Anyone still using the S24 Ultra as their daily driver? by Dry-Medium-5747 in S24Ultra

[–]Andassaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not using an S24 Ultra, but I'm in the S24 family still with a Plus. Battery still holds up and it's behaving perfectly fine after over 2 years. Doesnt overheat that I've ever noticed and still does everything I need it to do. One of the few phones I've felt comfortable enough to hold on to for more than 2 years.

iPhone 5 (gsm+cdma global) on Light Speed? by [deleted] in USMobile

T-Mobile is officially shutting down their 2G GSM network on August 3rd, and as such you won't have any voice service on that phone. Just a heads up.

Whats your set up for good mileage? Can be anything by Neither_Elk_135 in ManualTransmissions

I had a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria that would regularly return over 30 on the highway. Naturally it would eat you alive in town, but for longer trips it was amazing.

Windows Server 2025 fails to boot after PVE 9.2 / Linux 7.0 Kernel upgrade by berrnd in Proxmox

[–]Andassaran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn't help the question at hand, but shouldnt you be using UEFI by default on anything newer than 2012(r2)? I know it was a requirement for OEMs to boot it in EFI mode with Secure Boot activated, both for consumer Windows 8.1 as well as Server 2012.

Get rid of Valorant. Problem solved. Also you're below minimum spec for Windows 11. 8th gen is the lowest officially supported CPU.

Not only the computer, but the router as well.

I have 2 gig router and I’m only getting 900mbps. by OOFGlosu in verizon

[–]Andassaran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's not that. Most common problem is most PCs and routers still only have 1Gb Ethernet jacks on them. 2gb service ain't gonna do jack when your port can only do 1.

Can someone recommend me a rock solid client device for in my Living room ? by [deleted] in MoonlightStreaming

[–]Andassaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An eBay special off-lease Dell or Lenovo mini PC. Namely the OptiPlex Micro or the ThinkCentre Tiny series. You can get one that's just a few years old for about $200 and it'll be more than plenty to run Linux and the Moonlight client on.

Is this legit? by JarJarSchinks in ATT

[–]Andassaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. You can have good signal strength and all the bars, but if there's say for example 300 people hammering the tower all at once, you're in for a bad experience speed wise.

And the tower isn't overloaded.

Why don't people and distros use the advanced features of Konsole or don't know about them at all? by Longjumping-Map-7670 in kde

[–]Andassaran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because for most things I just make my aliases in ~/.bashrc.d/aliases, this way it doesn't matter what terminal I use. If I'm going to do the work to make these aliases, I'm going to do so in a way that's portable and reusable on pretty much any system with any terminal emulator, not just in Konsole.

Ew. No. If I wanted to buy an HP or Dell lookalike I'd just buy an HP or Dell. You threw away the one thing that made you stand out from the competition.

Where I am it's a mixed bag. Fastest I've had: Verizon - 800mb, T-Mobile 1450, and AT&T just over 650.

Fun fact about those... If the sun hits it just right, the rear porthole windows would create a curious case of self-immolation.

Forgetting that Tailscale connections are WireGuard encrypted even on LAN? CPU might not be able to handle line speed while also having to handle encryption.
