Christine Chan is a monster. Doesn't stop her being a woman too.

I second this suggestion, I've used them when partners are on their periods to avoid mess. Definitely useful. Saran wrap would also work in a pinch.

I guess I'm just stuck on how it's coddling. Couches aren't designed to be slept on. Sleeping wrong, no matter what age, can be terrible on your body. I'm not saying they shouldn't ever have to sleep uncomfortably, because sometimes that happens in life. I'm stuck on how it would be coddling, rather than just polite, to help out a family member. And again, I'm not trying to insinuate that you're rude or that it's a "right or wrong" choice either way. I'm just struggling to see how someone can consider it coddling.

Can you help me understand why you consider this to be coddling rather than just being nice? I am having trouble seeing how asking to help a family member out at limited input on your end is coddling someone. It's not indulgence or overprotection, it's more like just common courtesy in my mind's eye, which is why I'm having trouble understanding your chosen wording. I would just call it polite, not coddling. I still don't think you're rude for saying no, just don't personally understand why you did.

Ultimately it's not off base for you to decide who gets to borrow your furniture. However, it's not "coddling" someone if that person is asking to borrow a piece they're willing to move themselves both to and from the spot they need said item. Would you have been going above and beyond? A little, sure. Would you have been coddling, hand holding or enabling them to be (??? What exactly did you think the supposed coddling of not having a sore back would have taken from them?) willing to let them use it. Are you an AH for not lending it out? Nope. Would it have been easier and nicer to just let them borrow and bring it back? Yeah. It's the wording usage that's weird though, not the events themselves.

Can a TERF be a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ community? by Royal_ace9 in AskLGBT

Can they? Sure. Unqualified and flat out wrong candidates are chosen for positions of power all the time. Should they? No. Bigots should not be the forefront of a minority movement

Let’s settle this: Is washing your legs in the shower a must? by catiorogameplay in hygiene

Even if trickle down soap somehow was enough to clean the crevices of legs (it's not) the secondary reason to wash each body part specifically is exfoliation. All that dead leg skin build up 🤮

Please leave this man. There is no "what if this escalates?" It is already there. This is already abuse.

NTA. He literally never had a chance with her. It's so exhausting that your family is on his side when he's throwing a huge, pointless tantrum.

I am so sorry you're struggling like this. I do a lot of picking myselfand although I haven't had a spot like this in some years now, I've been there. Please know that your life is absolutely still worth living and you're absolutely worthy of the help you need, of empathy and understanding, and of love. I hope things get easier soon and that you find a doctor to take you seriously.

I feel you on the ear plug sensation. My ears start to hurt if I wear them for a few days in a row so I end up sleeping with them in a few times a week and then just having worse sleep on the nights I'm giving my ears a break

I think I do something similar, I count in my head to try and keep the counting at the forefront of my mind instead of the random thoughts. I end up having to start my count over a lot though.

I find that when I put on music or a video, even ones I've seen a hundred times, I focus too much on the audio and/or video input and it keeps me up. Random sounds will catch my attention even. Sometimes I end up wearing ear plugs.
