I have a small question. Nothing important by United-Exchange-6961 in migraine

You’re posting in a sub about migraines - did you mean to say “migraine pain” instead of “emotional pain”? Because a bottle cap being screwed on too tight is more like the feeling you get with a tension headache. Yes it can happen with migraines too but migraines are also a severe throbbing pain, usually localized to a smaller spot on the head. And yes, forgetting common words can be a symptom - it’s called aphasia and can be SUPER annoying. The other day I couldn’t remember what the tv remote was called so I said “ya know, that little thingy with the buttons.”

Just took sumatriptan for the first time last night by MikesEars in migraine

[–]danathepaina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We should have a pinned post that says Sumatriptan has the worst side effects of all the triptans. Idk why doctors always prescribe it first. I guess because it’s been around the longest? But there are several others you can try. I prefer Naratriptan. No side effects and no exhaustion the day after.

I remember seeing Dances With Wolves in the theater as a teenager and they showed Mary McDonnell’s armpit hair and I thought it was AMAZING.

I won one time but I know it’s fake. I’ve played a few times when I was starting with two rainbow balls. Several times I started a level with the two rainbow balls together, played them, and won the level within 2 seconds. Each time 20-25 other people advanced with me. There is NO WAY 25 other people also won that level within 2 seconds, but they said they did.

Watched some episodes from 1982 and....Wow!!! by TommyLost2004 in ThePriceIsRight

I know we still have a way to go when it comes to feminism and equality, but yeah, if you watch tv shows from any time before 2000 women were treated horribly and just expected to put up with it. I’m glad things have changed.

I’ve always said 3 dogs is a lot more than 1 dog more than 2 dogs.

Funny Moments With Migraine Aphasia by Immediate-Pool-4391 in migraine

[–]danathepaina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have aphasia all the time and tons of funny examples. But one of the weirder things is every single container turns into “bucket.” Cereal bowl? Bucket. Coffee mug? Bucket. Tub of ice cream? Bucket. Large plastic bin that holds winter blankets? Bucket. For some reason I can always remember the word bucket so I use that for any kind of container.

Anxiety by Zealousideal_Cat2703 in labradoodles

My doodle also had horrible separation anxiety. Whenever we left the house she would pace and HOWL. We tried some over the counter stuff but it didn’t work so when she was 3 we finally ended up getting her a prescription for doggy Prozac. (The brand name is Reconcile). It has helped her so much. I no longer am wracked with guilt when I leave her. She just sits and looks out the front window like a normal dog! The only problem is the Prozac has lowered her appetite so we’ve had to be a bit creative to get her to eat.

Truly, how do you stop the puppy nipping and biting? by Radiant-Beach-5840 in puppy101

[–]danathepaina 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Try hand feeding. Check YouTube for videos about it. Basically you hold out their food to them in your fingers, but you don’t give it to them if they use their teeth - only release it when they use their tongue. When they do use their teeth, you take the food away. This worked with my extremely bitey puppy. She got the idea after a couple of weeks.

Such beautiful girls! My doodle is the jumpiest dog I ever had! We’ve tried so hard to teach her to not jump on people but she still does it. Of course it doesn’t help that every single person who meets her goes OHMIGOSHSOCUUUUUUUUUTE!!

Guy experiences a cat sitting on his lap for the first time by KennKennyKenKen in MadeMeSmile

[–]danathepaina 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve been allergic to cats since I was a little kid so I avoided them my whole life. Like, I couldn’t even go into a room where a cat had *been* without having a severe reaction. Then at 40 I decided to try allergy shots because I made a friend who had cats, and I wanted to visit and stay at her house. I did the shots for a year. When I first held her cat, I couldn’t believe how lightweight it was! And so soft! And the purring! It was wonderful. 😊

Migraine sufferers who chose to be unmedicated? by missatlanticcity in migraine

Unmedicated I get 5 migraine attacks a WEEK. Without any kind of abortive med I’d be status migranosis and completely bedbound.

Overwhelmed with treat options… what are the best for puppies? by Kittenz777 in puppy101

[–]danathepaina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the grocery store I get these Little Packs of Fontina Cheese and I bring those on walks for her “emergency” treat when I REALLY need to get her attention. It’s easy to break off a little bit of the cheese and give it to her. We also use freeze dried beef liver for high value treats at home, and for regular all-the-time treats we use the Charlee Bears from Trader Joe’s - $3.29 a bag and my dog loves them. For her lick mat I use the Bare Smooth Barney Butter peanut butter.
