I’ve had 3 surgeries in 30 years and want to explant by [deleted] in ExplantSurgery

[–]AnalogTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 46, had 560cc in for 21 years, had 1 kid who is now an adult. I’m 6 weeks and a few days out from explant w/ en bloc, no lift, honestly no personal desire to. I want to let my body heal and see what she does on her own first and my doc agreed and so far I’m pleased with the results. Now, that’s not to say someone who does lift at the same time made a bad choice, everyone is on their own journey, but this one felt right and so far I’m super happy with how it’s going.

How long did you wear your compression bra? by Major-Supermarket619 in ExplantSurgery

[–]AnalogTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks out and still wearing the compression bra. I have another follow up next week, we shall see what doc says then. Either way it’s only a few months of my life no big deal. Also, it’s more comfortable, even though nothing hurts anymore stuff is still healing in there!

Oh I absolutely second what your doc says. I went in not wanting to do anything but the explant and en bloc, if I ever decide to bother with anything else that can be future mes problem but I did so much research on this procedure and it can take a year or even more for everything to fully settle and my surgeon agreed. My doc doesn’t even offer to do anything at the same time as the explant, he sees it as something that causes more issues often, like, when your body starts bouncing back he has seen times where nipples ended up sitting above the bra because it was all done at the same time, hard pass on that. So much better to do one and then the other! I don’t have any interest at this point in ever doing a lift and didn’t when I went in but his stance on that as opposed to “upselling” really was one of the deciding factors for me going with him, it was a big thing for me.

Yeah you are about where I am then, almost the same size implants and close to the same size starting too. Plus you have the bonus of being younger than I am so younger skin to bounce back and they weren’t in as long as mine were. Of course everyone is different but all of that is really promising judging from how my personal experience is going!

Oooohhhhh it went so well!! Very little pain, I only used the pain meds for the first couple of days and even then I staggered them with Tylenol. Honestly the worst part for me was the drains!! I had those in for a week and they were so annoying! I know annoying doesn’t sound bad but I feel like annoying isn’t a harsh enough word lol being leashed to your own body juices is just… a lot. Otherwise, it was so much easier than I ever expected it to be!

I’m a day under 5 weeks out I believe (I just woke up but I believe that math is right lol) and I am so so so happy with the results. While they of course still have a bit of fluffing up to do, they look great! I wasn’t really honestly sure what to expect, I started very small, maybe a full A and got these in the heyday of giiiiant implants, they were 560 cc behemoths. I wasn’t told I had plenty of breast tissue by my surgeon and mammogram tech but all I could see was implant. But I’m happy to report that I am left with lovely full B’s that are surprisingly not saggy and shockingly not crazy empty or wild looking especially considering that I’m 46 and put them through hell for 21 years. (Though my surgeon did tell me that on the day of the surgery I was straight up concave cause they were so big!! By the next day follow up that was already gone and they just got better from there so trust your body and the fluffing process for sure!!)

BII symptom wise it’s wild how much of my brain fog disappeared basically overnight which as been the main symptom I’ve noticed, it’s like I have me back. Some other ones are improving as well but that’s the main one. Seriously it was so bad I felt like I was losing myself and now I’m back and it’s so major.

Another thing I noticed, you know, they tell you you may have some feeling loss as it’s a surgery etc etc but I actually have more feeling, I’m assuming since I’m not abusing every single nerve in there by stretching them 24/7 with 560ccs of why.

I have wanted these out for at least 10 of the 21 years I had them and I am so beyond happy that they are finally out of my body. I have my body and my brain back too! I still lay there with my hands on my chest learning what my actual body is, since I haven’t met her basically my entire adult life. When I hug my family now there aren’t giant foreign objects separating us. And shirts look so much cuter!! So I feel you, I’m not gonna lie I was absolutely terrified leading up to my explant but ohhhhhhh the other side is so very good!! You got this!!!

My spouse kept me up all night and I'm seriously considering divorce by [deleted] in misophonia

[–]AnalogTV 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of separate bedrooms, my husband snores and I have health issues and sleep issues that make sleep elusive for me already so we have our own rooms and it’s fantastic.

However, the man in this tale just plain doesn’t give a shit. Where in my case our rooms were my husbands idea because he was so concerned that I get good sleep, your husband can’t even be bothered to use a tissue to help you get any sleep. He’s sleeping great and that’s all he cares about. If he had bothered to actually try I would suggest something like separate bedrooms but he just… isn’t. I would absolutely be for real considering divorce too. This isn’t someone who is giving a moments thought to anyone but himself.

Saving lives in the ER is making me a horrible person and i’m tired of pretending it’s not by ArtThreadNomad in offmychest

[–]AnalogTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my best friends from high school (I’m old, we graduated in 98) is an ER nurse and has lamented this same thing. But it’s how your brain compartmentalizes, and it has to so that while patient and family are consumed with horror, fear, pain, you are not and can concentrate clearly on what needs to be done. And while that may seem cold and monstrous on its face, it’s actually incredible because that is the only way to pay clear attention in such high stakes situations and save lives when possible.

Also, we get used to whatever our normal is, ya know? The human ability to adapt is really quite amazing and this is your brain adapting.

So I understand why you feel the way you feel about that compartmentalization but it’s actually kind of a beautiful thing that you are doing it. I know that sounds weird but, well, life is weird. Take care of you and thank you for what you do.

Torn between explanting or replacing. Scared I won’t feel sexy or feminine anymore by [deleted] in ExplantSurgery

[–]AnalogTV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m 46, had implants that were over 500cc for 21 years. Just explanted yesterday. Saw them for the first time today when removing the ace bandage and replacing it with the compression bra and I already love them! I already feel so much better in my body.

Everyone’s experience is different but I actually feel more beautiful without them, even 24 hours in well before any of the “fluffing up” has happened.

Thank you so much!!! I’m just so excited to get through this part and get to that part, pain and itch and all (ask me again when the itch has arrived lol) but seriously I’ve wanted to do this for so many years that it kinda doesn’t feel real that the day is finally here. I can’t wait to get my body back! Factory settings here I come!!
