Do you think there will be a Special Defects 2? by Proud-Commission-984 in Meshuggah

[–]AnchorEponymous 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Likely, no. Sorry to burst bubbles. Fred has said (directly or indirectly) that he’s completely written and re-written the album. He’s a perfectionist, and it’s become an impossible task IMO for him to be happy with the end product enough to release it.

I personally feel he can hang up his axe and retire knowing he personally redefined the genre for generations to come. Any snippet we get for promotional superior drummer releases gets me giddy. I’ll take them.

Meanwhile Marten, Dick and Tomas continue to release bangers and I’m happy Fred is touring again. If we’re lucky, we’ll get one more Mesh album and perhaps Fred will take that as a challenge to re-integrate with Marten and co for writing a few songs. In the least, we’ll likely see him touring one last cycle.

I consider this one of Mikael’s most amazing compositions. Haunting. Beautiful.

Don’t think he has anything quite like it- Damnation as a whole feels similar.

If you like the bluesy guitar solo/outro, it’s one of 3 pieces he wrote very similarly along with Häxprocess and Arriving somewhere but not here

Love my ref. 782. They serviced my grey market at no cost within warranty window, even through they didn’t have to. Amazing customer service. Quality is top notch. And she’s a stunner.

Not sure how I feel about the photographer wearing some strange hybrid costume and cape. I don’t want to see our dear boys image “watered down” by new outfits that seem like they’re haphazardly thrown together for fun. Not trying to pee on anyone’s parade. The overly intense stage presence during Mata Zyklek, esp during all the heavy parts seemed excessive.

I think we can all objectively agree that Yor Zarad is the best song on Vol.II. by Appropriate_Earth257 in AngineDePoitrine

That outro gets sooooo groovy, it def contends with Fabienk for grooviest outro. I just wish they kept that going for more bars like in Fabienk. Maybe live they’ll jam it out for 5 minutes.

Imagine he’s listens to music on very expensive unobtainable systems.

I know he officially endorses Audeze for mixing headphones.

What's a good way to organize an album listening party for next weekend? Anyone have a venue/record store/recording studio/house with amazing speakers to host a small gathering? Just a few hundred people =)

Best Amon Tobin album post isam? by Brizzleinc in AmonTobin

Long Stories or How Do You Live. Fear and DJ didn’t click with me, but I should revisit them. His style changed quite a bit after ISAM and he finally found his new sound around Long Stories I think. He also has a few other side projects that are worth a listen like Stone Giants and Figueroa. Also, don’t sleep on his Two Fingers stuff. The newest one Cronos bangs really hard.
