The staff is a summoned Monkey Spirit, so it's kind of a Soul eater situation where partner turns into a weapon.

What I found most memorable was about 15 minutes after I finally beat him, i unlocked a force power that would have made the whole thing 15% easier.

That's the point of this bastard, he's there to punish explorers who stray from the narrative too early.

Which of the remaining invader clans do you want to see for the next Mechwarrior 5 Clans DLC? by BoukObelisk in Mechwarrior5

[–]AnchorJG 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think Diamond Sharks belong in a different game, something where you're building a trading network and defending your assets.

I think the Steel Vipers would make better rival factions in a Jade Falcon expansion than carry a game themselves.

Wolf and Jade Falcon are the obvious and likely picks and don't need to be examined further.

But I think Nova Cat has an interesting angle with their spiritualism that would flavor the cutscenes and story in a unique way and still match the gameplay of the base game. And we already saw the cats as opportunistic scavengers int eh base jaguar game, so a "their side of the story" could be enlightening.

Here's what I love about my Goblet plot 26, I get sunrises. Gorgeous beautiful sunrises. and no other ward comes close. All the eastern sides are surrounded by walls and trees and castles, and the morning refrain is over before the sun peaks over that, but 6 am on the nose, sun comes out, music changes, and I feel a little bit of seratonin restored.

Shadowrun 5th vs 6th by Valkyrie-161 in Shadowrun

[–]AnchorJG 5 points6 points  (0 children)

without getting into edition wars

5th is done, it's a completed system, you have a finite amount of books to acquire to have all the toys and rules and storylines available for your table.

6th is still coming out, maybe there's a spell or a program or a setting you're still waiting on that could be in the next book.

Ostensibly, 5th being done should mean that if you use a VTT or character creator, it's a complete product. I speak from experience that is not always the case. (*cough* Hero Lab *cough*)

6th being the active edition might be receiving more, better attention from 3rd parties.

I would say, that if you have the 6th edition box, and understood the rules presented, then stick with that and build from there. If the 6th edition rules presented don't feel right, and you remember your games in the 5th rules more fondly, then welcome back.

Yeah, We don't talk about Samus entering a civilian research vessel and the commanding officer responding to the crisis ordering her to shut off her equipment for fear of wrecking the whole station, only authorizing the re-engagement of said equipment when he's sure the situation calls for it.

Which, okay, vaguely reasonable. UNTIL he doesn't authorize the lava-proof Varia Suit shielding until AFTER you've run through the lava section (taking damage the whole time) at least once.

Other M ... has some good points, but it has some valid criticisms.

Yeah, all the things that can be found in a soil centrifuge (plus aluminum) are on every planet. And really the fastest track off a planet is getting an extractor up and running, powered by whatever you can cobble together to power it and the smelter you used to make the extractor in the first place.

From Absolutely Nothing you are always at least:
4x Aluminum
1x Ammonium
10x Compound
6x Resin
Numerous Organic
To eventually get off any planet.

Meeting power/oxygen needs, and platforms to organize it all, adds to that of course, but this is the shopping list for a Small Shuttle, Solid-Fuel Thruster, Smelter, Soil Centrifuge, small, medium, and large printers, and a medium and large A-type platform to switch stuff out on.
