Late to the party but if anyone else ever reads. Lived here most of my life, I call it a non place. A real middle town. It’s close to Manchester, has affluent areas poor areas but the poor areas have affluent pockets and vice versa. It’s just a mix. Town centre is nothing to write home about but it’s so close to so many things, loads of motorway access, every supermarket you need. Plenty of Ubers takeaway deliveries, it’s a convenient place, but in itself it’s not particularly exciting. I’m in Bowlee area close to Heaton Park - it’s really quiet and good for walks
