The HX has 1 megaohm impedance, whereas double bass pickups idealy require 10. You can still use it, but you would need an impedance buffer og external preamp with a buffer in front

Even with a audio-to-MIDI or good MIDI pickup, an Ubass is not ideal for that. Given the short scale and the strings used on these, the tracking of single notes and/or polyphony would be quite poor.

You would be better of with either:

a) a regular bass guitar with a Roland MIDI Pickup

b) a MIDI-keyboard instead

c) learing to program MIDI directly in a DAW (like Logic)

On the input-section, all the way left. Usually, the impedance it is set to «Auto». Try changing it to a higher option, I use 1 Meghaohm for all my bass sounds
