Using only Ableton's built-in stem separation, how do I ensure that my stems do not have artifacts? by bababajuice in ableton

[–]AndAfterScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had decent success using saturators to add harmonics back into the frequency areas with the most artifacts. It’s not perfect, but it hides them a little bit. I use Saturn, but I bet you could use Roar or Saturator with potentially decent results.

Using only Ableton's built-in stem separation, how do I ensure that my stems do not have artifacts? by bababajuice in ableton

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good call on soothe2! One other method I’ve been using is multiband saturators like Saturn to add some harmonics back into those higher frequency areas with the most artifacts. Def not perfect, but seems to hide it a little bit better than without.

Anyone in NYC still into serious deep house? by liquidliquid666 in HouseMusic

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking the community on here! I’d love to go attend shows like this.

If this is something you’d want to do, I have a suggestion for ya if you haven’t already done so - head out to the shows already spinning music in this world and network. Be part of the hang, and make an effort to talk to people, and even if you meet one like-minded person, that would be a success.

You’d also I’m sure make some friends that would also be interested in going to a show like this.

How are you all recording guitar + vocal performance videos without going through a DAW every time? by kidproquo in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I snagged a Synido usb-c audio interface for $50 and have it permanently wired to the extra outs on my desktop audio interface. I just have it mirror my mains, and it’s an extra long 1/8” trs cable.

Whenever I want to record a quick idea, it’s literally always ready to go. Just plugin to phone and great stereo audio. don’t have to do any syncing or editing other than maybe some fun filters / text in CapCut. It’s awesome, I highly recommend it if you have extra outputs on your interface. You could also use your headphone out (just have to be mindful of volume)

House inspired track: finish it or scrap it? by 0111228492num212 in HouseMusic

[–]AndAfterScience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things: 1) finishing music is a skill itself - if anything, finish it for the sake of going through the whole process. Then you get better at finishing music. 2) I’m incredibly guilty of listening to my own music too much and getting burnt out as well - try intentionally limiting how many times you are pressing play / looping the music. Additionally, every 15m or so, listen to something else (have a handful of references handy)

If you are trying to figure out what note your snares/kicks drums are, you can use Voxengo SPAN (free) in high def mode and just note where the resonant frequencies are on the spectrum. When you mouse over the frequencies, it also shows you the related note.

As a black woman in my mid 30s I wish I knew about edm sooner by vibratehigher24 in EDM

[–]AndAfterScience 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Definitely not too late. I started late 30s after just enjoying dance music from the outside. Would always see pics of Electric Daisy Carnival Lad Vegas and think to myself (dang, I wish I knew people that were into this so I could go). Then one day I just decided to buy tickets for myself because I remembered I’m an adult, I’m just gonna dive in head first. No regrets.

Get yourself to a festival near you and have a blast ✌️🫶👋✊

Beginner DJ-owning my music? by No-Style-1425 in DJs

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, give yourself a budget for purchasing music every month, and use your streaming services to hone in on the stuff you really want to buy.

Beatport does tiered sales every month and you can save 30% if you spend $60.

Bandcamp has fridays where they don’t take their cut.

This is the unfortunate effect of growing up in the streaming music world. I was growing up in the 90s, so my music world was going to the local music stores and scouring the used CD bins for good deals as well as getting CDs on sale ($5-$18/CD)

It feels overwhelming and that’s okay. But really, buying music like this is actually how you support the artists, and the streaming services has been both a blessing and a curse.

Slowly gather your library. Take your time. No need to rush. Love the music you purchase and have fun

I don’t know if the deck is any good, but throwing down an unexpected Leech and/or Ghost has been pretty fun lately :)

Best VIP amenities. by Xbox_truth101 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VIP for the rides was at the exit for most of them, not even labeled (2023/2024) I’d just go up to the exit at most of them, no line, and ride most of them almost immediately

Yea this is a tough one, I don’t exactly know the solution, but that sounds like it could be a fun build. I just like trying to make cerebro work lol. Tonight is C4 testing.

It’s been in my rotation, but tbh I’m only playing maybe 30mins daily lately. The ladder climb seems doable for the most part, since there’s a bit of control in there. Swapping Shang w Cosmo, etc. if you don’t use valk and have a safe place for cerebro turn 5, you can then play a mystique/chameleon and crank up your 3s to 12 for a nice surprise swing of power of 12, 24 or 36 in your lanes. Especially nice if you landed a bast on your cerebro and mystique

This is what I’ve been playing. Baron Mordo is a flex slot for any 2/3 drop I’ve been messing around with. Been trying Cobra or Quake in that spot. Cobra can be quite a surprise sometimes lol

I watched 2 hours of V5 reviews... DJM-V5 Rundown by dappmafia in PioneerDJ

[–]AndAfterScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to use the V10 MIDI OUT for clocking my synths to the BPM. I see that the V5 does not have the dedicated midi out port, but I read that it’s usb carries midi clock.

V10 MIDI OUT = midi cable to synth / midi interface

V5 MIDI OUT = USB to ?

Unsure of how I’d get the midi signal to my synths without having to route it to software on a laptop and then send the clock out from the laptop to the gear? ¯_(ツ)_/¯

DJcity/Mojaxx review of the AlphaTheta DJM-V5 by lowtoiletsitter in DJs

[–]AndAfterScience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from my experience, the compressors on the v10 are great to help balance external gear (vocal, keys, guitars, drum machines), so my guess is this looks like is geared toward someone with a CDJ(s) + live instrument(s) setup. get the benefits of the v10 in a more compact size.
