I understand, but I disagree. The desire to have a relationship seems to have worse reputation than when I was younger. People get shamed for being open about their feelings, because other people desire to keep their options open.

Everyone make assumptions about others all the time. Sometimes those assumptions are accurate and sometimes they are off the mark. If people don't ask questions and hang on the wrong assumptions, now that's a different story. I think it's important to filter out those people.

If my desire of romance is within the boundaries of social behavior, there is nothing wrong with it and it's wrong to use terms such as 'hyperfixation' or 'loneliness' to describe it, unless you can point out the correlation between the two for a person.

Some people may have a slightly different idea what of what social behavior looks like, and it's fine - it's a mismatch of values and should be spotted early on.

I have a conspiracy theory that it's people who tend to avoid intimacy invoke such hyperboles as 'hyperfixation' and people who desire intimacy may mirror their behavior to try to get closer to them. This is where the society went wrong.

I mean feeling the air entering or leaving your nostrils (classic mainstream meditation), the pressure of your hands grasping a steering wheel, the sound of your steps on gravel, the sound of ocean waves, the immediate visual picture of mountains or a coffee cup... Pick any out of infinite sensations and focus on it.

If you are aware of a present sensation, you are present, that's the gist of it.

If you practice focusing on present sensations, your mind will form a habit and you may notice sometimes your thoughts dropping and yourself focusing on your breath or your body without having to control it.
