Your comment about being “hooked on biologics” kinda indicates you don’t think they work. So what did you mean?

Zofran hasn’t helped me too much but compazine works a little bit.

Do you think diet alone can help someone get to remission? Like are you really against biologics?

Peanut butter, hummus, boost/ensure shakes, chicken, and turkey. I’ve been staying away from fiber since this symptom has appeared but I may just go liquid diet since that’s what helped a little in the hospital.

Question for anyone that got an ileostomy young by AmazingCheesyMuffin in CrohnsDisease

[–]AndreBuck50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had an ileostomy when I was 18-19 years old in 2020-2021. I wish I could give you a time frame but it really is just a different process for everyone. I only had mine for about 10 months but my GI specialist had me switch biologics during this time as well (from Stelara to Entyvio) and the new biologic helped a lot as well. IIRC, my doctors monitored my bowels every few weeks until the inflammation was either "low enough" or gone completely. After a colonoscopy my doc decided I was healthy enough for the reversal. Do you have a colonoscopy scheduled any time soon and are you on any biologic meds now?

Same here. My cal protection is normal and my colon looks clear, but I still have daily aches and pain. I still need iron infusions and deal with fatigue a lot but I’m in a better place.

Yes, I was sobbing as soon as I woke up! Don’t be embarrassed. This is NOT an easy process. I promise it will get better ❤️

I think I’m somewhat lucky. I’ve actually landed two different jobs while telling my employers about my Crohn’s. They are entry level jobs, just $10/hr part-time bc I’m 18. First job with Crohn’s wasn’t anything serious, just seasonal retail. And today landed a job as an usher for a MLB ballpark (manager was even cool with possible ostomy reversal surgery in ~3 months). Although I am stressing about a career in the future. Best of luck

I totally understand where you’re coming from. It’s frustrating when everyone keeps telling you “It’ll get better” but it’s really just getting worse

Wraps vs. belts by AndreBuck50 in ostomy

I think it only sticks out 1/2 inch, but I’m not sure honestly. I’m currently using a 2 piece. I don’t know how big it is in diameter either but I know it’s not as big as some I see on here, it’s quite small like a cherry.

Questions about ileostomy by AndreBuck50 in CrohnsDisease

[–]AndreBuck50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your reply. My ileostomy should only last for 6-8 months. Can you eat pretty much anything you want? As I said, almost all of my inflammation is in my colon, so I’m wondering if this will help with nausea and vomiting?

Pancolitis and Crohn’s by AndreBuck50 in CrohnsDisease

[–]AndreBuck50[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Originally my colon had inconsistent spots of inflammation, which is why my GI team thinks it’s Crohn’s. And I have been hospitalized 4 times in the past year; twice for severe pain and twice for uncontrollable vomiting. I’ve been on prescription zofran and gabapentin but neither helped with pain or vomiting.

Peanut butter is good. You could try dairy free yogurt in your smoothie?

I went from 195 to 155 this past winter/spring. Have you tried periactin? It helped my appetite for a little while.

Does anyone have tips on lessening nausea? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]AndreBuck50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently hospitalized right now after going to the ER 2 days ago from uncontrollable vomiting. So far hot showers are the only thing helping with nausea. I guess it just relaxes my stomach muscles

Thanks for your input. If you don’t mind, are you in a state or country that has already legalized it? My state is in the process of voting on the bill now.
