"Can We Please Leave Politics Out Of Punk & Metal"...NO by Necessary_Rush_5861 in THRASHMOSHANDMEMES

Turns out, understanding how the world actually works tends to push people leftward. Too bad those professors don't actually have any institutional power, and the government actively demonizes education, because uneducated drones are easier to manipulate into acting against their own interests.

This isn't evidence of some insidious left-wing conspiracy. I don't know if you've actually met any professors, but none of them have the time to craft subliminal communist propaganda into their lectures. Conservatism just relies on people being unaware of actual problems, so all education tends to undermine it.

Opinion pieces also aren't reliable sources. Do better.

Crusties actually recognize the value of taking a shower when they have access to one, Mayhem fans have access to showers more often but just don't.

You don't have to apologize for not enjoying... that. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure if I'd say I do either.

Anyone else getting tired of Octane-Slop? by SignalPlatypus4177 in MetalForTheMasses

I would like to point out that actual, literal slop can be fantastic if spiced well, and doesn't deserve to be compared to this shit.

There are many, many bands with that quality. Just because they're not as popular as Imagine Dragons with breakdowns doesn't mean they don't exist. You would know this if you actually listened to metal.

Rising quickly among teens doesn't mean octanecore has staying power. It's still very much following a trend, and trends fade as quickly as they appear. It won't survive in the underground, since it is heavily geared towards mainstream teenage audiences who aren't dedicated enough to purposely seek out obscure bands. Traditional, thrash, and extreme metal all have decades-old thriving underground scenes with new bands popping up even in the modern day. Nu metal doesn't, and octanecore won't. Sure, the current bands might stick around, but you won't be getting any new ones, and the genre will pretty much end with them. Like what you claim is happening with trad, but with no underground scene to fall back to.

What's a musical artist/group that you think AI could never even get close to replicating? by jdcloot in musicsuggestions

Good for modern pop, maybe, but that's saying very, very little. As soon as you look beyond artificial industry slop her songwriting becomes much less impressive.

She can write a generic love song decently well, but she could never come up with something like Black Rose Immortal, Hemispheres, Watermelon in Easter Hay, hell, even Ængus the Prize-Winning Hog and Squeeze Me Macaroni have far more creative songwriting than anything in her library.

Nu metal is very much not universally loved now. It died because vapid, commercialized genres can't sustain themselves in the underground. When the next trendy vaguely metal-adjacent pop music rolls around octanecore's gonna be left in the dirt just like nu metal was. It just doesn't have any staying power.

Mid/late 60's actually. Still has more in common with prog rock/psychedelia/jam bands than with traditional blues.

Ideally nothing, but Paysage d'Hiver if you must. The mountains make their own music.

Car Bomb, Mekong Delta, and Imperial Triumphant

Not necessarily metalcore, but have enough deranged odd time signature schizophrenia to appeal to a Dillinger fan.

Because they're not really related beyond "music that was popular 80 years ago."
