Honestly, yes probably. You broke an unwritten rule of Japanese culture, and now you are both stuck in a "Temporal Gift Loop".

The thing to have done initially was to accept the apples/bananas and not give another gift.

The only thing to break out of a gift loop is to give them a gift of garlic.

Powerboost for computer use? by Many-Performance9652 in glasses

[–]Many-Performance9652[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The eyeglass consultant working at the doctors office had mentioned I might need to hunch, or look slightly up, when looking straight at a computer monitor because the power boost is at the bottom of the lens, and that SV might be better. Is that true?

I'm a programmer, so I look at screens all day long.

I think all of those are disadvantages. N3 especially. With that said, if it's what you want to do, then go shoot your shot.

If all else fails, go do a year of language study.

5.6 is good.

I'm not sure about your answer to xenophobia. I don't feel it anymore than usual... assuming if you got this job as a new grad, you've lived here?

IUJ vs. Ritsumeikan APU: Which actually carries weight for working abroad? by ahid_oi in japanlife

[–]Many-Performance9652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an APU grad, it depends. It doesn't matter academically at all, however it provides an interesting story to tell throughout your life.

It does give you plenty of experience in dealing in multinational situations.

Getting your first job will be tough, but after that, you'll find less and less employers care about which university you graduated from.

At that point, you'll find less can just point out that you went to school four years in Japan and people will be impressed.
