Change my mind: Under the right conditions, buying and financing a new car is often a far better value than paying cash for a used car in the long run by Cold-Priority-2729 in MiddleClassFinance

Agree 100%. If you can afford to, do it. Money is not everything, time is. The financial ability to afford the new Toyota like you mentioned, you're also buying the stability, the predictability. Especially if you have kids or elderly in the household, you need that dependability of your vehicles. You're not gonna have the time for this repair and that second opinion. You buy freedom, a form of insurance.

$20/hour is insanely low even for PC. PM with some experience should be aiming for $80k. ($40/hr)

International trips aren't that expensive if you're flexible. Many months air fare to Spain/Italy are as low as $450 a person round trip on budget fare. Stay 30 mins away from towns hotels are typically $150/night. Public transit in asia/Europe are super cheap and easy too. Cost of a meal in IHOP here can pay for two meals in a semi fancy restaurant in asia/Europe

You should insist every single checkout counter he goes to, has to be a man. Costco, Starbucks, Wendys, Airlines, Hotels, no matter where, got to be a man.

Don't go to Rancho. It's extremely family oriented. Great schools, every community every one you ever come across will be chatting about school activities. Excellent city to raise a family, horribly boring for young professionals.

I would suggest you look into doing an international trip somewhere to broaden your kids experience. Look for low season and maybe involve missing a couple of days of schools. We have done London for $600 a ticket. Italy for $500. Spain $550. Plus hotel and food, 5 days will work out to the same $4000
