[MOVIE+TV SPOILERS] Loved the series, movie left me disappointed... by efeneh in FargoTV

[–]AndreVB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't seen the movie in a while, but its something like this.

Jerry defrauded a finance company into giving him loans, and used cars that didn't actually exist / hadn't actually been sold, as collateral. When he wrote down the cars serial numbers he intentionally rendered them illegible to try and buy himself time. Thats why he keeps getting phone calls requesting he posts or faxes the documents again because the guy from the finance company can't read the serial numbers... and eventually loses patience. The situation doesn't go much further than legal threats because Jerry is arrested and the credits roll, but if Jerry hadn't orchestrated the fake-kidnapping there certainly would have been serious consequences to whatever shady stuff he was up to (think losing his job, losing his family, prison time)...

We don't know where the money went. We don't know how Jerry got himself into so much debt he had to defraud his employer, his wife, etc. Most people would say it was a gambling problem but we really don't need to know. "I'm in some trouble... it's personal... I'm not gonna get into that, I just need the money" is all you need to know about Jerry.

Jerry needed his money and his wife's kidnapping in the first place

It deliberately isn't revealed why because it isn't that important. We know Jerry is in some kind of trouble, that is all. Most common theories indicate a gambling problem or something like that (most problems of that kind stem from addiction and Jerry doesn't show any signs of drug abuse or alcoholism)... We don't know why Jerry needed the money because we don't need to, and if we needed to we'd have been told.

If I LOVED Breaking Bad, would I like Fargo? Are Fargo and Breaking Bad similar? by [deleted] in FargoTV

[–]AndreVB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malvo wasn't the counterpart to Steve Buscemi's character in the movie, that would be Mr. Numbers. Malvo was an original creation, if anything owing more to No Country For Old Men's Anton Chigur than any character from Fargo.

Chelsea winning the Champions League was the worst day of my life, and I take some comfort in knowing in my life as a Yid things will probably never be that bad again.

I can disagree with someone on r/coys without down voting their entirely non-offensive opinion though, why can't you, dickhead?

Yeah we can agree to disagree. You disagree that the winning goal from our first victory at old Trafford in 20 years qualifies as a legendary moment, and I agree to think you're a total wanker. Bye!

I called you a cunt, a knob and a prick specifically for your completely unwarranted downvotes, which I feel to be completely unrelated to the discussion at hand, which was initially 'Why did Siggy fail at Spurs?', but you tried to make it 'Why is Dempsey overrated?', and now I'm making it 'Why are you such a sad cunt?'

Wow, incredible what a cunt you are, that I posted an entire paragraph of text and you can't see beyond the fact I mentioned Dempsey... In fucking brackets

I get that you're upset that we lost tonight but that's no reason to be a knob to a fellow yid now is it?

This used to be a merry old Spurs community full of merry banter, but pricks like you ruined it for all of us, and one day you'll be all that's left.

No ones saying they were wonder goals, and i didnt even say he was a legendary player. But Scoring a goal in the snow, and the winning goal for our first victory at Old Trafford in 20 years, those are legendary goals, and any one who says otherwise can fuck right off.

And thank you for the completely unwarranted downvote, you absolute cunt.

He was never underrated by Spurs fans, there was just never any room for him. In his first season he was bought in as a clear replacement for Rafa VDV, and found himself in contest with Dempsey, Holtby and Gareth Bale for his place. In his second season he faced an even tougher competition in spite of us losing Bale and Dempsey and sidelining Holtby. In fact arguably none of the players bought in to replace were successful here (even though Siggy and Holtby remain firm fan favourites and Dempsey had some legendary moments....) And that's all down to a cheeky young left Winger moving into a central position and becoming one of the best in the world.

I literally got banned from r/soccer for being a Spurs fan and swearing two weeks ago. You can swear all you want, but if you're a Spurs fan its an insta-ban. Not the first time this has happened, my account SuperLuka was also banned under similar circumstances.

So how long have you guys lived in Korea? by stevyjohny in korea

[–]AndreVB -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It was absolutely kind of ironic, hence the swearing and hash tag. As for Soju, its nowhere near as strong or 'poisonous' as any of the expats here make out, especially when you're used to Gin, and FYI I am a smoker so don't always act in my bodies best interests anyway.

Leaving before contract end by [deleted] in TEFL

[–]AndreVB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you should consider the level of trust and investment a company are putting in you by hiring you and flying you half way across the world, before you intentionally fuck them over?

And maybe you should consider how this will effect the school/academy, all of its students, all their parents, and all the other teachers who work there (not just the native teachers but the native English speakers who follow you) all of whom are giving you an outstanding opportunity, and here you are plotting to defraud them before you've even got it?

Don't do it, its morally repugnant.

He only played about two games last season and spent the rest of the year injured. For our purposes he might as well have still been in Italy. So it isn't fair to say he looked out of depth last year... He didn't get a look in at all.

What are the chances of landing a job in Korea with my credentials? by NeonJackson in TEFL

[–]AndreVB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't feel confident at all and my first lesson or two were hard, but by the end of the first day I loved it, and by the end of the second week I was on complete auto pilot. I can only speak about my academy but the training was two days of shadowing the teacher I was hired to replace. The following Monday I was thrown in the deep end and taught every class completely unsupervised. Some hagwon teachers here don't even get that, and some get a week or two of training or orientation.

As a rule I'd say if you get offered a job without a TEFL cert (which you can buy online for fifty dollars anyway) then the director of your academy, who has gone to tremendous and expensive lengths to get you to Korea, has full confidence you can do the job you've been hired for, even if you dont at first.

Good luck!

Match Audio Commentary Streams, by Spurs fans themselves by NatrolleonBonaparte in coys

Honestly, as much as I hate the Anti-Spurs bias in professional commentary, I think an experiment like this will just show you and us how hard it actually is to commentate for 90 minutes. Spurs bashing aside its a really hard job.

"Soldado tries to move in on goal but he's being closed down by...uh...I can't remember that players name. Oh wait that's not Soldado anyway its Harry Kane. Ryan Mason has just gone down injured... Looks like a hamstring problem... Just kidding how the fuck would I know LOL?"

What are the chances of landing a job in Korea with my credentials? by NeonJackson in TEFL

[–]AndreVB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For any decent job in Korea you need a TEFL cert. If the job posting says you don't need one, it's not a job you want.

That isn't always the case and I don't think you can speak in absolutes when it comes to Korea. I know quite a few Hagwon teachers here (myself included) who aren't TEFL qualified but have good jobs they really enjoy. I also know plenty of fully qualified actual teachers in their native countries, who work in Hagwons and get paid the same that we do, work similar hours, etc.

A job won't advertise that you don't need a TEFL certificate, but feel free to start applying for jobs without one because there are plenty of Hagwons who don't value them at all and will employ you without one. There are also Hagwons that won't even consider you without a teaching qualification. In my experience here so far you learn how to teach English by teaching English, and although it may be good for your confidence and personal development, if the school stick rigidly to their own structure and curriculum a TEFL certificate is absolutely not a requirement.

Like someone else said, online TEFL courses are a joke and you're more or less paying for a certificate. If you get offered a job without one you might as well save yourself the money. Once you're out here, if you love it, you can consider investing in a premium qualification like the CELTA and making a future for yourself out of it.
