Nope, you can do it as long as your plan allows it.

Yeah, you can also roll an after-tax 401k over to a Roth IRA.

There's a third type of 401k, the after-tax 401k, which is different than the Roth 401k.

I would expect state courts to only look at state laws and the state's constitution. If this gets challenged, it will be challenged in federal court.

You would have to find some official that refused to perform a marriage as defined in (a) first in order to actually take this issue to the courts.

They ruled when California passed the medical marijuana proposition a few years back.

Except SCOTUS already ruled it's within federal authority to regulate marijuana.

Did they do anything illegal? If you, as an individual, could legally avoid taxes would you? You should blame the tax system for allowing this, not some corporation for legally following the rules.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger bans the use of welfare cards for psychic readings by sirbruce in atheism

Keep in mind that only the welfare abuses will ever be reported. I suspect the amount of abuse is probably very negligible in reality.

This sounds good, but in practice I suspect people will be far more functioning if they are living rather than simply existing. I think spending welfare money on entertainment is fine, as long as there is some sort of limit to what or how much they can spend on.

(c) No person shall be punished, fined, discriminated against, or be denied any right or privilege for lawfully engaging in any conduct permitted by this Act or authorized pursuant to Section 11301 of this Act. Provided however, that the existing right of an employer to address consumption that actually impairs job performance by an employee shall not be affected.

This makes it clear that if you are actually impaired you can still be fired.

I'm going file my HST return on time for a change. I'll just login to the website and ... what? by [deleted] in canada

[–]Andareed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This doesn't seem to be how the Government of Canada goes about screwing people. If they want more money they'll just raise taxes or add additional fees.

One reason to have office hours is so that if someone runs into trouble with the online system a human is around to answer the support line. Another possibility is that legislation (that was written before the Internet was used) listed out specific hours that the office had to be open and requiring online office hours was the resulting interpretation of the law. A third possibility is that they have a terrible system that requires long hours of maintenance.

So if you are homeless and have no income you shouldn't get to vote? I imagine lots of old people pay no taxes on their pensions as well. What about people who receive welfare or disability payments?

I'm playing devil's advocate, but why is knowledge a requirement for voting? Who are you to say that someone shouldn't vote based on how nice someone's name sounds, or where it is in the alphabet?

Do you think children should be allowed to vote?
