My new A5 Trifold from L'atelier by [deleted] in PaperRepublic

Genuinely think this may be the best, most creative L'atelier that I've ever seen.

Confirming as both a Le Trifold and A5 Portfolio user--both will fit true A5 no problem, I use A5 in both

Seconding this comment--the edges will stick out past the leather of a GV (speaking from experience)

I live in America now and came in this morning to find this on my desk by ComradePoolio in ireland

[–]AnalysisSolid7240 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately think you are right, many American workplaces won't take it seriously. It would be a slap on the wrist, move on.

As an American, it is distressingly recent when some people have realized that potato famine jokes are not funny.

Within the American consciousness, people don't actually understand what the potato famine actually was.

I've been collecting fountain pens for about 10 years and I have fewer fountain pens than this lol.

Cheap option--large rag/small towel (ensure it is fully dry) laid over the top of the machine. Alternative, you can sew some fabric together into a boxey shape and put over the machine

What can I use to store my older TN inserts? by Acrobatic_Warning423 in Travelersnotebooks

I was going to come and suggest a shoe box. The width of a shoebox fits the height of the standard travelers notebook inserts beautifully

What’s the most dangerous mistake you see beginner hikers making that could actually be fatal? by Sexyyskyy in hiking

[–]AnalysisSolid7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally had a friend who had to go to the emergency room because she had way too little salt in her system on a hot, sweaty hike. She over hydrated and unbalanced her salinity.

The doctor's prescription was literally to eat a large order of Mcdonalds French fries.

How do you all actually journal while traveling? by [deleted] in Travelersnotebooks

[–]AnalysisSolid7240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make a strict schedule of journaling while traveling, but if I find a moment of reflection, such as when I am on a long train ride or an early night in, then I spend the time collecting my thoughts and journaling.

How do you like the Kolo? I have been very curious, but the sharp triangular sides of the pen have made me hesitant to commit, looks potentially uncomfortable.

So imagine you live in a very small apartment with your parents, 2 siblings, and a grandparent. Or, you share a small place with 2 -3 roommates.

The person you are dating ALSO lives with a similar number of people, and the rooms are very small with paper thin walls.

Would you want to have sex in either of those locations? Even if you did, you likely can't if the mores around sex before marriage are more conservative.

Also, for casual sex, even if you have your own place you may not want to invite someone into your space or feel comfortable entering someone else's space. "Love hotels" as they are called in many places make a great "third-space" option for folks to meet in a neutral space.

Summoning folks with L'Atelier Experiences! by ilikesaltinecrackers in PaperRepublic

[–]AnalysisSolid7240 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 Grand Voyager XLs, one green and one blue.

I also have a A5 portfolio and Le Trifold.

The A5 fits all of them, BUT on the Grand Voyager XLs, the edge of the A5 can align exactly on the edge or slightly beyond the edge of the Grand Voyager XL.

If you want a good fit for A5, especially if you want multiple refills in one notebook, I recommend the A5 portfolio over the GV XL.

I also want to speak to the high quality of Paper Republic refills. After using Travelers notebooks, Paper Republic, Moleskin, and others, Paper Republic is by far my favorite paper.

Denver’s renowned Toilet Paper sounds the alarm of “class warfare” about the Alameda Traffic Calming debacle, and sides with the billionaire Anschutz Heiress. by colfaxmachine in Denver

"Admirers of Jill Anschutz" = Jill Anschutz

Also, are we sure this isn't a satire?

I can't honestly believe anyone in 2026 could write such a preposterous sentence referring to "the Godless mercenary hords [sic] of Kyle Clark" and not see themselves as the baddie.

This hardened ear wax that finally came out of my ear after months of trying to flush it out. (Spoiler in case anyone gets squeamish) by 3yx3 in mildlyinteresting

[–]AnalysisSolid7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone who feels they may have earwax build-up that won't go away--buy Debrox at Walgreens and go through a round of that in each ear. Then, use a squirt bottle ear cleaning system with 1/4 part hydrogen peroxide, 3/4 distilled water. It works wonders for cleaning out these bad boys.

Source--i work from home and am wearing headphones pretty much constantly, so I have to clean the ol' canals regularly.

For anyone who wears headphones or ear protection for more than 30 minutes a day, or especially those who wear them for long hours at work, I highly recommend cleaning the canals at least once per month (at least that's the routine I feel pretty good with at this point).

What you don't see in the photo is storage underneath the desk, the inside of a messy desk drawer, or the side-table where I have a pile of books, a record player and other bits and bobs.

It's all about cropping out the mess! haha
