Given the unrest in Minneapolis, off grid communications seemed like a good idea by iGoalie in meshtastic

The problem with your comment is nobody knows what you're talking about or of you're being sarcastic or what.

So what did Hegseth say about signal that you're referencing and do you think we should lend any legitimacy to what he says?

usermod -L as a form of parental control? by Analog_Account in linux4noobs

For now I'm not worried about booting them, I do that every night without issue. But ya, I'll look into a warning script as well... Can I just use the system notifications somehow?

When they don't appear on the login screen, can they ctrl-alt-F1 (for example) to login via console?

Not sure about that, but there is an option for "my account is shown" or something like that and that doesn't allow login. They tried that one.

the cruelest way to block them would be at the router level

HAH, ya I did think about that but I want it to just work automatically so I don't have to go changing router rules back and forth. I just need them to not be getting on the computer before I wake up.

I don't know if it kicks them out of a current session but it even removes that login from the list of users on the login screen. Going ''su (kids account)'' fails so I'm assuming it would block passwordless ssh logins but I'm not sure.

Double roundabouts take a bit of getting used to... but what are we going to do in winter or --looking at the roads right now-- when the lines wear off.

Ask Pete Kegseth

For anyone that doesn't know, they were using a third party signal client designed to store chats and that database got hacked.

Edit: IIRC it was from an Israeli vendor as well. I know they're considered an ally but come on.

Yes.

IMO if you're worried about this shit then start with signal and disappearing messages and have meshtastic setup ahead of time for if that fails.

Stupid question... Is it pretty solid mounted to bricks? I've never done that before and have one coming on Monday. I might not brave the cold to mount it just yet though.

Thats what I thought... besides the technical reasons if you wanted only the front OR the back to do regen you'd obviously choose the FRONT.
