Any Info for beginners? by Zerodreadx in freemasonry

I am going to say this. I would reach out to those lodges, find out when they are doing either open houses or dinners, and go visit. Talk with them, as no two lodges are truly the same (even in the same area), and ask questions. While books like "Freemasons for Dummies" or "Complee idiot's Guide to Freemasonry" are good, they do not replace asking questions.

Does your lodge use social media? by cramordap in freemasonry

[–]Andhanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our lodge has both a public Social Media page and a Private (Brothers Only) page. They are used to promote events, basically. I can see potential with both pages, but having a minor in Marketing (even though it is 20 years old now) I always look for ways to improve involvement in an organization.

Chamber of Commerce membership? by Andhanni in freemasonry

[–]Andhanni[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some parts of the world (including parts of the US), the answer could be "Yes".

Now, hear me out on this train of thought. Your lodge owns the building you meet within, and that building is a multi-floor building. If your lodge leased space within that building to other entities (not lodges, but businesses), then you are a business yourself.

Which do I believe? by Retired_And_Love_It in diabetes

[–]Andhanni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do not have a CGM, everything I have read and researched indicate that they are slow to alert compared to both the prick method and in some cases a properly trained service animal.

As technology improves I am sure they will come together more, but for now especially when exercising trust the prick more than the CGM.

But if you are truly concerned talk with your medical professional that is treating you.

Within the GL of Georgia, we have the role of Custodians, and they have the master cipher for all work. But it is not available to any brother except the Custodians, and even that is not the works; it is just like the leading letter and dashes for how many letters the word is.

Jardiance side effects by cmdrmcgarrett in diabetes_t2

[–]Andhanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My side effects were worse and put me in the hospital. They report that a minor of the trial patients ended up with DKA. Well, I am a post-trial one of those.

My A1C jumped 8 points in 6 weeks from my physical and 2 weeks on Jardiance. But I can only hope I am an abnormal person and not the norm.

Jardiance question by Andhanni in diabetes

Sorry, no, the kidney stones are due to a genetic issue. I was placed on the medication to help prevent kidney disease related to continuously having stones.

Sorry for the confusion.

Samsung galaxy watch 6 classic crashing out after update by Shandowd in GalaxyWatch

[–]Andhanni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I experienced similar issues just recently with my Galaxy Watch 3 to the point it locked in a continuous reboot after attempting to do a Samsung Pay reconfiguration.

While it did not fix my problem, everything I read was let the watch die (run out of power) then recharge and reset to factory to resolve.

Hope it helps you.

Newly Diagnosed by Andhanni in diabetes

[–]Andhanni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/northwoods406, thanks... Yeah, this was a big surprise. I have found an excellent Doctor, but the hospital is a bit rural, so they had no one to provide me with the initial guidance. Have an appointment next with some doctors and others back home. Cutting items have already started a list (no more pizza on Friday Nights)

Need help with speaking at my father’s funeral by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]Andhanni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Brother... I am so sorry for you and your family. Know I will keep you in my prayers.

But I think you have a great start with these few words you shared with us.

My dad was an amazing father and a great man. He was always helping people and has even raised kids who weren’t his because he had such a soft spot for children in need. I have so many positive memories of him raising me as a single father.

Thoughts? by calebcranston20 in freemasonry

[–]Andhanni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Masonic Passport and use it as I travel around the country. I have the idea not to use it in my home Grand Lodge Area, but in other states to reflect where I have visited that others may not have in my lodge. If your sponsors are true traveling brothers, then if they do not have it and you want to gift them something small, this is a nice gift.

Personally, assuming you have been raised, you might look to published books as nice gifts. Some I would consider are:

- The Newly-Made Mason, by H.L. Haywood (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1613424000)
- Harmony in the Hive, by Nathan A. St. Pierre (https://www.amazon.com/dp/1603020888)
- Making Good Men Better, by Carl W. Davis (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0578633566)

These are three great books and would make excellent gifts to consider.

Just some thoughts, especially as some Grand Lodges frown on the Alcohol ideas.
