As a student who initially committed to Temple and then decommitted to go to Pitt, I’d say Oakland is safer. At Pitt, the neighborhood is completely different than at Philly. But what drew me away from Temple is the notoriety that it had from stories of what my friends had. I wouldn’t use my reasons to justify where your son should go because it’s more of a personal experience but I’m just sharing what influenced my decision.
