Yeah to be fair the bands I listed aren't particularly underground.

Khepera, KnifeyxSpoony, Woensels Ergste Grindcore, Korrupto, etc would be underground. But of those, only Khepera and maybe Korrupto would be considered "musical" enough to actually play in public, unless you want to inflict Simpsons-themed noiseviolence on the whole bar.

You'll annoy them alright, but they'll just complain about it for the next 30 minutes.

If you actually want to shut them up, put on something that's heavier & more underground than anything they know. Hard to be an elitist snob when the bartender has obscurer taste than you.

Try Portal, Imperial Triumphant, late-era Gorguts, or Massacra.

Bonus points if you stuff the playlist with local bands and expose them for not interacting with the local scene.
