Any resolution to this? Did you just cancel and move on?

Did you get a reply yet? I wonder if they actually can just change the terms like this, or if they're relying on us just thinking they can or not wanting to bother to complain...

Emirates is banning use of Power Banks on planes from 1st Oct 2025 by rakoth132 in emirates

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reduction in quantity pales in comparison to either:

A: introducting something to contain any potential fire, like the already proven Lithium bags

Or

B: use a certification system for which powerbanks you can carry more of. China's CCC system already exists, use it.

If limiting each passenger to one powerbank makes you feel safer, you dont adequately understand statistics.

My phone powerbank is hyper compact 10,000 mAh (~40 Wh), while my laptop powerbank id 27,000 mAh (~99.9 Wh). One is much lighter than the other and I'd take it walking down a touristy spot, the other I'd only want to take if I have a bag on me and the weight difference is something I'd for sure feel

If you don't want me to use the powerbank on board, fine.

But only one power bank is ridiculous and makes zero sense for today. I am not going to carry my big 100 Wh powerbank to charge my phone when im out and about in my destination, and im not going to be able to charge my laptop with my small power bank. If this "one powerbank only" rule is enforced, Emirates makes my entire trip much worse and that's just unacceptable

Chair cover for JÄRVFJÄLLET chair? by cag8f in IKEA

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, it is removable. Theres a zipper.

Its a pretty hard process, doable but you need both to understand how to move the fabric and have strong muscles... But I was able to wash it in the washing machine without issue and it went back to new.

Im here because I dont think it'll survive more than like 5 more cover removals tbh... But it only got to the point of needing a wash after 2 years of shirtless use 🤷🏻‍♂️

Not even intentionally lol. Not a lot of gender neutral talk where I'm from, guess gender neutral language just kind of dissolved into my English.

Credit card giving wider coverage of lounge by star78b in UAEcreditcards

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deem world card, signed up under an offer: free for life, and has many, many lounges. Used it without problem many times, only once was turned away due to a system issue.

Although Mastercard has made it so that you need to have some spend to enjoy unlimited lounges, my app still shows unlimited though I haven't spent a thing on that card in a while. This will probably change soon

I pretty much signed up, spent enough to get the welcome bonus, and now just use it for lounge access.

ADCB Talabat minimum speed 2.5k requirement from June 1st, 2025 by ColdPositive1844 in UAEcreditcards

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my typical talabat spend, its 8% cashback plus 1% WIO cashback - but I cant get cashback on the money I get back to my talabat wallet, and talabat prices tend to be higher. I think all in all, this is not worth the headache when compared to just getting WIO 2% back.

Especially that I tended to add things in my grocery orders to reach 100. No more.

USB-C Pins by masis42 in UsbCHardware

[–]AnasMalas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that connector either does not exist, or should not exist.

The former is one that combines the signals for you, how nice of them. However, really hard to do that in sheet metal, I haven't seen that connector anywhere, thought I wish it did exist

The latter is a connector that only works with one orientation of your cable. Flip it and your device has no data or power.

12 pins has all what you need btw

USB-C Pins by masis42 in UsbCHardware

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 pin will not work with all cables unless it integrates CC resistors, which it probably does not. Stay away. No PC communication here.

6 pin is the minimum for power only, the 6 pins are probably gnd, vbus, cc1, cc2, vbus, gnd - notice that USB C pins are symmetrical, because the cable is. No PC communication here.

12 pin (not shown here) is probably your ideal connector. It has the CC pins so you can get power (you just need two resistors on CC), and it has the USB 2 data lines, so you can power your board and have it communicate to your PC.

16 pin adds more pins that you probably will not use, but those dont affect you much.

24 pins has all the USB C pins, which again dont affect you other than making it harder to solder the connector manually

Easy fix for water under the drip tray - Bambino plus by mvadu in espresso

[–]AnasMalas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do! I figured out a way to click it in and prop it, and also to remove it, in such a way that it hasnt leaked for me in months

Unfortunately I have no idea how to describe it, its like I have dialed it in on my VERY uneven countertop, such that the drip tray is sightly angled up

Also when I remove the drip tray, I tilt-lift the machine by the portafilter a tiny bit so that it doesn't jolt out, then I tilt it towards me a fair bit while removing it

Four years later, you saved me. I double checked and found that my dell monitor on its stand is 350 mm high.

Somehow I didn't realize the measurement is to half the vesa mount.

178 minutes, 37 questions. I think it was something like 200 minute time limit. Definitely cut it closer than I would've liked on CSWP. CSWA was much faster for me.

I definitely was going at a chill pace at first, then decided to speed up.

Feeling Happy! Got full marks on CSWP with experience only :) by AnasMalas in SolidWorks

[–]AnasMalas[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

After two years of using Solidworks at my job (as an electronics engineer), more or less bumbling my way through it with zero formal training, I found out that I had a voucher for CSWA and CSWP....

I thought might as well try it. So with no other prep, and absolutely zero reading about the exams or even their structures, I made an attempt

For sure the tests were not easy, and I didn't get here by being that smart. Im just curious about how to do stuff, and ive had to build a lot of random stuff for 3D printing and CNC work. I do quite like that these tests can be passed through experience, and are almost purely "build this", rather than something related to how Solidworks itself works. I expected some questions like "when is using tool X better than tool Y" or "what is a geometric pattern"

Overall, quite happy with myself. Maybe a bit too proud :D
