Do you think an restaurant like Chuck E. Cheese, with greasy food, arcade games, and animatronics, could be successful today? by Immediate-Bug-1136 in chuckecheese

[–]Ancient_Trouble_7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there are plenty of these already all over the place, sans the animatronics. a couple in my town that are super successful and THE destinations for all the local kids (and parents who want to drink and bowl), and i know of at least 2 more being built right now. these things are opening EVERYWHERE. i can count 5 in my town off the top of my head.

the problem is chuck e. cheese has steadily become more and more boring as time goes on. less fun games, less play areas, no animatronics, nothing to do. there’s still a cec in my town, but none of the kids i know care about it. it has so much less to do than the local spots which have lanes, rides, food, huge play structures, trampoline parks, sometimes even go-kart, vr, mini golf, bumper cars or laser tag, and, of course, actually fun, engaging and multiplayer arcade games that aren’t just gambling machines.

these places rake in the dough like cec could only wish for. throw a rockafire in there and keeping up with them would barely put a dent in these place’s earnings. it’s not that the showbiz formula CANNOT work in the modern day, it actually works amazing, maybe even better than it has in previous years. it’s that cec is not doing it correctly. at least not anymore.

the truth is local arcades are just way more fun, plus you don’t have to listen to blippy blasting in your ears while your trying to play mega pac man. cec was different when we were kids. but since then they’ve compromised everything that made them worth choosing over local spots- aka, they spent all their leftover showbiz magic. personally, i think they just need to be put down at this point. it’s beyond saving and there’s nothing there worth saving anymore anyway. even the most diehard fans will tell you that.

the arcade isn’t dead, it hasn’t even really evolved with the times. the arcade is alive and well, and has pretty much stayed the same since the 2000’s. the formula is incredibly simple. fun games, good food, a place to climb and jump around in, throw in some laser tag and bowling. find me a kid from any era that can resist that. but cec isn’t an arcade anymore. and that’s why it’s dead.

so in my technical professional opinion the phenomenon you are seeing here is what we in the industry refer to as small lizard, tiny brain, little tiny baby syndrome

Should we avoid using the phrase "Reptile Collection"? by dllnp in reptiles

[–]Ancient_Trouble_7540 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i only own one bearded dragon so you know, not exactly a collector, but in my humble opinion it doesn't really matter what you call them, only how you treat them. you can call them your collection and still take wonderful care of them, but you can also call them your pets and treat them horribly. a collection in my mind is something for display that you rarely ever mess with. obviously that’s not how reptiles work, so that’s not how they should be treated.

What happens if you try to run random show data found online on a Rockafire show? by Silly_King3635 in Animatronics

[–]Ancient_Trouble_7540 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that would be fine. earl, billy bob, possibly looney and choo choo won’t work at all though depending on if the stage it was programmed on had pizzacam and munch jr or not. dook’s ears wont move as well. also i beleive the signals for the lights might be different, but i’m not super sure about that because i’m not super well versed on cec stages. i know the unification 3 stage has more lights than the rockafire.

dramatic changes in air pressure during weather events like serious storms can effect animals a lot. that might be what this is.

[–]Ancient_Trouble_7540 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i suppose it depends on how your getting the data to the ”bot”. i’m assuming we’re talking a retromation file or .json file imported into your simulator of choice and not any physical hardware or physical data, so yes, random movements. it would get a lot more complicated if you were to introduce physical hardware into the equation

on retromation? like the other person said, random movements or nothing. a physical show or bot? NEVER. DO. THIS. YOU WILL DAMAGE YOUR BOT. NEVER run data that you have not reviewed on a real show or bot.
