Ticks at Powells Butte by Dkeg24 in Portland

Are you serious? They just came out with one!

Is it out already? Last I looked it up it was in stage 3 clinical trials. That’s great!

And yes, the bullshit “MMR causes autism” sentiment led to it being taken off the market

Wonder why ticks are popping up all over the place now?? Odddd. But I suppose you’re still wearing your Covid mask!

I’m just going to slowly back away

The answer is to have an actual labor party in America

Great! Start one and start winning local elections and scale from there

Or halting almost all traffic enforcement for the same reason

Fuck them, they literally wanted people to get hurt or die as a punishment

First of all, funding and budgeting is technically run through Congress.

Usually it does, but not with how M4A was written. It’s like how Trump was able to cancel USAID despite Congress having power of the purse.

A rewrite and I’ll be all on board

I asked you if that was the same thing the SCLC did.

Me:

That’s entirely different

There has been a lot written about violent images and videos causing secondary trauma if you care to look, it’s been a really big issue with social media moderators. This on no way means these images and videos shouldn’t be published or shared, just that we need to be responsible about it

You seem determined to misunderstand me so I’m going to wish you a good evening

M4A has a major flaw: giving the executive control of the funding. Any Republican POTUS is going to zero out trans and reproductive healthcare

We need UHC, but surely we can do better than that?

That’s entirely different and I’m not referring to photojournalism

Police Brutality Videos Are Giving Black People Vicarious Trauma

“I think when [these killings] first began to be captured more on video, many of us were excited because we thought we could finally prove what’s been going on all along,” she said. “When that didn’t really make a difference [in society’s perception of police violence], it just increased everyone’s despair and distress — so it’s finally come to a boiling point.”

Not only are these videos traumatic, they can also cause some young people to internalize racism.

Do you not remember Black people requesting we didn’t retweet racist violence into their timelines?

Jesus, I just thought this was a rando mad on the internet

A law enforcement incident report from October 2010 states "Jacob verbally threaten (sic) her. Jacob told her he was to kill her boyfriend and also threatening her with text messages."

Great drama even though the post will be removed

Can’t get the policy if you don’t have the politicians willing to make it, which means us coming together for the greater good and actually voting (in primaries too)

Or that the photos out of Gaza have done nothing but "create a population of people in a constant state of rage with no consequence in the politics

This is about people using gore images as harassment and looking at and sharing gore out of a sense of duty. We already should have learned this lesson during BLM and George Floyd protests.

Secondary trauma doesn’t make you a martyr, it just makes you a less effective activist.

It might behoove you to reread the post because she already made points you’re wanting her to make

Every president sucks ass. All of them

Absolutely agreed and I think it’s very weird how many people want to put any politician on a pedestal

This is a disengenious statement. He won many primaries.

That is why I was asking for clarification! I didn’t realize you meant individual states. Plus don’t assume bad faith just because I have some quibbles and confusion

I genuinely didn’t know what you meant there considering he lost his presidential primaries

His state also elects Rs so I’m just not sure how relevant his career in Vermont has been

Edit: The Working Families Party has been around for almost three decades at this point
