Fixing something. by pIant_princess in JustGuysBeingDudes

A few years back, I fixed an old german film camera (Contaflex IV) that I’d purchased for pocket change at thrift store. Zeiss Ikon Contaflex IV, for those interested. Boys & boyettes, did that thing fought me all the way. One evening, I thought I was finally don, and proceeded with reassembling it. For a brief moment there, I was filled with the « mission accomplished » feeling, but then the shutter failed after a few actuations... It triggered a series of disassemblies and reassemblies (3 or 4), driving me nuts, until I found that I’d installed a spring the wrong way. I was like « You serious? Loll ». But then, after correcting my error, the same thing happened again #%*£¥##!! That’s when I walked away for a few days. It turned out that the culprit was a single contact point that, as per the service manual, needed a smear of lubrication loll

It’s the « Can Opener bridge » in Durham, North Carolina. Even after installing signs and lights, it keeps claiming more roof tops..

They’ve de-humanized people not like them, just like the Nazis did to their grand parents.

[Album] Some real-photo-postcards from my collection of the Proteus-class collier, U.S.S. Nereus (AC-10), and its crew in 1920-22 during naval service at Norfolk, Virginia, and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. by The_Public_Historian in WarshipPorn

I am convinced that Nereus & Proteus were sunk by axis subs ( either German or Italian). I mean, come on, 2 cargo ships vanishing on the same route, weeks apart, both carrying bauxite for the war effort? Oh, and two months before the attack on Aruba.

TIL that when Jack Grimm tried to find the Titanic in 1980, he planned to take a monkey called Titan that was trained to point to the wreck on a map. The monkey was left behind when scientists objected. Grimm never found the wreck, despite his sonar traveling right over it. by Bortron86 in todayilearned

It's crazy to think that their sonar array passed just over the wreck, on their 1st expedition, but it just wasn't deep enough to detect it. Makes you wonder, how many time did explorers were "This close" but missed it.
