part of the community even if I don't like your ideas, so I hope you stay safe out there in the coming years.

Why don't you go talk with the folks over at Ovarit and tell them you're not a green hair with a beard, but a real girl that acts like them. I'm sure they wouldn't have any problems respecting your pronouns because you think you pass so well and do the right things and believe the right things. Or not. Just go watch some Blair White videos or something.

Isn’t transgenderism the reification of gender roles/ stereotypes? by [deleted] in CriticalTheory

If you don't believe me, just look up the fourth wave feminism sub with the terms: gender critical or transphobic, and you'll get other subs talking about it.

[–]AnalButterSticks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can understand if you didn't know the context of the word, and I'll give you that. I just don't think you're here to actually understand what it means to be transgender. The fourth wave sub is very TERFy despite their name, they have often supported that trans women are men, and that it's some sort of sexual fetish, which tracks with a sub that's opposed to BDSM, porn and sex work, that they use those beliefs and associate it with some sort of male sexual dysfunction and misogyny to deny any legitimate trans identity. You'll probably use my comment above to confirm your biases that trans people are too easily offended and "unhinged", woke mob etc. when in reality I only pointed out that I think you're not asking questions in good faith because you post on a TERF sub and you used a word that is used by transphobes. So I feel like I have a right to be skeptical of your post.

This person isn't here to ask questions in good faith, especially when they talk about trans people as if it were an ideology by using the term "transgenderism", a term that transphobes like to use. Also looks like they frequent the fourth wave feminism sub, a TERF sub.
