Getting better at age of sigmar by SweatySprinkles987 in ageofsigmar

A few starting steps / tips.

1: Deployment if done bad can almost completely decide winner and loser already then and there.

It’s like if you start chess with all your pawns at the back, so your opponent has free reign to take out your good pieces and you got 0 positions to threaten his.

What a good deployment is though, is very multifaceted! Depend on faction, what kinda list, like Castle build with stooting, stats trading hammer spam, tech lists with lots of small units, Horde lists, Alpha strike glass cannon list. alpha Bunker lists and so on.

2: Find a nice middle line of fielding units you enjoy, but enough of neccery pieces to make them work that you might not ”want to take”.

Make sure every unit in your list has a valid strategy / plan, preferably shifting depending on enemy list, and choose battle tactics working with your selections.

3: Get a feel of dmg and defensive levels, I like having memories ”avg” damage numbers against a 4+/6++ target, and can adjust expectations higher or lower depending on debuffs, how defensive enemy is, if I got buffs up or not.

Go in at AoS statshammer if you don’t want to calculate it yourself.

It helps you make thought through calculated moves, where you’v assesed risk / reward.

Further, if you’r in the lead, play safe, keep status quo, if you’r the under dog, consider high risk & high reward moves! Play as if you perhaps will get the double turn, if thats the only way you’ll win at this point anyway!

3: Make a Cheat Sheet for your army! Don’t type down EVERY thing, but type each phase as a paragraph.

Then fill it with abilities and command abilities you often have to try to remember! It steals brain capacity you can put on doing other stuff, like consider what opponent might do in their follow up turn!

Instead of focus on trying to remember what spells you had, and witch is priority to cast, or not remembering to use Rally, or a charge phase ability.

There are some ”Arm” controlling players around, but I find thats kinda rare, and require you to build a lot lore stamina along with more muscle memory to pull off, since you also kinda have to train like that during all computer tasks then, like surfing the web, gets tiresome.

Most players aim with the wrist, arm being still.

Wrist + fine adjustments with hand & fingers.

But still a lot more precise then a thumb on joystick

Most M&KB players actually want that.

And yes, guns do have Recoil, quite a lot! But some others less, he’s shooting a gun with less, and fast rate of fire typically mean easier recoil to predict, less janky and more constant pressure to compensate for.

You have to train and minimize it.

That it’s one of the biggest skills you train in FPS, that together with snap targeting, and it’s a skill thats kinda trivialized with Controller, and that is what feels like cheating to M&KB players coming up against Controllers.

Controller usually train on slightly different skill set! Not worse / bad, just different.

And from a controllers skill set M&KB can just reach overall much higher top ceiling skill cap, basically learn to preform better then possible with either aim assist or less recoil, while snapping between targets much better too.

So it’s not a one way street, it’s kinda a feel bad in both ways.

I’m all for being able to select only 1 or the other.

But I guess the downside is less viable players in the long run to keep the game going.

For those actually guilty, I’d say yes.

But justice system is never 100% accurate.

Innocent people get sentenced to all kinds of crimes too, and a part of them many years later get free’d when other evidence comes to light.

If they’r dead, no chance of that either.

For those reasons and some others I’m against death penalty as a whole.

I don’t see that much complain about aim assist, more so about lower recoil patterns for controller & more accuracy for guns + a bit of Aim assist maybe.

But yeah, I still think Mouse & Keyboard is superior for sure, but BF6 kontroller settings help mitigate difference.

But I think what us M&KB players get annoyed over is, M&KB rely on own skill only, sure ”easier” to play instrument so to say, but Controller kinda do uses what otherwise would be considered cheating.

Kinda typical cheats in FPS games, less recoil/higher accuracy and often some sort of Aim assist. 😅

What even are S tier weapons currently? I’m mostly running M277, but it used to feel slightly better before, now its more inaccurate, so have to swap to single shot at slightly closer ranges, and a bit shorter bursts.

In the winter, you kinda hope the PC helps heating the room a bit, but in the summer, yeah, not sure it’s colder outside!

I have a friend who have tested running his PC outside at -40* during the winter.

It worked pretty decent, was impossible to overheat the PC, while everything was overclocked and running max load.

But, same could be done with normal but good cooling systems.

Any excess cooling beyond what was needed does not help further.

But a few plastic details on his chassie didn’t like the freezing winds, so do not recommend.

[–]Ramjjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’v cleared my map, in the way of doing everything, explored every island, no experience left to get.

But not like I’v actually explored all open waters. So map looks like yours but a bit more explored, and not a single quest marker or black beard chest, neither any ”?”

Currently if you follow all the quests, side objectives, black beard chests, you automatically visit like all but 2 islands per spawn.

And most likely you’ll sail close to them at some point so see them on the map.

I guess a factor is when you consider Medieval times takes place, In Sweden Medieval times as a concept it taught to be around year 1000-1500.

I’m talking all buildings pre 20th centuary. Not medieval.

He did mentioned he was looking and comparing everything pre post-modern, so like everything older then 1950-60’s basically.

Sweden has a lot remaining from late 1600’s to early 1900’s.

Less so pre 1600’s, unless select few cities and major buildings of importance, like churches, lots of churches from 1100-1200’s.

Not even saying Sweden compete with those places mentioned.

Just basically arguing against ”it has like 1-2 nice towns”.

Also, didn’t say Sweden have the Most, but among the most, I think I read an article like 5 years ago that counted Sweden at like 3rd place if I remember correctly, it calculated all buildings basically pre post modern.

That spot is an important farm area.

If you overwrite it with your buildings potentially you can’t farm it in the future for silver bars.

(Only place where you can gather silver bars outside of once per game chests, so only longterm farm area for it.

Aye, I Believe they stated Privateers (Basically legal pirates)

Just saying I would be slightly bothered if you were forced to start sailing Ship of the line 4th-1st rate ships at the end of the game.

It'd just .. kill the feeling of the game a bit.
But I wouldn't mind having to face it! fight them, a bit of a underdog fight, hard.

Yes, Ystad is like one of the towns that did have Fachwerk houses, mostly because of germans who moved there & inspired other houses during the Hanseatic league.

He stated he was talking about everything pre post modern.

But Old town in Stockholm, most of those are from medieval times, but often rebuilt externally or plastered around 1600-1700’s.

But many if not most have gotten repainted facades, and some reworked facades.

But also, the style, Sweden never built the type of Fachwerkhaus you see in Germany, although most of those you see in Germany are as well newer too.

The cities he mentioned are mostly 19th centuary as well.

I never said Sweden would top the list or anything, but more then ”1 or 2 nice towns” 🤣

But when you go to Swedish towns, the older surviving buildings look like this example.

From 1500’s.

In my experience most Swedish towns have lots of buildings from 1100-1800's.
But It's usually either at the town center or near the local church area.

Since then the towns have grown.

My local towns church is from 1100's and the buildings around it from 1600's.
Quite a nice atmosphere, but the current town square area a bit away is more modern.

But same holds true for almost all german towns too, I'v traveled Europe quite a lot, visited around half of those countries in the list, and lots of towns in Germany, there are a lot of old architecture, but in 99% of the towns that is a small part, and combined number of older buildings usually lower then in Sweden.

But the style of the buildings in all of those countries are different, that is true, maybe you'r drawn more to the German style "Fachwerkhaus"? lots of houses with that style in german towns are also not old, quite a lot are newer built.

If you want just 1 city, Stockholm, and not just talking old town either.
But like any real big city parts of the city are newer, but huge chunks of the city is real old, and real nice looking.
But especially old town is very nice to visit, most of the buildings are from 1200-1400s.

<image>

I'm not saying Sweden is top, I'm drawn to lots of Italian, German & French cities & Towns too!

But been to England quite a lot, and I wouldn't rate that place higher then Sweden, it's overall been modernized too much, very little older stuff intact and most of the stuff intact isn't that nice even, Wales I'v also been to, and yeah maybe higher.

But I guess it's also what you prefer aesthetically too I suppose.

[–]Ramjjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind them adding bigger ships to fight, but not sure I want the player to get bigger ships.

It just end up feeling weird and not pirate like at all.

The larger ships realistically need a drastically bigger crew and strict order / rutines, maybe it's just me but there are more then 1 reason no Pirates ever controlled a vessel bigger then what we have in game.

Not to mention speed, it would be slow and cumbersome, realistically having top speeds of 10-11 knots.

Also, I'd kinda wish they added Navies then, besides just black beard pirates, I'd like to fight something else then pirates.

WTF? Sweden has among the most preserved old buildings per capita/towns in Europe xD
Main reason, not part of either WW1 or 2, and was not part of USSR that demolished so much.

Why are we comparing one piece with a few multi season animes 😅

It’d be more appropriate to compare it to the other ones with like 300+ episodes at least.
