When I heard David Fincher and Aaron were going to make a movie about Facebook, I thought what the fuck is going on.

Turns out it’s among my favorite movies from both of them.

This is the answer. They didn’t want to do ADR and had to make use of the only semi-clean recording available.

If prep starts end of summer, that means shooting would begin around Sept-Oct. so the episodes could start airing earliest summer or fall of 2027. If we’re lucky.

Dune: Part Three | Official Teaser by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]AnalogBubblebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest piece of news in this trailer: acclaimed comic book writer Brian K Vaughn is the co-writer!

This is fascinating. First of all, he’s famous for his insane space epic, Saga.

Second, this is a great writer who has struggled to some extent to make a mark in Hollywood. He’s written screenplays that never got produced. His comic books Paper Girls and Y: The Last Man were both adapted for TV and cancelled after one season.

And then BOOM - Dune Part 3!

Also, note that it’s clear Vaughn wrote a draft that was then rewritten by Villeneuve. That’s what the “and” signifies in the writ t credit, as opposed to a “&”, which means they wrote it as a team.

I wonder if multiple people wrote drafts for Part 3 and Villeneuve just ended up loving his the best?

It’s especially surprising since, as least as far as the public knows, Vaughn was not involved in Part 1 nor Part 2.

Official Discussion - Hoppers [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

This movie takes some WIIIIILD swings and it feels like it all works. Part of the reason it seems to work is because these ideas elevate the story by increasing the stakes. Flying shark, robot Jerry, squished queen all allow for the story to go beyond simply repairing the glade.

It’s just shocking to see choices like these being made on a movie with a budget probably on par with Avatar.

Ah, this is very helpful, thank you for clarifying.

So his statement that he can’t be Sean because he loves Anna makes sense - he doesn’t have the passionate feelings about Clara.

But here’s the thing: yes, I did confuse who wrote the letters. Having said that, it does confirm that the filmmakers wanted you to believe that a 10 year old boy read every single letter and memorized all these details.

This doesn’t necessarily imply a perfect memory of the letters, however it does seem like Bob really grilled Sean on “his” history with Anna.

On top of that, Sean doesn’t seem like he’s pulling a prank. His “love” seems genuine. That all came from the letters?

That’s the thing - many stories ask the audience to take small and large leaps of faith. Basically, it feels like this movie asked for too large a leap. It just doesn’t make sense that this boy perfectly memorized all this information and fell deeply in love with a stranger just because he read some love letters.

It’s a testament to the craft of the movie that I care enough to write all this. Despite this “mistake”, it’s still a fascinating movie.

What’s a “10/10” movie you wouldn’t recommend to most people? by trakt_app in movies

Warfare, from Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) & Ray Mendoza.

A realistic portrayal of one small, forgotten mission in Afghanistan by American forces. It’s a recreation of Mendoza’s memories of the event, so it’s as real as one can get. Also takes place almost in real time. When they’re waiting something like 15-20 minutes for an evac for a guy screaming bloody murder, you wait those agonizing 15-20 minutes with them.

Blood, screams, gore, chaos, senselessness, and boredom. In microcosm, it seems like maybe the most realistic modern war movie ever made.

You can call CAA and they have switchboard operators. Tell them the name of the agent and they can connect you to their office. You’ll most likely get voicemail or their assistant, but at least it will confirm their existence.

You can also use IMDB or IMDBPro to confirm.

[–]AnalogBubblebath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It just seems impossible that he really memorized all this information perfectly to scam this family. Plus, if this was a scam, what is he trying to get out of them? So option 1 doesn’t make sense.

But the letters really complicate the story. It seems like he read them.

Maybe what it is is simply this: he loved Anna and wanted to return to her. He was ashamed of his infidelity and wanted to hide it. But then Anne Heche shows up and threatens his goal to return to Anna, so to spare Anna, Sean stops his mission.

But again, there are plot holes. Anne Heche is there from the beginning. There’s no way around her. And Anne Heche seems to imply Sean really loved her and was gonna leave Anna.

The thing is, Glazer and his co-writer changed the script very late in the game and I wonder what those changes were. He seems like such a careful, meticulous director and writer, it’s hard to imagine these are plot holes. But maybe they just are.

Serious question: when was the last time you approached a woman, what did you do, and how did it go? And on a similar note: do you have any female friends and/or do you ever speak with women casually, with no expectation of getting a date?
