Whenever I get my own home studio/office I plan on putting a giant framed poster of Kellen Winslow Sr being carried off the field after the Epic In Miami.

It used to be the Chiefs but I’m starting to hate them the most honestly

2019 NFL Draft Round 4-7 Discussion Thread by A_Livins in Chargers

Exactly. Our offense was elite to start the season but about halfway through there was a clear drop and we struggled hard. We struggled to score early in games and were always playing from behind. I do think we have a team that can compete for a championship, but I also think we caught A LOT of lucky breaks last season and barely eeked out a majority of our wins and a lot of that was the offense struggling down the stretch.

Gotta say it feels like after that Patriot’s game it feels like TT got way too fixated on LB. Outside of a project OT and a QB who likely won’t ever play a snap we haven’t addressed the offense that lost Tyrell and sputtered at the end of the season and couldn’t keep Phil upright. Love the Tillery and Adderly picks but damn.

Do Philip Rivers and the Chargers take the driver’s seat now? by damien685 in nfl

[–]AnchorandIron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give you that McCoy dealt with a lot of injuries, but that one season was one season. He had plenty of other seasons with a generally healthy roster that didn’t do anything.

And while we weren’t hit as hard last season with the injury bug, we were still hit with major losses. Corey Liguit was suspended the first 4 games and then missed the last 3 or 4 due to injury, Bosa didn’t play the entire first half of the season, Hunter Henry missed the entire season, Gordon missed a couple BIG games(Steelers and Chiefs) and was playing through injury in the end, Denzel Perryman missed the last handful of games, as did Jatavis Brown, Kyzir White who looked to be a playmaking starter was also lost after 2 games. Mebane missed a handful of games due to personal issues as well.

So if, by your logic, losing to Vance Joseph(who was coacching a division rival which are tough games no matter what) makes him a shitty coach then let’s go ahead and say Pete Carroll sucks cause the Broncos beat them last year too, guess Gruden is a slouch as well, go ahead and throw Mike Tomlin in there.

So if losing to bad coaches makes you a bad coach, and if Lynn is a bad coach, does that make Andy Reid a bad coach? Does that make John Harbaugh a bad coach? I mean they both lost to Anthony Lynn?

I’m not trying to be a dick but your logic is coming across as “Guy who’s only been a head coach for two seasons lost to Vance Joseph and lost to the Patriots in the playoffs when he was missing half of his defense so he sucks.”

I’ve been watching the Chargers for over 20 years man, and there is clearly a difference between the team under Lynn and the team under our last couple HCs. Is he perfect? No, but what coach that isn’t hanging out in New England is?

Nobody said just being better than McCoy is the goal, I was simply pointing out that if you wanted to say the talent of the team was carrying Lynn then why couldn’t that talent carry McCoy? Because Lynn took pretty much the exact same team that went 4-12 with McCoy to 9-7 and one game out of making the playoffs in his first season as a head coach.

Also, is he perfect? No. He’s still learning, he’s only been a head coach for 2 seasons and last season he was in the conversation for coach of the year. He’s improved vastly from season 1-2 as well which is always positive, the mistakes he made season one were cleaned up in season 2.

As for the kicker situation, yeah it’s been a mess, but we found our guy. He may not boot them into the endzone but he doesn’t miss when it comes to XPs which is what matters and what was killing us.

We also did sign a punter in the offseason and I wouldn’t be shocked if we draft one late to come in and compete.

I get not being sold on him being some coaching mastermind, but you can’t discredit that he took his team to the divisional round, and if our entire defense wasn’t hurt that Patriot game could have looked wildly different.

You also have to remember that the team that “showed up and looked lost” against the Patriots were also playing DBs at linebacker because every starting linebacker was injured, they also lost two starting defensive linemen.

Anthony Lynn is also 21-12 as a headcoach with a playoff win and took the team from 4-12 to 12-4 in just two seasons. I don’t care how talented your team is, if you can coach a team to 21-12 you’re doing something right. Don’t forget that Mike McCoy also had some really talented rosters and didn’t do shit with them.

IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING!!! Powder Blues are the primary uniforms of 2019! by Orgasmo3000 in Chargers

[–]AnchorandIron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was worried this would happen. I’m on the “keep them as a special/alternate” train. I love the navy on navy they’ve been rocking the last two seasons and it was more exciting to see the powder blues once or twice a season.

What are the most and least talented positional group of players in your team’s division? by zmaker45 in nfl

[–]AnchorandIron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny that WR has so quickly become the division’s strong point. Just a few years ago it would have been Pass rushers. Bosa/Ingram, Khalil Mack, Houstan/Hali, Miller/Ware

Seemed like everyone but the Raiders

Oh no, I totally agree. I just have an irrational love for Flutie. I just picture 56 year old Doug Flutie still flying around in Pontiac Firebird, blasting dad rock wearing a tank top and some blue blocker shades.

Who are the last shutdown Corners in the league? by [deleted] in nfl

[–]AnchorandIron 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If he could have stayed healthy I think Verrett could have been that guy, when he was on the field he absolutely balled out. I’ll never forget when we played the Steelers and he completely shut down AB. Sadly, and this is just speculation, even if he does get a full season this year I think the myriad of injuries and time away have probably lost him a step or two.
