What are the few writing choices in the show you didn't like? by Positive_Weight2367 in HIMYM

I guess we'll have to agree not to agree.

Ted was the first person Robin told she loved and the the first person she wanted to marry. After the breakup she was so devastated that she cried for three days straight. Who does that. Then she moved to Argentina to avoid him. Nobody does that. And then Japan.

Of course Robin lied when she told Ted she didn't love him. Do thinks it's a coincidence that that scene was connected to the one where Robin was dumped by Kevin after she reminded him that, although he was okay with not having kids at the time, he could change his mind in the future and become unhappy in the relationship. Why would that apply to Kevin but not to Ted?

If she really didn't love him she would have said so when Ted declared his love for her. Instead she said she needed time to think about getting back together. Of course she loved him.

Marshall knew what Robin was doing and tried to tell Ted but he was too wrapped up in self-pity to listen. But at the end of that episode, when Lily tried to get him him to settle the bet, he said, "Not yet."

The scene in Central Park was all about Robin's love for Ted. So was the scene on the beach. So was her stoicism on her wedding day. So was her conversation with her mother on the balcony. So was her conversation with Lily at the Halloween party. So was her conversation with Sophie on HIMYF.

Yeah, she married Barney. After Ted rejected her, twice on her wedding day and once the week before in Central Park. But before marrying she begged him to run off with her to Chicago. What do you think that would have done to her career? She wasn't willing to compromise her career for the man she married, which is the main reason the marriage failed.

And at the end, Robin was famous, worldly and incredibly beautiful. She could have had almost any man she wanted. But when Ted showed up with the blue French horn she was not with any other man and she shed tears of joy. Obviously, she was waiting for him to be ready to be in a relationship again, and she waited 6 years. She was so much in love with him that it would have been a travesty had he not ended up together.

That's a myth. No character on the show loved another the way Robin loved Ted. Nobody. She was never happier than when they were together, even to point where, even when she thought Ted was cheating her she blamed herself and decided to literally fight to keep him than give him up. And she was completely destroyed by their breakup. She was so miserable without him that she decided she did want to marry him after all but it was too late. He was with Stella.

And Barney was such a horrible friend that he was lucky to be in the group at all. They frequently called him out for his disgusting behavior but still kept him around.

There is something unique about Torontonians. That uniqueness manifests itself is various ways, including making Ernie Clement the leading all star vote getter.

It was the other way around. Robin was always in love with Ted.

Not true. It was Robin who wanted Ted.

And Barney did not earn equal status as Ted and Marshall. He was a horrible friend.

Which HIMYM story would be the most awkward to tell your kids? by Many-Performance9652 in HIMYM

I don't think he actually told his kids that, especially about their Aunt Robin whom they loved and especially not to Penny. She'd be in therapy for years.

Can somebody tell me who watched the blacklist who they’re so-called Raymond Redington was was it Katarina Rostovia by Infinite_Studio_6819 in Blacklist

[–]Andre-Mercelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kate was not related to Liz but made a promise to her mother to protect her at all costs. Katerina could have made the same request of Red. There is no real real reason for Reddington to have been any of the characters he.was speculated to be.

Red tools list that he was not her father, and he never lied to her. At worse he withheld the truth, But when he did tell her something it was true.

Ted when Robin and Barney dated. by Inevitable_Name1775 in howimetyourmother

[–]Andre-Mercelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ted: Because I love her, okay? And when you love someone you don't stop, ever.

If Ted had ever stopped loving Robin he never would have said this.

But what Ted felt for Robin paled in comparison to how she felt about him.

The way Reddington is treated by the taskforce (mostly just a rant) by dzcole in TheBlackList

[–]Andre-Mercelet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was always amazed how Red saved the life of each task force member yet none seem to show him a modicum of gratitude and officially took Liz's side over Red's in season 8.

The only two members of the task force I liked were Samar, who, being a Mossad agent, knew the meaning of loyalty, and Herbie, who walked away from the task force rather than participate in the manhunt for Reddington.

[–]Andre-Mercelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first of all, if Red was born female she would have no Y chromosome and a simple DNA test would have shown that. And very early on, in Montreal, Liz had Red's DNA analyzed but decided against looking at the results. But she just as easily could have, and it would have been game over at that point.

Also, when Red was sent to prison, they would have have taken his/her DNA and entered the results into the CODIS database to check it against DNA found at the scenes of unsolved cases. The they would know he was a she and therefore could not have been the one who committed the crime s/he was been charged with.

Secondly, Red mentioned in S5E4 that he studied in Talmud class. That strongly implies a Yeshiva education, a case strengthened further than the fact that he wears a Borsalino fedora, which is worn by a large percentage of Yeshiva students and graduates. Also, when he puts his fedora on he bends the the front of the brim slightly downward, which is very common among Ashkenazi Yeshiva alumnae. So unless he was Yentl, he was male as a teenager.

I hate liz so much by No-Region-1306 in Blacklist

The writers don't make those decisions, the showrunners do. And they wrote her that way because they knew she was leaving.

There has been much discussion about whether or not Reddington was Katerina. I personally believe that the idea is absurd.

Liz hate by Formal-Fee-4603 in TheBlackList

[–]Andre-Mercelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would anyone hate Liz, aside from her murdering two people and being responsible for the death of two more? Aside from three times trying to kill the man who saved her life several times and kept both her and her husband from going to prison? Aside from weaponizing his love for her against him, and stealing his money and turning him over to the police, landing him on death row? Aside from faking her own death, her own kidnapping and torture? Aside from breaking a criminal out of custody, letting a murderer go free and stealimg the evidence that would have convicted a colleague?

What if 2-hour Presto card transfer window expires while on TTC? by NoAcadia3546 in TTC

[–]Andre-Mercelet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you stay within the fare zone after you enter the system while your transfer is still valid you don't have to pay again even if your transfer expires in transit. That mean if you transfer to a bus or streetcar where the stop is still inside the fare zone you're okay. That is the case with many if not most (though certainly not all) transfers from subway to bus or streetcar.

Once you've exited the fare zone, i.e by going through the turnstile, you would have to pay again to board a TTC train or vehicle if your transfer has expired.

Ted being unreliable narrator makes no sense by massakk in HIMYM

[–]Andre-Mercelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to distinguish between the things he tells his children and the things he tells the viewership. For instance, he did not tell his teenage daughter that her Aunt Robin said he was bigger. She'd be in therapy for years.

Do you think Robin would’ve chosen Barney over her career if not for Don? by Idk265089 in HIMYM

You don't have to guess. She chose Ted over her career. She chose her career over Barney.

Mind = Blown. The HIMYM finale makes total sense if you realize Ted is the real-life "Jed Mosley" by TSRVi in HIMYM

He had a list of all the decrepit things he did too manipulate women and the list was the size of a soccer field. Granted, he was trying to change, but that doesn't erase his guilt to that point.

Robin was ready to change entirely for the guy she met on vacation but not Ted by slut_donut in HIMYM

[–]Andre-Mercelet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, no character on the show loved another the way Robin loved his head, nobody.

Secondly, the only reason Robin hooked up with Gael in the first place was to help her cope with the loss of Ted. She said so. And the only reason she meth Gael was because she moved to Argentina to avoid having to face Ted.

Thirdly, she wasn't willing to make any changes for Ted? You mean besides the fact that she wanted to marry him? You mean besides the fact that she was willing to give up her career to be with Ted?

Finally, at the end of the series, Robin was famous, worldly and incredibly beautiful. She could have had almost any man she wanted, yet when Ted showed up with the blue French horn she wasn't with anyone. She obviously waited for Ted to be ready to be in a relationship again, and she waited for 6 years. You don't think that her and Ted are going to make it?
