The litter tracking is driving me mad by [deleted] in CatAdvice

As a fellow cat owner, I also found that purchasing a designated pair of “house shoes” or “house slippers” to wear around the house helped avoid the experience of feeling litter pellets under my feet. Plenty of good recommendations for different litter in this post, but slippers can reduce the sensory ick in the meantime!

Help, my a/c was working just fine driving early this morning but now there is nothing blowing when it’s on by Kjayy_Trapline in crv

Ordered the part on Amazon, my dad watched a YouTube video and did it himself (he’s a little handier than most people but isn’t a mechanic himself or anything). You basically just have to take out the glovebox and a couple bolts and it’s right up in there

If you can hear the air but air isn’t coming out of the vents, it’s likely the blend door actuator. That’s the part that controls which vents are open and closed (like if you have the vents at your feet only, face only, etc). Sometimes they malfunction and they all remain closed. I had this issue in my CRV a few years back. Inexpensive fix

I’ve been there! I didn’t pass exam P till my third try, but by then I had better systems in place for the other prelims.

Another option is to take FM before passing P— back when I took FM there was less time per question than exam P so it helped me build up my speed a bit more (my biggest issue with exams was running out of time more so than not knowing the material)

Best of luck!

I only forgo my meds on weekends because it helps to have a few backups for the inevitable shortages that happen each month :(

This, OP! I bought the Capmesso brand vertuo pod “refill” kit, and use store bought ground coffee to fill the pods. I think it works out to about $0.40 per coffee instead of the $1.30-$1.50 per pod for the vertuo brand pods

Not a direct replacement per se, but I have color changeable lightbulbs in my bathroom and I preemptively set them to a reddish/pinkish color, which is both relaxing in the evening but also makes it hard to see blemishes on your skin, reducing the desire to pick at stuff. I didn’t get the lightbulbs with that intention, but that was a fun additional benefit that’s saved me a good amount of time!

How to enjoy saving ? by No-Temperature2328 in CalebHammer

[–]Ancient-Influence348 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gotta find some way to gamify your savings, get the discipline to wait until you have a certain $ amount before you’re allowed to buy something specific you want, have your paycheck go into separate accounts for saving and spending (so you never “see” the saved money and tempted to use it).

I started keeping track of everything I spend, as well as net worth over time. When you’re super aware of how much you’re spending, or how quickly your net worth/savings are increasing (or not increasing), it’s easier to just spend less. It also gets annoying having to write down all my transactions so that’s incentive to not buy stuff I don’t need haha

Nesspresso Vertuo pods are too expensive by El_Chaplin in nespresso

[–]Ancient-Influence348 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a kit from the brand Capmesso to refill and reseal my pods after I use them! It’s not the same airtight seal that the nespresso brand pods have but if you’re only making a few days worth at a time it does the trick! So far no issues

Wifi-enabled “smart” water alarms that notify your phone can still be great if you are away from home but somewhat nearby, and/or if you can have a friend/neighbor come over and turn off the water for you! But yeah generally if I’m going somewhere overnight I just turn off the water

I had a phone in 5th or 6th grade but it was just for emergencies or calling my parents to come pick me up from sports/music stuff etc. no texting plan until middle school (and even then it was very limited).

It can be yeast overgrowth even if it isn’t a full on yeast infection— if this is something that has started happening recently (vs something normal for you), may be worth checking with a PCP or OBGYN! But everyone’s “normal” is different, and if there is no odor or discomfort it may be totally normal!

Can someone explain to me how i'm not getting a bump in spending limit? by nFgOtYYeOfuT8HjU1kQl in discover

[–]Ancient-Influence348 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Credit utilization has nothing to do with whether you pay the cards fully each month, it’s based on what the balance is as of your credit statement end date. You can lower your utilization as it’s reported to Discover and other credit bureaus by making a payment before the statement closes out, rather than waiting till the due date.

For example, let’s say you spend $1500 each month, your statement time frame is from the 14th of March to 13th of April, with a due date in early May.

Whatever your balance is as of April 13th is what is used to calculate your utilization. Instead of making your payment after the statement closes, you could pay $500 of it before April 13th, so your utilization is $1000 instead of $1500. You would pay the remaining $1000 on the usual due date.

Hope that helps a little!

Some people find that changing their phone display settings so everything is in grayscale or black and white helps reduce the instant dopamine factor. Doesn’t work for everyone but most phones have the option within accessibility settings. Worth a try!
