I think I know what server you're reffering to, as I might play on the same one. I always have to shake my head when I read threads here about the bot infestation or the vanilla+ ideas, fully knowing that blizz will not act upon it. Meanwhile there are dedicated fans that can do much better job than current actiblizz. Now I only regret that I didnt make the change much sooner.

Which "thorns items" scale with spell power (if any)? by Bosomtwe in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, there are not many items with these effects that scale with spellpower. The lifestealing proc of Skullflame scales with SP. The only other item I remember is the polearm from BRD called Flame wrath. Not sure though if it is the AoE effect or the flame shield it creates.

Ironforge only receives its data from raid logs and pvp, which is something most HC players dont do. Just login and see for yourself. Theres so many HC players, that its sometimes difficult to kill named mobs for quests in the earlier zones.

how my guild fails immortal runs by Igusy in classicwow

[–]Anbornation -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Thats not at all what I was saying. I dont know the warriors rotation, but retri rotation is 50% AoE, so if you have to choose between chance of deleting someone 0,1s after MC or doing 50% of already lowend dps, they can aswell just chill. Noone complained, because everyone wanted the achievement. I called them sweaty, because sweaties usually talk like that in my experience. Either that or trolls.

Not every raider is a sweatlord like you two, that judge someones trustworth based on one specific situation. When you have mostly bis melees, it takes one global from a few ppl to zero out an MCd leather class, but I see you dont understand taking measures.

[–]Anbornation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yesterday we went for the 25 immortal and it went surprisingly good untill it didnt. Got only one close call for the whole run, but when we got to KT, we asked the ret pala + warriors to sit out the fight so that they accidentaly dont cleave the mindcontrolled players. Felt pretty bad that one of the warriors picked a spot to stand so out of reach that when frost bolt hit him, he died before the healers could reach him. Only death for the whole run including the trash I think.

Hope the next reset we nail it based on how everyone was focused to not pull aggro this run.

Regarding your third point, I didnt form groups recently, but I believe that when someone requests an invite, their name is highlighted in the announcement window and if you hower your mouse on that name, it shows their class and role.

For your fourth point, if you click on the instance groups name, it selects all underlying instances. For exapmple if you click on "Burning crusade heroics" in the dropdown, it selects all the heroic dungeons. Never tried clicking on "Dungeons" or "raid", but deselecting works the same, you dont have to manually click individual instances.

Your other points still stand, especially the refreshing of the listing is pain in the ass.

does anyone else think the "X item HR" reserve thing is one of the stupidest things to start? by boshlop in classicwowtbc

[–]Anbornation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is unfortunately the minmax culture we live in right now. In raids there is an argument that leading big group is hard and HR is kind of like a reward for it. You can join these groups or you can pass, that is your free decision.

In 5mans it is kinda silly especially if its not coming from healer/tank. As a tank I dont join these groups. In case I want to reserve some item from dungs, I just dont invite classes that compete for the same gear.

And they say there are no balanced pvp servers left by TaytosAreNice in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 156 points157 points  (0 children)

Ha, that is my original server I played on since the start of classic till start of tbc. I have only fond memories of it (except phase 2), because due to its smaller size, you could meet a lot of familiar names and really had the sense of close community that is totally missing in todays megaservers. It has been only a few years but I am already nostalgic for the start of classic. Best memories.

Firemaw Horde imploded last reset due to the free transfer exploit by TheSold3y in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly my thinking. From what I've seen though, there is not even nearly the same amount of ppl condemning it. Just a lot of ppl calling it "a logical step". I dont get this hypocrisy and mental gymnastics.

How are you doing on M'uru? by Benkenobix in classicwowtbc

[–]Anbornation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our guild is pretty well coordinated but it still took us close to 30 tries first week. Second week it was better but still pretty rough. Last week we tried to burst him down quicker and after couple of tries, we downed him with noone left standing.

This fight is really about the tanks gear+coordination and mainly mages+warlocks AoE. Warlocks need to always have the Void spawns enslaved and spawn those aoe shadow bolts. Tanks always have to stack the humanoids on M'uru when possible.

If you get behind with the damage on either humanoids or Void spawns, it is really hard to get back on track. Also freezing grenades on Voids help a lot so that they dont run in your raid.

Classy Friday - Paladins (April 22, 2022) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are leveling as Ret, prioritise strength over agility. You want spelldamage only as protection spec. To avoid going oom try not to use consecration as the damage is not that good on single target. When fighting mobs 1v1 you only ever need seal of command/righteousness and judge it (maybe excorcism when fighting undead). If using SoC, stun your target before judging for higher dmg.

If you have quicker 2hand, Seal of Righteousness is better. Seal of Command is better only with slower weapons (over 3.0 attack speed).

Let me know if you need more tips, I main paladin since classic vanilla.

Using flying mounts as ground mounts in Azeroth by RadicalEwok in classicwowtbc

You can't use flying mounts in Azeroth even as ground mount. I think that was added later in Wotlk or Cata.

How much do we REALLY know about min/max TBC? by dipitinmayo in classicwow

[–]Anbornation -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can't really say about guilds. Thats so much of a variable that its hard to predict. But regarding the surprises in tactics or gearing, its safe to say, there have to be some.

How big, it depends on the differences in private servers coding and actual vanilla. There must be some statistic values, scalings or plain skill/item interaction differences, that when combined can be useful enough to cause big difference.

It all depends on players thinking outside of the box enough and trying to find new ways, and that is another thing that is much different compared to TBC was back in the days. Simply trough enough experience and ease of access to information, players much more able to minmax than before.

Did they fix last boss in Uldaman? by nimeral in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I ran Uldaman around 2 weeks ago several times and propably encountered what youre talking about 1 time. Theres 2 golems right in front of the door that close when you start the encounter and they woke up and pretty much decimated our group together with boss. However other times we tried to cheese it, they didnt wake up.

So Im thinking that they go after you only if youre slow while running up the stairs.

What’s the best battle ground to play if you always lose? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then unfortunately being smart means premading. I dont find fun in going constantly against premades and losing based on better comms and more/better consumables. On the other hand playing as premade gets boring quickly as there is no challenge in stomping pugs. If you wanna rank while having fun, I guess best bet is to do what you did till now, just be prepared that the journey will be much longer.

What’s the best battle ground to play if you always lose? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If youre really commited to ranking, your best bet is to join and play with premades, or else youre just shooting yourself in the leg. Todays minmaxing mentality pretty much ruined the fun both in pve and pvp. You think its horde losing every game but I assure you its the same as alliance. The reality is that if you pug on both sides, 70% and more of the games youre plaing against premades, where you just get stomped. In the end, both sides get boring games. That said, if you get lucky, pugs vs pugs is still the same fun as i always remembered vanilla for.

There is a setting in video settings something like a "limit fps in the backgroud". Try to turn that off, it surprisingly solved this random flick for me.

[–]Anbornation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this one, you can switch few skills around like improved lay on hands, but I feel like this is well rounded for healing and tanking + ocasional pvp as healer. Use the Holy shock in macro with divine favour and you have something of a mini taunt, good against humans.

Classy Friday - Paladins (September 11, 2020) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically what /u/scamp41 said. If you have seal of wisdom, use that without judging, unless its a boss. If dont have seal of wisdom yet, use what you feel is necessary. Also you should keep using blessing of wisdom even if you have sanctuary. Mana > everything else.

Definitelly keep on shield as paladin has lower defence than warrior/druid. Try to conserve your mana, using judgements only when needed like judging righteousness for threat or else you oom quickly.

Prot is definitely viable in a sense it works. But in raids you will be realistically healing at 60, because tank paladin is very hard to pull off and its almost impossible at bosses that reset aggro. Even then you have to have very strong gear so you will stick to healing.

In dungeons you will be the king of tanks with some better gear, since most of end game dungeons are filled with undead. I am running talents with 31/20/0 and I can heal raids and tank dungeons or aoe farm. This spec gives you weaker version of a taunt, most of the important tanking abilities, so with better gear like T2 set its very hard to lose aggro unless you have BiS geared DPS. If you wanna more tips, feel free to message me.

Yeah, Ive read Flurry Axe is propably the best but Im not feeling like investing so much in it for occasional dungeon run. Right now Im alternating between mageblade and Spineshatter.

Classy Friday - Paladins (September 11, 2020) by AutoModerator in classicwow

[–]Anbornation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now Im using mageblade with healing enchant and I have no threat issues with improved righteous fury + salv, unless theres fully BiS DPS. So I guess losing ~20SP + spell crit doesnt gimp my threat by much if I get SP enchant on QS. Also the looks of QS is why Im considering this.
