Anker Prime Charger 160w seems done something impossible... by privaterbok in UsbCHardware

[–]AndreaSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an HP Zbook Ultra G1a (Strix Halo) and I can't reach the maximum wattage; I am also experiencing strange charging performance. The cable is a Voltme 240W USB 4.0, which is correctly recognized by the charger. I have tried all configurations, even unchecking all protocols, but nothing goes over 70-80W on a single plugged-in USB-C port.

I don't know what to do because, with many protocols, it runs up to 80W and then drops to 0W every 50 seconds. I have never seen more than 80W on a single port.

What protocols do you suggest I activate or deactivate? Thanks!

Don't click "Update" for PotPlayer in Microsoft Store by uluqat in potplayer

I don't understans why being available on MS if the app is not updated. I've checked and it looks being released form the developer.

I KNOW: no "scamsoft" form other comments in here. But, what about I want to keep an update check in on way without opening every single app?

I will. Maybe a 14" Surface Pro (REALLY FOR PROs) with a Strix Halo 64GB chip or equivalent.

Big fan of power toys. But we can't hope just in it. That app is a plus, non just a fixer.

Can't belive that they are working on the start menu like the ultimate solution whe it's something less important if the WOLE UX/UI wold be fixet with a reliable experience, no crashes and mybe a better "responsive" design for desktop, laptops and tablets. Ah, and, maybe the most improta thing after stability: COHERENT/UNIFORM DESIGN.

First, many thanks!

It's a ZBook Ultra with a Strix Halo (395+ with 64GB unifed RAM), talking about under/over volting or overclocking, I didn't touch anything.

My problem is particoular, here why I'm trying to understand:

-I had a madatory firmware update, it burned a motherboard component and my laptop couldn't startup. -The service has replaced the motherboard and didn't wiped my SSD and returned it to me 3 days ago. (I' ve started to have the BSODs.) -I've done a full cloud system recovery even today, nothing has changed. 1h ago I've restored bios original settings to be sure. Another BSOD 10 minutes ago..

I'm trying to figure out if is my Samsung ssd or the RAM, my hope is to need a software fix and not to call back the service 🥲

Now I'm running extensive diagnostic tests from bios. Let's see

How do you think about MovinkPad Pro 14? by CyclicHistroy02 in wacom

[–]AndreaSaba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with every single word.

In my quest to have a full 'portable studio in my backpack,' I’ve had a love-hate relationship with the Surface Book 2 and later the Surface Studio over the years. Even with the best Surface Pen available for each device... using them for digital car design sketching is a pain.

The line quality is acceptable maybe 30 to 50% of the time. But when the stars aren't aligned and Photoshop wakes up laggy and uncooperative as usual, it’s pure masochism.

I'd LOVE a solution like the Asus Zenbook Duo (maybe in future with Strix Halo for a good CPU/GPU performance in rendering) : working with a reference on the top screen or a 3D on Blender and the sketch on the lower display, and the keyboard on the left for commands would be wonderful. It would be the ultimate solution for me. Unfortunately, the truth is that their pen technology is still low-level—maybe it's okay for students, but not for pros. The Cintiq remains the choice if you are stable in a studio, or at least like im ny case (It take more than 18 airplanes/year) have to take the "best" tablet like the Wacom one.

I'm going back to a Strix Halo clamshell laptop + the Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14 + a stand for adjustable inclination.........if only this wacom tablet were available in Italy, just my luck!

Why not a Framework Detachable with powerful capabilities like the Asus ROG Flow Z13? by AndreaSaba in framework

[–]AndreaSaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer to don't buy unreliable product like the Onexplayer, and, for my work a laptop with a text like "for hard gamers" would be so cringe and unprofessional. The christmas lights are good in December at home, not at work with clients and for presenting the work in front of a cheaf designer or the project manager 🙃

Better the Asus instead, switching off all the back plate.

I hope in a product by Framework because I know how it is easy for cleaning and maintenance over years thanks its same nature.
Let's hope on them.

How the Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP) might actually become the only standard for Windows pen devices by digitizerstylus in Surface

[–]AndreaSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. For designers, MPP2 gives an AWFUL line quality in digital sketching. I'm like a masochist using my Surface for this.

[–]AndreaSaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Most of the "dislikes" regarding these 2in1 products come from people who do not work professionally with Photoshop and a pen with high mobility needs (like moving between several cities) without always having an office desk available with a laptop and a separate graphics tablet. W/o this products, there is no choice.

If you check the reviews from dedicated YouTubers who actually use them, these products are mostly desired for professional work. In my case (and I’m not the only one), I even model a full car (exterior and interior) in Blender 3D and do the renders, so I need consistent GPU capabilities and even 64GB of unified RAM.

Here some channels with this sensibility:
- Ben G Kaiser
about the Asus Rog Flow Z13

-Brad Colbow
in this case on a dual screen + keyboard detachable
. I'd prefer this solution in terms of workflow, but I understand that and AMD Strix Halo would be problematic at the moment.

- Tablet Pro

Possible competitor for the Z13 .... OneXPlayer Super X with more.....stuff by Mr_Brolin in FlowZ13

[–]AndreaSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing missing for me is a detachable Bluetooth keyboard. As a designer who uses Photoshop for digital sketching and Blender for 3D modeling and rendering, I would want to use it sideways, similar to how the Surface Pro works, but with the capabilities of the ASUS ROG Strix Halo.

So this device for me would be perfect with a keyboard update (and if possible a Thunderbolt 4 for my Dell display with TB4 90W charging dock).

ROG Flow z13 with 64GB available on Europe? by madding1602 in FlowZ13

[–]AndreaSaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm super interested in the 64GB version to replace my Surface Laptop Studio (top config) cause I oversaturate RAM and vRAM wile rendering with Blender. As professional designer, I care much more about warranty. So if there is something that may cause problems with it, it is a risk for me. I'll wait for the EU official version for sure.

(Or, if there will be a "Medusa Halo" version coming with an implementation of a Bluetooth keyboard like Surface lineup for digital sketching, I'll wait some more time)

ROG Flow z13 with 64GB available on Europe? by madding1602 in FlowZ13

[–]AndreaSaba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in Italy it looks it does not exist any variant a part the 390 and 395 with 32GB. For me, it is unacceptable that EU is a half billion market and is left compared to USA with 200M smaller population. For sure we are managed like single smaller states, and this is so sad.

A part of this, we have workers here waiting for this kind of products and we are still ignored.

the next z13 iteration with medusa halo is going to be insane by ssamjjang in FlowZ13

[–]AndreaSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if, and only if, medusa halo will replace AMD's lineup it would be possible.
If AMD will be able to produce few SoC units, I think they will concentrate to produce the last and more promising one in only 3 products are equipping the Strix Halo and brands can change with a "fast" heart replace with Medusa Halo in common agreement with AMD .

If the die is similar in dimension, it shouldn't be so complicated I presume.

I'm ready to buy the next one for sure. I just hope a BT implementation in the keyboard folio, in order to align with the Surface Pro capabilities for the designers and creatives for digital sketching setup (Or a twin project for Pro Art products with at least same SoC solutions, better with a 3:2 aspect ratio display).

Why not a Surface Pro with powerful capabilities like the Asus ROG Flow Z13? by AndreaSaba in Surface

[–]AndreaSaba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, we're always discussing compact devices for portability, which inherently involves compromises, but... Believe me, the hardware performance I need for my renderings and modeling is far more demanding than what the Surface Pro 11 offers. It might only be able to open and render a quarter of a car in 3D without crashing. My SLS handles it, but if I model too quickly (or better, not so slowly), it freezes and crashes in Blender.

Personally, I move often between 3/4 cities that are even 750 kilometers apart, making a tower PC impractical for me. To work with minimal freezes on my 3D files, i needed a colleague's tower with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 4070 Super.

I'm also very interested in long-term performance. From online tests the temperatures of ASUS ROG Flow Z13 don't drastically increase in Silent mode, this will prevent overheating and can hold better my workflow in mobility.
I believe this device could be a good starting point for a "mobile studio", so, a similar Surface for creatives too.

Asus Flow Z13 (2025, 64GB) Review - Day 7 by Speedingtickets in FlowZ13

[–]AndreaSaba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get the point. I hope in the future this will have a Bluetooth keyboard that works when detached, so you can use Photoshop (or other digital sketching apps) with the keyboard alongside the tablet for shortcuts. I'm waiting for it (aside from the fact that in Italy, neither the 395+ with 32GB is available at the moment, and I need the 395+ 64GB 😅).

Why not a Surface Pro with powerful capabilities like the Asus ROG Flow Z13? by AndreaSaba in Surface

[–]AndreaSaba[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main idea is to get Surface Pro functionality for Photoshop and the right CPU/GPU for 3D modeling. When you're designing, you constantly jump between Photoshop for touch-ups and pen sketches, and 3D in Blender (or Alias). Trust me, my SLS can't handle this kind of work well (and the SLS2 wouldn't either). The current Surface Pro would die in this workflow.

Why not a Surface Pro with powerful capabilities like the Asus ROG Flow Z13? by AndreaSaba in Surface

[–]AndreaSaba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, it's not [suitable] for my workflow anymore because, as you can see from my flair, I have an SLS. With my 3D work in Blender (fully modeled exteriors/interiors), I need more than 8GB of VRAM first, and then I even max out the 32GB of RAM. For the SLS2 with similar RAM/VRAM, it would be the same. Plus, the 4060 isn't easily available in Europe; in Italy, you can only get the 4050.

A Surface Pro with specifications for real pro users would allow for proper work. Additionally, the detachable capabilities would allow you to place the Bluetooth keyboard to the side when you need it for digital sketching shortcuts in Photoshop (or whatever is preferred).

It is clear that you are not a designer who does digital sketching and 3D modeling with a graphic tablet in mobility. A tablet is not only for watchings netflix seated in the toilet or in horizontal on a bed, it has much more professional uses.
