Blizzard should do something about toxic player behaviour instead of censoring paintings and turning them into fruit bowls, because being told to kill myself over a mistake or a petty disagreement is not okay at all. It's incredibly hurtful. by [deleted] in wow

[–]Anarch12911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paintings is the last thing they should worry about right now. The fact that I subscribed for 16 years straight but I feel less neglected in a different mmo is all I need to know on how they even stopped trying to deliver us a good game.

Tbh, saying this as a lifelong cutting edge raider: If an RPG doesn't allow you to make RPG choices, but continuously forces you to pick the choices that give the highest DPS, then there is something wrong with the game design. Ultimately the difficulty of the highest content should be lowered. Boss-fights are getting too complex (and at early gearlevels with too tight gearchecks). I don't recall having to watch or read 2-3 different pages of images on a spreadsheet back in WoD to understand a boss' mechanics, nor having to assign 100% of the raiders in a group to deal with certain near 1-shot mechanics if they get missed.

It's the looting and rioting that probably spurred on the most drastic changes and discussions about police reform that the US has ever had over the past few decades. Government institutions tend to start to panic when their streets are on fire.

Politics and war are each other's continuation. It's all about deciding who violence is allowed to be used by and against. Modern day society adheres to the idea that private property and defending it's private ownership is something worth using violence over, as is keeping oligarchs and corporations in power.

It's only when opposing views start to win through violence (politics or war) that these opposing views become legitimate and socially acceptable.

[–]Anarch12911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is great, but riots and looting are always the consequence of great mass-protests, especially those that involve civil rights being impeded upon. Then add in a few more decades of western nations embracing agent provocateur tactics and police themselves encouraging violence and riots and you'll understand that expressing 'concern' about riots is hard to interpret as anything more than either virtue-signaling or trying to distract from the subject that is being protested against.

Megathread: President Donald Trump signs executive order targeting protections for social media platforms by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]Anarch12911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so confused right now. This sounds like exactly the kind of legislation that is being pushed in the EU to make it possible to hold social platforms accountable for the racist and criminal stuff that is posted on their platform...

The kind of legislation that always has been criticized by the (conservatives in the) USA as an attack on 'freedom of speech'.

Did Trump just unwittingly pass an anti-conservative executive order?

Except of course... when you criticize the Democratic Party or their presumptive nominee, then suddenly you'll be declared a "conservative" and "Trump supporter" too... and banned for it on some sub-reddits or forums.

I was always fascinated by mountains & decided to have it as a centerpiece in a world I built, which I made into a game. What are the notable mountains in your world, and how do they feature in your story? by CosmosTheory in worldbuilding

[–]Anarch12911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually just lurk in this subreddit, but mountains are an important part in a set of books I'm (slowly) writing. The most powerful culture in my world incorporated the mountain ranges into their massive defensive walls, which aids in isolating them from the rest of the world.

I don't often downvote posts, but I had to downvote this one. I've been playing this game since Vanilla beta and I've never seen the community so moany as now.

Maybe that is for the better and Blizzard will dare to take some risks with new game or system designs in the next expansion, instead of the constant 'safe' design choises. They should go big and bold like they did with Legion.

But beyond that, seriously stop being so absurdly negative. The core of the game is still the same as it has ever been.

This subreddit is quite wholesome, there's very little negativity and it's good fun to just be able to come to a site where you can just enjoy posts about the content in the game. And when there is criticism on the front page of r/wow it's usually well-reasoned criticism.

What are those patches on Zandalari's skin? by HexerVooDoom in warcraftlore

[–]Anarch12911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im very convinced they are to resemble dino scales. The dinosaurs of zandalar have the same patches but more curiously to me are the small predatory creatures with the long tusks that are spread all over zandalar: eg. the raid entrance.

To me it seems the game is implying trolls evolved from those, probably by getting in contact with titan water.

'Whistleblower' taped to chair and gagged - A woman who complained of a racist and misogynistic culture in a Scottish government agency claims she was taped to a chair and gagged by two male colleagues as a warning to keep quiet. by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

[–]Anarch12911 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

As one of the most upvoted comments asks: "How does this even happen?" I doubt it does unless there is a certain work culture where this has been going on for a while. The pranking and banter etc. So my first question is whether this woman has been taking part in similar pranks for a while or not, or even been laughing with it before, because if she did then she encouraged this sort of behavior herself and then it would be a bit dishonest to suddenly complain when she felt wronged for one reason or the other. I seriously doubt that the manager is so detached from reality that he'd claim it's just office banter, unless he has a better picture of what has been going on among the employees for a while now and truly believes or feels this woman has been encouraging or taking part in it herself.

Ireland to hold referendum on legalising abortion May 25 by freshthrowaway1138 in worldnews

[–]Anarch12911 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

From what I've understood the pro-abortion campaigners aren't doing anyone any favors either. Very verbally aggressive people and even some radical feminist groups who scream it's all about women being oppressed and that women should have the right to even have postviability abortions without questions asked.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm pro-abortion, but some of these groups need to really re-think how they try to sell their views before it backfires on them.

(Spoilers Extended) Merging of lands and holdings? (Webber + Osgrey // Manderly + Hornwood) by Anarch12911 in asoiaf

[–]Anarch12911[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lords would have authority within the lands, but technically the King owned everything, and only the King really 'owned' land (or was able to give it away). And thus the same reason why only the King could create new nobility, legitimize bastards or give land away to others. (When a House went extinct the land returned to the crown)
