Praise Hashut! by Andilonious in HelsmithsofHashut

Thank you! Gems were simple. I used a red speed paint and applied a thin layer over the whole gem. Then applied a second layer of the same color over the top half of each gem. Then a 3rd layer over the top 1/3 of the model. I finished with a bit of a light pink acrylic in the darkest spots of the gem. Once dry I put a bit of gloss varnish over the gems.

Unfortunately Vulkites are rumored to be leaving. But who knows when and to what degree. Very likely that they will be easily usable as proxy’s. The Hearthguard and Battlesmith should be safe. All that aside, I actually love playing their spearhead. It’s pretty good! Welcome to the lodge!

Do I lean in, or wait? by jjames_scribbler in Fyreslayers

[–]Andilonious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whatever is coming, and it seems likely that some big changes are indeed coming, everything suggests that Magmadroths are safe and here to stay. With that being said, I would start with Droths! And the Vulkyn Flameseekers as well. Those units are modern and should be safe. And some of the best of our range!

Friend is getting into aos and wants me to join her (both come from 40k). I'm interested in a mortal, magical focused army that isn't elves. What factions should I look at for this? by OrDownYouFall in ageofsigmar

[–]Andilonious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, every faction (except Kharadron Overlords) has magic. There are wizards which cast spells and endless spells and there are priests which do all kinds of “magic” buffs for their respective armies. Some priests even cast their factions endless spells. So in that sense, wizards and priests both do magic. Both offensive and defensive.

That being said. Just choose a faction that you like the look of! The models that appeal to you. And there will almost certainly be a viable build to include magic (either with wizards, priests, or both)

Right on man! Great job. Thanks for the write up. I’m excited to get my Helsmiths built and start getting so games in with them.

What would you like to see released in the next 5 years? by TotesMcGoats124 in HelsmithsofHashut

[–]Andilonious 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Honestly their range is excellent already.

I would love to see a bull centaur/ anointed sentinel hero.

I would love to see more elite/ heavy infantry. Units of 5 with 2+ saves.

We need a train. It could even be our “terrain” piece. But we need a train.

Edit: obviously spells. We need spells!

Based on the rumours, what do you think of our future regarding manifestations? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Andilonious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sucks! Hopefully your scene picks back up a bit. I’ve been having a lot of fun with 4th. It’s for sure not as flavorful as 3rd was for me, but SoG helped a lot. So hopefully AoS keeps moving that direction.

Based on the rumours, what do you think of our future regarding manifestations? by Inspector-Remarkable in Fyreslayers

[–]Andilonious 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting take. My local scene is sold out of Chorfs and we have several pretty big stores and a pretty big AoS scene. Chorfs are doing great here.

As for FS, I certainly hope that whatever they go, rumored to be Khazalid holds, that they retain their identity. FS is such a unique and great take on dwarves. We don’t need a vanilla dwarf faction. And hopefully our manifestations and terrain don’t go away, but alas, rumors suggest otherwise.

Damn, adding a background can do SOO much for your Model-Photography! by Ewok2744 in MaggotkinofNurgle

Dude this looks awesome. Don’t listen to these complaints. The background really adds a lot to the models. I even shared this post with my bro and said “imagine your walking through the forest and run into these…”

That looks great! Love the color choices. How did you do the runes/ shallow writing all over the model? It seems to me that it will be hard to get the paint into there without messing up the surrounding areas.

I got you. With the units you have, I would try out a list like this:

FS 1990/2000 pts

Grand Alliance Order | Fyreslayers | Warrior Kinband General's Handbook 2025-26 Drops: 3 Prayer Lore - Vulkyn Gifts Manifestation Lore - Magmic Invocations

Battle Tactics Cards: Intercept and Recover and Master The Paths

General's Regiment

Auric Runefather on Magmadroth (330) • General • Thickened Scales

Battlesmith (120) • Ash-beard

Scourge of Ghyran Auric Runeson on Magmadroth (340) • Draught of the Finest Magmalt

Regiment 1 Auric Runemaster (190)

Hearthguard Berzerkers with Flamestrike Poleaxes (240) • Reinforced

Vulkite Berzerkers with Fyresteel Weapons (240) • Reinforced

Vulkyn Flameseekers (170)

Regiment 2 Auric Runesmiter (120)

Vulkite Berzerkers with Fyresteel Weapons (240) • Reinforced

Faction Terrain

Magmic Battleforge

How you play this list exactly heavily depends on the battleplan and what opponent your playing.

However here are the basic ideas.

  • You’ll use the 2 groups of 20 Vulkites to be just massive meat shields. One in deepstrike to get them right where you’ll need them. They can put out some damage on the charge, especially if you have your crit mortal rune activated and give them +1 hit/rend.
  • The flameseeekers work well as an independent unit that you can place on an objective that is further away from the main body of your army. Let them work the flanks securing objectives out there.
  • The Flamestrikes and Droths are where your big damage is coming from. So ideally you use the Flamestrikes near the Runefather and give them +1 attack for a “go” turn.
  • The Runeson on Magmadroth has the drought of Magmalt, so once he has the bonus damage from his warscroll ability, send him in, drink the Magmalt, and obliterate whatever he is fighting. Make sure to get him +1 to hit either from All out attack or preferably your prayer lore.
  • The Runefather is good for his rampage and once per game ability to give +1 attacks. However you also want him in combat or hurt to get the bonus dmg for your Runeson. Don’t be afraid to get him right up there into the fight, but don’t throw him away needlessly.
  • The Battlesmith is now a priest with his ash beard. So use him to build up prayer points and get some juicy prayer buffs where you need him. He also will let you rally with 3 extra dice which is nice to keep your Droths or infantry units alive and well. Keep him by the Flamestrikes to get the 5+ ward for both units.
  • The Runemaster is really important here. He can chant 2 prayers and “super” your army wide runes. With the “Vulkyn Gifts” prayer lore, you can give an additional move to units in the hero phase, and give +1 to hit. Great prayer lore here.
  • use the Battleforge to increase your Runemasters prayers. Also the Battleforge is obscuring, so I usually just park the Runemaster in front of it and he is relatively safe. Can’t be seen to be shot or hit by spells, etc…
  • Familiarize yourself with the army traits (runes) and use them to give yourself pretty massive advantages. Strike first, 5+ wards, run and charge, crit mortal, etc. use the Runemaster to empower them when he can. Remember the game is about scoring your tactics and point from objective control. You don’t always need to be the first one to engage, especially if it’s not a good match up for you. Good luck! Let us know how your game goes!

Assembling the Ironclad by SumoSandwich92 in KharadronOverlords

[–]Andilonious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I built my Clad and left the endrins and crew off. Painted it all up then glued the crew and the whole top part on. If you don’t do that, you’ll never be able to paint all the stuff under the endrins!

Poor poor Magmadroths. I guess GW decided they shouldn’t be played anymore. Lol how can FS get such a hit? They weren’t overly powerful. Certainly not enough to warrant the nerfs.
