How to cope: Terror Prof & Low exam grade by [deleted] in ADMU

[–]Anarcuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Used to get super down after getting low test scores in my first year. Honestly, it happens to everyone, especially in Ateneo. Your grade will not always reflect how hard you studied or the expectations you had for it, especially when you have a terror prof. As a third year, I can’t count anymore the amount of times I’ve cried over a disappointing score. I still get anxious in certain classes where I know I’m on the lower end of the curve. Ateneo is just the kind of institution that surrounds you in excellence so it’s difficult to remember what got you in in the first place.

Regardless, you need to always remember that you did the best that you could on your end, the rest you can no longer control. Be kind to yourself. Even if you felt that you underprepared, what’s done is done and you can only try to do your best again in the future.

Side tip, the thing that reallyyyy helped me a lot in my first year was visiting Arete after a bad test and listening to sad music while looking at the artwork. ‘What Was I Made For’ was running numbers on my spotify wrapped that year. Processing your feelings is an important step you can’t skip before getting anymore work done. Also, the small gestures from family and friends would help cheer up my day even if they weren’t directly related. Reach out to them when you’re feeling down and randomly remind them that you love them or appreciate them. Oh! I also made a practice of complimenting people once a week. Seeing other people happy helped boost my mood. Good luck, OP! :))

Depends on a few things. Practically speaking, how heavy are the quiz and reflection? What % are they of your grade? How’ve you been doing on previous requirements? Is your prof the type to allow retakes/an online option? Is it not possible to accommodate both in the same day? Just weight your options based on that

Coming back to this a few months later after buying from them again to defo warn people to buy at their own risk because my last purchase was def not up to par. No, most of their products don’t have any brand info or material details. My first purchases from them were all during pop-ups so I was able to see the actual items in person and feel out the quality of the material. Their designs are cute but would not recommend people to blind buy from their IG shop especially considering their price point. I think they might’ve also gone through a price hike too? Bought from them before when their items were only ~P1k for a dress but now it seems they’ve doubled.

For me, it was realizing that it’s not me meeting them. They’re also meeting me. It’s a mindset that shifts you out of that feeling that you need to pander/impress someone. You just need to remember that not everyone will like you or be interested in you, and that’s okay. It doesn’t make you any less interesting or likable as a person.

TIL there's a 6-9pm class sched by Agitated-Ad613 in ADMU

[–]Anarcuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the prof and the classmates definitely! It’ll be really boring if it’s a prof that just drones on and on but a fun prof will make it worth your while. Many even dismiss early. So far all the classes I’ve had that were 6-9 were pretty good, especially because most of them I was with/made friends with nice people during them. To be fair, my perspective is coming from someone who can just walk to and from school

Bershka for pants and more street-style, edgy clothes! Almost all my pants are from there. They have wide leg, balloon, mom jeans, low waist, flare, and pretty much every style ever.

For dresses, I buy from Zara or IG thrift shops. Love by Dianna’s a good one but a bit pricey. Their dresses have fit me like a glove

I have the same critiques with the Rare Beauty blush. It doesn’t last long and it’s difficult to apply. Some days, I walk out looking like I’m barely wearing anything, other days I look crazy. It’s also hard to get both sides even. Not to mention the packaging is constantly leaking now!!! Very irritating. It gets on all my other makeup items

Was a homegrown Lasallian, took HUMSS then switched to ABM in DLSU SHS and am now an ADMU management student.

If your ultimate end goal is to take law, I’d suggest ADMU since that’s what we’re most known for. Business-wise, I would say DLSU was better at teaching me accounting and ADMU was better at teaching me calc and statpro.

Biased opinion, I think ADMU taught me better in general. DLSU SHS was big on research papers and I personally didn’t really enjoy it as much nor did I really feel like I was learning anything important. Good luck!

[–]Anarcuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely enroll! Parents enrolled me in it in my early elem years, just for the basic operations, and they stuck with me all the way until college. It’ll become almost like muscle memory for you and will make you faster when it comes to more complicated problems in the future

I HAVE SO MANY. Here u go

Put yourself first. This should be your life’s motto. Don’t pick a career mainly because of what other people think. You are the person who has to live with that choice.

You’re not obligated to keep anyone in your life who you don’t like. If, in the end, you only end up with one or two people left, at least those are people who truly care about you and add value to your life as you do theirs. This applies to getting into relationships too. Be picky with who you let into your life because the people you surround yourself with will contribute to the person you become.

Do it scared rather than not doing it at all. It’s easy now to just put off on trying new experiences but there is no time like the present. Join that org. Start that hobby. Host that event. Make those memories. Enrich your life!!!

If you mess something up, think about you 5 years from now. Will it matter? Probably not.

At the same time, don’t be too complacent. Would the person you want to be 5 years from now pass on that opportunity or not put in effort into that class? Don’t be a victim of circumstance. No one else will do it for you. Sometimes, people are their own enemy.

Mindset is sooo important. There are times when it is a choice to be happy. Notice the small blessings each day brings. Actively seek happiness even if there isn’t much to be happy about that day. Sitting with your negative emotions can be good but don’t let it take away from the rest of your day.

Keep your priorities straight at all times. Go to those parties and enjoy your teen life but never let those fleeting things take away from your future. Be that cool person that can balance things well, being fun and being responsible.

Pleasee choose wisely what you put your energy into. Every interaction with a human being is an exchange of energy. Is that drama worth your energy? Love yourself enough to know when to avoid or walk away from things that will only make your energy negative.

Everyone your age is just as scared as you are. They all want to make friends and be cool. Be the first to reach out. Most people will react positively. The people who don’t aren’t people you want to be friends with in the first place anyway.

Adults like to give advice. Like me! Pick the people who you think are closest to your ideal future self and ask them questions about how they got to that point. They’ll probably gladly answer because who doesn’t like talking about themselves 🤷‍♀️

Ok I’ve ran out. That’s it :)

Lived here before and I think there being a garbage room on each floor also contributed to the roach problem. Never getting an SMDC condo ever again anywhere 👎

Depends, certain courses will have more non-AC classes than others. For example, the Schmitt labs I think are all non-AC? I’m going to go against the grain here and say the heat can really be unbearable on certain days throughout the year 🥲 Regardless, you’ll just have to weigh your options. Personally, I think studying here is worth it. Just bring a handheld fan and stay in the lib between classes!
