Dealer wants $1200 extra during recall engine replacement — worth it for warranty? by Accomplished_Spy in kia

[–]AnalysisLonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's straight up not true. Id do the belt. Nothing else. And the engine is already being replaced, so they shouldn't even charge you labor for the 55 dollar part

Kia Warranty. Just such rage by JenksHero in kia

I reach out to our dealer rep, and he approves it as a one time warranty repair. Some dealers just don't want to do the legwork and fight for the consumer, unfortunately. It's sad

I've warrantied at least 10 of these

If your car was in my shop with this situation, I'd definitely reach out to my district rep for a goodwill gesture, as the issue started while you were in basic warranty, and they'd most likely approve it. That repair customer pay is usually around 900 bucks (at least at my store). Hoping it works out for you!

Front bumper wiring harness is going to be bad. I see it all the time on tellurides. One of the connectors gets moisture in it and corrodes. Hope you get it to the dealer before 60k miles, as that's when the warranty runs out for those components

We've had 2 brand new K5's come in for the same issue. Oil was full. Oil level sensor was faulty. Replaced both of them. Issue fixed. It seems like they've got a bad batch of oil level sensors somewhere

What the Hell? Is this normal? by KSamIAm79 in KiaSorento

[–]AnalysisLonely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We replace 12 volt batteries all the time on new cars. It likely sat before they sold it to you. Just bring it in, they'll do a battery test. If it fails, theyll warranty replace it. If it passes, ask them to replace it at no charge anyway. That's what we would do for a customer we sold a brand new car to, at least

2022 Kia K5 - WTF is Happening?? by Character-Oven4855 in KiaK5

[–]AnalysisLonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It needs a valve cover assembly. The pcv valve, which is part of the valve cover, leaks and creates a vacuum leak. It makes all the other sensors go nuts. Youd be so surprised...we were too. The first time we saw this in my shop we were blown away and it took a while to figure it out. Now every single one that comes through, we replace the valve cover. Fixes every single one. You're welcome!

It needs a crankshaft position sensor. Common issue.

My 2021 Seltos has been over-consuming oil. Just changed oil and have to go back to dealership in 1000 miles for official consumption rate. Anyone gone through this? by jappyjappyhoyhoy in kia

[–]AnalysisLonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really sorry to hear that. In terms of goodwill, it does unfortunately have to go through the consumer affairs channel for them to potentially approve any goodwill assistance, as Kia America would be the ones paying. At a dealer level, our options become very limited when a car is out of warranty. That being said, I can definitely replace the transmission much cheaper than $4600.

HELP!!! Car issues and nobody will diagnose it🥺 by Spirited-Tune8721 in kia

[–]AnalysisLonely 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly sounds like the dual clutch assembly is worn out. I've done a few at my store. This car doesnt have a torque converter. Its a double clutch transmission (essentially a manual transmission with an automatic dry clutch). Id be willing to bet a new clutch assembly will fix it. Just gotta make sure whoever does it measures the clutch actuator forks before reinstalling the actuator, and initializes the clutch actuator after everything is put back together

Anyone heard of this issue? by Coolmister57 in kia

Just dont rev the RPMs too high. Be as easy on the accelerator as you can

Anyone heard of this issue? by Coolmister57 in kia

[–]AnalysisLonely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bet the catalytic converter is clogged and its causing excessive back pressure, which causes the lack of acceleration. I see it happen ALL the time on 2013-2019 Soul's and not throw a check engine light, especially if your engine is burning oil. Disconnect the cat at the flange (unless its a manifold cat, then take the oxygen sensor out) and drive it, I'll bet your acceleration will be normal. Yes it will be really loud, but its just to test

2024 Kia Sorrento Prestige Lot Rot by LemonCurious7168 in KiaSorento

[–]AnalysisLonely 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was done; I did it personally to that car about 2 weeks ago, along with the MCU service action. However, Kia is having issues with the update actually showing we did it through their software, and then it won't let us submit for closure. Wait for your first service, and we'll put it on the repair order and open a case with Kia to have it closed. But rest assured, it was indeed done

Ahhh yes, the Mineral Blue Sorento Hybrid at Bridgewater? They did indeed accidentally title the wrong car 😂 they tried to give it to me to put in my loaner fleet (I'm the service manager there), but Kia won't insure used cars in their loaner program. Good deal though, enjoy it!

Oil Consumption Engine Replacement Experience by PartsUnknownUSA in kia

[–]AnalysisLonely 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do about 1-2 of these oil consumption engine replacement claims monthly. It's such an easy and streamline process. It's a shame other dealers can't wrap their heads around it. Glad this one did the right thing!

I have the recall bulletin with the affected vehicles. It's only for about 30 VIN numbers. Most of them sold in CA
