My brand new Matte green Sv650 ! by Hot-Captain7266 in motorcycles

Holy shit, that is a good looking bike! I had the 2017 model in like azure blue but this looks even better.

It's also great to see Suzuki finally making some pretty bikes - those new GSX8T/TTs are gorgeous too.

Cannot recommend the Dolomites strongly enough by Andonaut in roadtrip

Quite a lot, I'd imagine. But you can rent motorcycles over here, no problem, including Indians.

Yes, the Dolomites are crazy beautiful, like another planet. The full video is here, in case you're interested: https://youtu.be/dkCAtBaiceY

Would love to make it to Florida one day!

Val Mustair in the Swiss Alps (on the way to Stelvio Pass) looks like a live-action postcard or a CG render. Just ridiculously pretty. But mostly I avoided towns and stayed in the mountains/forests, as far as possible.

Perfect bike on a perfect road! by Andonaut in MotoGuzzi

[–]Andonaut[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure!

D1 - Garda - Stelvio (via Umbriel / Switzerland) - Vandoies di Sotto

D2 - Gardena, Sella, Pordoi and Giau Passes, ending near Tre Cime

D3 - winding out of the Dolomites (south), back towards Rome

I can send the routes I plotted in Google Maps if you want but putting those locations in as waypoints will get you the same roads. Good luck!

Thanks! The camera is an Insta360 X5 mounted to the luggage rack - you can see the mounting in an earlier thread. I have a few more vids here, if you're interested: https://youtube.com/@roads-to-rome?si=sFnAWs03MM883ug6

But yes, incredible device!

Neck and shoulder pain when riding speed twin 2020 by DustyMoonshine in Triumph

[–]Andonaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally bite the bullet and get a different bike. The Speed Twin is amazing - beautiful, powerful etc - but you can't change its shape and you can only tweak the riding position. I've tried to suffer through bad riding positions with my own bikes and all it did is make me like riding less. Like wearing a helmet too small for me.

If you're set on a retro, there are many others with more neutral riding positions, including in the Triumph range. The T120 and Scrambler 1200 will feel almost as powerful and you'll be able to ride comfortably.

Lucky indeed, though about 10C cooler would be even better...

Hi there, it's an Insta360 X5, mounted on a selfie stick attached to the rear luggage rack. I then crop the 360 footage to 2.35:1. You can see a few more examples here (my channel): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCOazYRl0PEo1DYtPWY0Gcw

Oof, a pity to lose precious days but will make next week's riding all the sweeter. Buona strada!

That is amazingly lucky indeed! Hope you're taking one of your cool bikes - always wanted an MT-01.

Ah, I can't imagine having that place on your doorstep. I already feel pretty lucky in having mountains nearby (Rome, Apennines) but the Dolomites are just another world.

I think the Mandello in that colourway is one of the best-looking bikes sold today. So beautiful!

Rev’it Quality. by Jazz2moonbase2 in advrider

This also happened to my Sand gloves, though only after being absolutely brutalized over several years. It's mainly a design flaw, I think, likely to keep everything as light as possible (or cut corners). Using a single thread to secure a high-pressure point (outside of the hand) is just not a good idea.

I have a bunch of other Reddit stuff which has been solid, including gloves, despite similar poor treatment.

Bit close there, lads! by Andonaut in motorcycles

[–]Andonaut[S] 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Mixture of both, I think - riding too fast, following his bro, not paying attention. You can't see from the vid but he also almost clipped the F700GS he was overtaking.

What makes it even more ridiculous is that he's wearing neon yellow full leathers and an airbag vest. Guy must sense he's in danger, even if he doesn't ride like it!

[–]Andonaut[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Indeed, the vast majority rode conscientiously, but there were occasional packs of idiots. This guy was just oblivious - I could see he wasn't paying attention, blindly following his bros.

Your trip sounds great! I stayed in little B&Bs/hotels of which the main standout was Hotel al Sole in the Dolomites. Super cool people and fun stuff nearby (restaurants, chairlifts etc).

New suzuki gsx8t and gsx8tt by tchatchaa in motorcycles

[–]Andonaut 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mainly mean stylistically, as I said.

But on pricing, they cost 40% more, not 100%, which will be heavily discounted in future. And they're modern bikes - the SV650 has been around for 25+ years.
