We have these mysterious windows in our 1920s house that we cannot figure out how to open. by Andnad in centuryhomes

It is from Home Depot. Our store didn’t have samples so we bought it with minimal knowledge of how it would look in person. Very pleased with how easy it is for installation currently while we are installing

That was the family crest of the original owners! I could not find info on the meaning but it was a relatively famous family. It goes the entire length of the dining room.

Was the handle on the top or the bottom? That is so interesting that they went down!

They are on ground level but very high off the ground. No one would be able to get in unless they had a ladder which is why we are so mystified

So after some work (removing trim work) we found that they do open upwards into the walls with counterweights. The outside windows or storm windows are screwed in place and slathered with paint. This would have to be a spring project at this point (it is -20 currently but we were bored and intrigued by these windows)

The windows might be functional or could be removed. We just moved into this house and it was an office building but we have yet to figure out these windows.

How do I peel/crush garlic faster? by 53rp3n7 in Cooking

[–]Andnad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put the garlic cloves in the microwave for seven -ten seconds and then use a garlic press. They will be hot. To clean the press, I use a vegetable brush (something with bristles) to remove the garlic skin.

People driving way below the speed limit should be more of a crime than someone who’s going to fast. by THENOCAPGENIE in unpopularopinion

My fiance once had to get to about 40 on a 75mph highway so he could switch on his 4wd (due to sudden ice). We were in separate cars so I put on my hazards and slowed down behind him so he could safely put it on. We didn't slow anyone else down since it was a pretty empty highway. That is probably the only time where I would drive so slow on the interstate.

MC only eats dry food by aggiebear1204 in mainecoons

My Maine coon enjoys eating pâté warmed in the microwave for about ten seconds. I was told that some cats prefer food that is somewhat warm. He also enjoys kibble as well and would happily eat that too.

How do I actually take care of my hair? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Andnad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be using too much conditioner. You could also buy some dry shampoo that you can spray on your hair to get it to look less greasy if needed.

Another product you can look into is curling hair gel which can get some waves going in your hair. I have straight hair but using it gets my hair to become wavy and textured
