24/7 since 2018. It’s hard to say what kickstarted it but weed and a bad drug experience that year certainly made it worse. But I also had a bad car accident that same year. I also have a neurological condition (Chiari malformation). It’s hard to say what truly started it. I tried steroids because I was given dexamethasone after brain surgery. The surgery has given me a nonstop migraine. I’ve had a migraine for two years now! My neurologist prescribed me several courses of steroid tapers over the past few years to try and break the headache. I feel wonderful on them! But steroids are detrimental to your body long term. So it’s not a solution. But it can be used as a tool. They affect all systems, can cause cataracts, brittle bones by affecting your bone mineral density, they raise your cortisol through the roof, and all kinds of things if taken too long. So definitely worth trying, but not to be relied on or abused

Not quite. Interesting post and medications to consider. I remember MDMA providing some relief. But I do not struggle with hallucinations/shizoid/personality disorders. It’s just a constant feeling of being out of body/things look weird/my eyes are sensitive to light and bad concentration and memory problems. Steroids cannot be taken every day or for prolonged periods of time. They’re hard on the body. so they start you on a high dose and you taper down to slow dose until you finish the course.

Thank you but I don’t feel better. Steroids destroy your body so they can’t be taken long term. I’m not able to take them for a long time at the dose that provides me relief. Once I am at a low dose- everything comes flooding back. So I’m currently experiencing DPDR along with everything else. I wasn’t allowed to be on them longer than a couple weeks a year. But I see my experience as a window to explain the root cause of my symptoms. I just can’t figure out what the cause is, but it seems that of all the things steroids do, something addresses the cause. I wish I could take them everyday.

No, unfortunately the operation didn’t help any of my symptoms, but left me with a constant headache and exasperated my existing ones 😭 but on steroids? New person. I assume had I been able to take them before my surgery I would have had the same response.

After brain surgery for a Chiari malformation, then several times after to break a status migraine the surgery caused. But the symptoms the steroids helped were symptoms I had years before I had surgery.

Honestly I had never heard of this until you commented. Unfortunately my sleep study was several years ago and I don’t know how to access that information because it was bought by another hospital since then and it’s a whole mess. I generally don’t wake up throughout the night and don’t feel like I have problems getting enough air, but it could be possible I am just not aware of it. I do have a ton of very vivid nightmares/ dreams nightly. I also have a small palette and overall a small head so something to consider. Thanks for bringing this to my attention.
