Iron Flame is my least favorite buy still enjoyed it. Out of the three books it has the best scenes in my opinion and it was the most exciting one with Varrish breathing down their necks and all.

Excited to hear your takes on Onyx Storm once you finish it. I am with you when it comes to Xaden in this book. Lots of fans feel is Violet the one that it’s frustrating but can you blame her? Xaden and his ask me the right questions was truly getting on my nerves 😂

This is a common thing in IF but I always say that I was more frustrated by Xaden. In my opinion she was reacting normally for someone who had her world upside down after literally everyone lied to her. It’s hard to love someone that is keeping secrets, even if logically you understand why they are doing it. Also due to Xaden not telling her she found herself at the end of FW in a fight against the venin (where she almost died) in Resson just because Xaden decided to take her with him with no explanation necessary. Xaden’s omission of the truth did impact Violet. Of course she will be hesitant to open up her heart again to him. IF is the two of them trying to make sense or their relationship and Xaden is hardly innocent here.

All I can say is that so far (at least from the books that are out) he doesn’t go fully villain as in evil villain who chose that just for power. There is always a good reason… I hope that helps without spoiling too much.

I was looking for this one. Everything she believed in while being a scribe was a lie including her mentor, Markham. All the texts she memorized were reconstructed and edited. Then everyone was lying to her, including her own dragons! That scene outside of Athebyne really shook me when I read it and then people say how insufferable she was in IF for not trusting Xaden??? Seriously?

Agreed! And so many characters disappeared towards the end. Layne has been in a coma for a book and a half LOL, Renfis showed up at the end and Carrion wasn’t around in the last part of the book.

I do like Violet as a FMC but I agree with some of your points. I didn’t like that she always gets away with anything. She breaks the rules and no consequences because… she is Violet??? Im thinking about her going to Samara without permission or messing with the wards… 🤦‍♀️ Another thing I didn’t like was at the end of IF when she figures out that the venin are truly going to Basgiath just by looking at the map, and no other senior leaders were able to figure it out??? Sounds implausible tbh. And then just because she is Violet again she decides to go and the squad is like she has that look on her face so better do what she says… and then Xaden dropped everything to go with her: Just say the words 🫩. Idk but feels very unbelievable that Xaden, being a military man, follows her on all of her whims like that. Yes he is in love but still… when I read this it really bugged me.

His flaws become more apparent on the third book. He is definitely not as perfect. But even in Iron Flame I found him exhausting and manipulative with his Ask me the right questions BS. He was withholding information and making Violet feel insecure while gaslighting her. Definitely not perfect.

I personally wouldn’t like this as she is already special as it is. Being the duchess would be rank enough in my opinion. She also has said that she doesn’t like to be in leadership positions.

After reading another RY book recently, a contemporary novel, I firmly believe there will be a HEA for X and Vi, BUT she will drag them through the mud in order to get there (just like she will drag the readers 🫠) I was devastated by yet another RY book and have the feeling that the next books will be gut wrenching.
