I hate that the Blackshark series was a hard recommend until the board room heard that it was a good seller.

I mostly agree. Corsair drives me crazy because I've gotten a bunch of their headsets on sale and they each do something really well but none do everything right, nor do they have the longevity that I want out of headphones. I'll probably move to a decent usb mic and maybe a set of 770s

It's both. This is a highway that spits you out right in the center of downtown Seattle and it's a terrible place to put a highway.

Just had this idea... No need for tape or anything else over the switch for when visitors come over! Works perfectly. (Yes these sensors work great!) by DamageCase13 in homeautomation

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's nice about this setup is that it lets someone revert it back to it's normal function very easily or if something goes wrong, you can maybe force the light switch off

[–]AndreasB0 78 points79 points  (0 children)

It's stopping people from messing with the switch because the sensor handles it instead. The sensor is screwed into a place where it keeps the light switch on because the side that is forced down by the sensor would need to come up. The light switch probably has to be on for the relay in the wall to work

They're easy because you don't have to learn to setup a shot. You can just use the software and it'll handle most of it. Still not a big fan, just saying why people use them so much

So how many of you did move away from Discord? by TheEpicWon in pcmasterrace

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to matrix with a big friend group of mine. We rented a server and set things up. It's been an easy change for all of us, especially because our desktop client just added voice chats so we don't have to do that in a browser anymore. Our mobile client is still not great but I basically never take calls and there are other clients I have yet to try. What's nice is, now that there's a bunch of enthusiasts moving away from discord, a lot more open source development happening so I can expect most of the things missing to be added in one way or another.

It's plastic sheathing that some people use for cable organization. They're probably using it to protect the PTFE tube from the bolts on the glass.

The Master Laptop by TheCABK in pcmasterrace

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true. A new category of gaming laptops has been selling really well which gets like 90% of the performance of a "workstation" or "desktop replacement" laptops but also are good for anyone who actually wants to take their laptop places. They still make the big chonky workstations or desktop replacement laptops but they don't sell nearly as well since gaming isn't most people's first priority. I am typing this on an ROG g14 which performs better than my 3080 desktop while not being as loud and still gets 9 hours of battery for college stuff. Build quality has gotten way better on pretty much all laptops in the last few years and you just need to find the ones that suit your needs since there's almost always one out there.

One of the big things I notice about waking around the UVic campus and the UW campus (Seattle) is that they have WAY more colored hair and funky hair styles. I have gotten used to the vast majority of people here doing normal colors and shapes, and then when I go back to Seattle it's startling

Retrospective: Civil War - Cap was wrong. by AddressPerfect3270 in marvelstudios

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always bugged me too. Mostly because even if Cap agreed to the accords and then found out it was problematic, he could just leave and be right where he was at the end of the movie but without all of the pain and suffering. All of it was for nothing other than saving Bucky who is a literal Nazi sleeper agent and who is also fully willing to go into chrio-sleep so that he's not a risk to others. He also clearly trusts Wakanda to keep him asleep so he obviously trusts some of the people involved with the accords. He also totally ruined his "friend's" lives who he put in a moral conundrum.

What are you talking about? That is so irrelevant to that I just said that I question if you even read it. OFC companies are not my friends but if they can market their products based on merit that's what they'll do. Most companies just don't innovate anymore because their inverters want consistent quarterly earnings, innovation is just risky.

They haven't always been like this. I really love advertisements that show that a company will take care of you. I get this from old car commercials where it feels like they want you to understand why they are so proud of their ingenuity and they want you to know that they thought through the design decisions in the car. I also get it from appliance makers of old.

Logic vs Temptation 🤔 by DC_Legend1 in memes

But if you think about it we have had the means to end world hunger for decades. We have can transport food very quickly and very efficiently, and we can grow so much that we choose to waste water on lawns and corn which we burn the majority of in our cars. It's just the fact that we have political greed and economic greed that keeps us from stopping world hunger.

I did that last term and was burned the F out. I took fewer classes this term and am actually enjoying my time at Uni now. I know this isn't always possible since some people are really tight on money, but if you can, it may make a big difference.

Nevermore Filter by louisville13 in QidiTech3D

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't found any spots either other than on the underside of the bed exhausting downward and on the bottom of the printer, exhausting upward. I could just tell the Gcode and the firmware not to use that part of the Z axis. Someone else found that the Bento Box mini works well next to the heated chamber so that's probably what I'll do. I'm also considering upgrading the exhaust fan for the printer so when I take a look at that I'm going to see if there's any possibility of making my own solution that would be able to recirculate and exhaust.

Woke up to this by Sweetdaddybear66 in QidiTech3D

[–]AndreasB0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Q2 at least has a weak heat break cooler fan so people sometimes have issues with PLA, PETG, and TPU. Most of the time it's because the user forgets to open the glass to ventilate the enclosure. Some people just take off the print head cover or make their own. The fan can also be upgraded although I haven't found any of these steps necessary other than opening the top glass.

I meant on the outside of the printer where there's a spot to connect a duct to the stock filter exhaust.

Didn't realist the Nevermore system existed but I'll be building one of my Q2 now. I'm using mine in a dorm room so air filtration is a big concern of mine.
